I spoke with a UP employee working in the yard and he didn't seem to think there was a problem as long as I stayed off the tracks/property. He was actually interested in seeing the videos. So, I took off and landed from a public place, didn't fly over or interfere with any UP employees, didn't do anything reckless and mainly stayed off to the side. This area is in FAA Class G airspace but there is a TFR issued whenever the Rockies or Broncos are playing in their stadiums a few miles from there so you can't fly at those times.
I visit this yard pretty much every Sunday morning to film a video of the rail car classification and locomotive operations
Great Video! Living in Denver for years you dont realize the rail yards true size, Thanks!
Yeah, and there are several yards in Denver. Very valuable property! Think of all the apartments they could put in that space.
stunning view !!!
Absolutely outstanding video, hope you do more like this.
Pity you can't park your drone up there 24/7, it would be a real interesting place to watch.
Glad you like it, I have plans for more just need the time.
Cool can't wait, perhaps you could do one of them taking power on and off a UP coal train bound for the mines or from the mines
A mezmerizing video fer sure, could've zoomed in on the yard tower.
Did you have to get permission to fly the drone over UP property?
