One thing about doctor grunts, if you're setting up to defend a boss lair, you can have the doctor grunt chase you inside the lair where you'll be holding up, giving you an extra med kit for the fight.
If you wield a fast-repeating large weapon like winfield, consider taking a hand crossbow with both normal and poison bolts. It wipes almost everything, including players in short range. :)
Yeah, if you have a Winfield 1873 with levering and Iron Repeater there's almost no reason to bring a PvP pistol. Yeah, you get hosed in those long range gun fights bit you also open up the ability to bring a crossbow to silenced nagant.
My standard solo build is a winfield swift, or any rifle with a melee attachment, and a hand crossbow. If you do run poison bolts I suggest bringing a large antidote shots so that you can sit inside your poison clouds if needed. This works wonders on the assassin and scrapbeak who are weak to poison.
@@zissoulander Same. I run both standard and poison bolts for all my silent AI clearing needs. Also lets you deal with bosses nice and quiet, without risking getting hit in melee. I even score some player kills in close quarters, even if you don't OHK it still applies bleeding, it's kinda like a silent, small slot, cheap shotgun. Winnie swift is a great all-rounder. Great long range accuracy with high velocity rounds, still quite reliable in close quarters if need be, even hip-firing without levering is pretty accurate. The only downside i can think of is this loadout relies solely on special ammo, so unless you're ok with the standard ammo for the winnie, you might wanna bring an ammo box aswell. Otherwise very fun and reliable budget loadout for solos.
Overall a pretty good guide but I’d like to mention a few things. 1. Hellhound howls attract nearby AI. After killing hellhounds, it’s recommended to reposition quickly as you will probably have several mobs moving towards you which can slow you down more so or even be a threat if you’re out of stamina. 2. Dusters work quite well against hellhounds if you know the technique. If a hellhound is rushing you, wait for them and aim a heavy punch at their head but lead it a bit. Melee swings are a bit delayed and hellhounds move fast which can turn a headshot into a body. If you are being swarmed and don’t have the luxury of precision, do a heavy strike into a light. This will kill a hellhound and only costs you 15% of your stamina so you have a bit of leeway. 3. AI aggro is affected by distance. If you’re a certain distance away, they won’t react. However, if two or more players are close to each other, this can extend the aggro range. This is why two people running by crows will trigger them when individually they would’ve been fine 4. Meatheads aren’t too big of a deal while traveling but they can be a potential nightmare in a gun fight. You can’t sneak by them easily and taking cover nearby is just begging to get poisoned (and subsequently chased by a fat dude). If there are players nearby, keep track of meatheads and don’t be afraid to kill them; it’s better to lose the element of surprise than risk getting a meathead on you in a gunfight.
Good Video! Grunt/Heavy Addition: light melee their legs if you're low on stamina to cripple them and get away. Water Devil addition: throw (e.g) a fuse to lure them away from you to cross savely (still loud)
I usually fully agree with you, but the heavy knife is underrated. Being able to 1 shot dogs and grunts while out of stamina has saved my life a bunch of times. The light strike 1 shots grunts and I don't have to worry about concertina wire. Plus, it is nice to lightly swing your arm and watch a grunts head explode.
Big agree here. The heavy knife can kill grunts with a QUICK attack unlike the regular knife which needs a heavy attack. Also, the heavy knife is a slightly less powerful machete that doesnt take a weapon slot. Great in pvp.
14:08 You should rebind your "vault" key to something different than your "jump" key. I used to get screwed by that more than I would like to admit lol. Very small but makes a difference in schmoovment
Flareguns can be heard over 100 meters and due to persisting bug the flares are visible through map. The usual flares last longer, silent and are much more useful in pvp Also a hint, if you're ever attacked by immolator AND dogs, start shooting without a second thought.
Another tip: The Cavalry Saber is an excellent pick to clear any mobs silently you come across. It can two shot armoreds with its stab, and doesn't use much stamina for the basic slash which can easily kill Grunts and Hives up close. It is also a very handy weapon against most of the bosses (particularly Scrapbeak since he doesn't have any random ones laying around his lair.) While it doesn't do as much damage as a hammer or an axe in one hit, you can hit with it much more rapidly and continuously and actually up your DPS over the heavier melee weapons. And as a bonus, it's an absolutely lethal weapon up close for PVP. Only the Bomb Lance does better. A full stab will kill a full health Hunter, just like the knife, AND it has more reach. If you use it, though, definitely bring the Dusters along instead of the knife--better for immolaters, and saber makes the knife pretty redundant.
It's worth mentioning that the flare pistol is much louder than you would first expect; I'm confident it can at least be heard one compound away, maybe 2 by a keen-eared hunter so keep that in mind
One more tidbit about immolators, once they are ignited, they'll eventually die on their own. Course it will still be loud. And don't waste choke bombs on them either. Lol Edit: Also, Waterdevils can be one-shot by most shotguns if you're in a pinch. Edit again: Meatheads can be killed fairly quickly using a poison crossbow. Usually 3 bolts kills them quietly.
Any AI can be killed quickly by throwing knife. 12 for Meatheads. 3-4, depending on where you hit for armoured. DO NOT HIT IMMO!!! But if you really wish to do so? 2 Headshots. But don't. Rest take one headshot/upper-body-shot. New event added the best tool: Throwing Axe. It can ohk grunts/hives on light. OHK Armoured with throwing. OHK on heavy for hellhounds.
4FS Gaming , just wanted to say thank you for all your video's it helped me from struggling and getting killed in Hunt , to walking out multiple times with the bounty !
I mean I'm really late to comment on this video, but I'd say it's worth noting: If you max range a concertina armor with a knife, you CAN kill it without losing even a small health chunk in 4 stabs. You have to do it with only ever barely stepping in their range to get bled, and without any delays between stabs.
The most useful tip regarding hell hounds is that if you hug any tree they will not know how to properly navigate to you. Most of the time they will stop attacking and start slow walking into you.
Another good thing to note: Sound trap AI triggering (crows, cage dogs, chickens) are a meter, not a radius around them. When making sound too close, you will fill that meter. If the meter is halfway full, they will play a "angering" sound (for example, crows will start cawing lightly). If you fill the meter fully, they trigger. So don't try to play around an imaginary trigger radius for the crows.
One more thing about concertina armored: You can knife kill concertina armored without taking enough damage to lose a small health bar, it just requires you to be at the very edge of your stab range (which is a lot longer than most new players believe), which is certainly possible but keep in mind that it's very easy to misjudge the distance and miss a stab or two, which just makes the situation worse, so train that ability when you're safe with healing nearby, otherwise deal with them in a safer manner. Meathead on clues: in a pinch, the leeches are attracted to sound so if you throw a lantern close by, most of the leeches will go investigate the inferno for enemies...which means they die, and you have a good window of opportunity to grab the clue before the meathead poops out another bunch. Additionally on meatheads: three lanterns is usually enough to kill one, while it does make some sound, it's a small price to pay if it means you get a trait and then leave or getting rid of that meathead before the fight starts (they are by far the worst enemy to attract mid-fight).
I prefer the heavy knife, you can kill most enemies with a weak attack instead of a heavy one. With it I can take out more enemies with my stamina bar.
I'm real glad your vid convinced me to buy this game. I had assumed my comp could never handle it (can't even run DbD or Titanfall) but it turns out it can, if I ignore the fact that the first minute after spawning in is akin to playing Roblox while things load. Only played 3 quick play matches, and lost all of them, but it was so fun
Pennyshot doesnt ignite an immolator when you shot it, cuz it doesnt pierce its skin. Nice to know for some random clutch situation ^^ Edit: Most easy way to kill a meathead are poison bolts, just 2 and a lil bit of him standing in it is enough ^^
Unfortunately a fully comprehensive guide on all mechanics associated with AI would take several hours, so in this video I opted to look at only the most efficient/useful means of navigating them, from the perspective of how I usually play, but for sure, when out of stamina the choke bomb can be extremely useful against immolators.
One thing to know about immolators is that if they are standing in water in a depth somewhere around 1/2 to 3/4 the way up their shins they will not explode when shot, stabbed, etc. This is useful when you're a poor man running free hunters with combat axes. I have much experience with this situation haha.
The silent poison Nagant really worked great for me in in solo games. As you can rush through the map to get to a good center position early on. With fanning it also works decently on hunters. In duos or trios on the other hand the silent poison Nagan is pretty useless. Ah yeah. Of course beside the face of you team members when you shoot the Immolators while they are meleing it :)
An addition to the hard to reach hives, if you don't plan on sticking around and there's no obvious signs of enemy hunters you can just shoot them and quickly re-locate. Of course there could always be a sneaky hunter nearby but if they're close enough to do anything they would have heard the hive aggro to you and know you're there regardless.
Note about immolators - if they are ignited by a shot or stab they will burn out on their own after about 30 seconds. If you have a long range gun, especially a silenced one, it's a really good diversion if you know hunters are around. Also, if you stumble upon a hunter meleeing an immolator shot the immolator first. It's SO satisfying seeing everything go up in flames. Water Devils - they can be killed, or at least disappeared, if you shoot the base of the pool. I've found one close range romero shot will do it, or 2-3 shots from most guns. When it's active and angry remember to shot at the base and not at the tentacles. One of my buddies melees the ones close to shore with a bayonet without getting hit. Seems risky to me but he gets away with it.
I usually just run around with throwing axes. They deal good damage, you can carry up to three of them and you can get them back after throwing. Great for killing any other mob except water devils and immolators, for those I usually have poison bullets in my secondary (which one shots them at close range). They are also an excellent clutch melee weapon since you can throw them. I wouldn't use fusees or flare guns because they essentially waste a slot; They are very bright (especially at night); Your toolbox loot is wasted on them instead of getting something potentially much more useful; It makes a lot of the enemies scream as they burn to death. Conclusion: Throwing axes are the best melee tool from the options currently available due to their versatility.
Bow is quite decent for meatheads - 6 or so arrows. Same with crossbow but that's much slower due to abysmal reload speed. On the other hand crossbow can take the nuclear option - explosive bolts are 1 taping them. For anything else PvE poison nagants or small crossbow with poison darts is super effective. Poison nagants are also great to quickly dispose of assassin and butcher (in case of the second, a silent alternative to just using sticky bomb)
You can also kill or hit multiple AI with a single heavy from weapon that hit from right to left, like the Heavy knife heavy attack, the machete, boomstick etc... That's probably why you don't like the heavy knife, if you don't try to get the hit on multiple enemies at the same time with it, it's really not stamina friendly (exept for grunt).
if you have a big bar as your first health chunk and you're quick enough four stabs with the knuckle knife or regular knife will kill the concertina armored and you can save the bar
Adding to your comment on silent nagant poisoned, I consider this and the hand crossbow to be more of a utility than an actual weapon. Good for pesky AI, but best to have a strong primary weapon to deal with hunters. That said, hand crossbow can get pretty creative. Poison and chokebolts instakill Immolators, and can cut off choke points in a fight. And the chaos bolt can make initiating an ambush a bit easier, and have your prey looking the wrong way!
Heavy knife is good for non charge slashes as these take out grunts in one swipe without the stamina cost of a full charge. They fill the a spot between knives and knuckles like the knucky knife. The are like a side grade to knucky knife where you trade blunt punches for a slash good for killing grunts quickly bad for immolator. I still think it need some sort of buff considering how much damage an immolator can do to you in unexpected circumstances.
If your weapon is versatile like a Winfield, I usually take a silence negant for extra ammo and it helps me move faster though AI so I can get around quicker
I think it would have been useful to mention that when you kill a waterdevil, all waterdevil in the area disappear for a few seconds but then come back. I know you can't include everything but that seems like a really handy thing to know about waterdevils when needing to cross a body of water immediately
Well, when we are talking about ai, a couple of questions for you and the community. 1. When do you hit hellhounds, when they are in the air? 2. Do all ai have the same aggro range? (except meathead) 3. Do birds and horses and dogs trigger more easily when they are already spooked, for instance, player one goes by and not fully triggered but when player two or three passes at the same range they do trigger. 4. Can grunts trigger birds/dogs? if they for instance walk on a branch. 5. Do dogs/chickens/horses always trigger inside the boss compound when the boss is engaged?
1. Hit hellhounds whe nthey are still, or as they lunge directly at you, hitting them as they run can be tricky and make you wiff attacks and waste stamina. 2. All AI have different agro range, hellhounds and immolators have the highest ranges I believe. 3. I don't think so, but birds and dogs do have alert status that last for a little while, you can hear them become nervous as you get a little too close which does make them easier to trigger with sounds, even from further away. 4. No 5. No, only if a player makes a sound, boss sounds are not part of it.
Meatheads can be killed nice and quickly with 3 poison bolts, they will tipically stay in the clouds. It's not instant like with xplosive crossbow, bomblance or dynamite, but time is about what take you to fire and reload 3 times the xbow, so decently fast
Every npc is easy when you're not in a gunfight. The problem occurs when I just got shot, need to heal and regroup and I run into a buncha shit like hounds or hives.
Thanks for the video because even though most people only focus on the PVP, the AI is a very big part of this game and I believe the developers intentionally made the AI as annoying as they possibly can. I like all 4 melee tools and constantly switch up which one I bring. I think we all agree knives have advantages against hellhounds and dusters against immolators. A key thing I consider is in an out of stamina emergency you can shoot down a pack of dogs as not dying to them is worse than making noise, but with an immolator in your face you can't safely shoot it because of the fire damage.
I always bring my knuck knife if I'm running mediums. I will almost always bring a knife on accident with a bomb lance loadout because I don't learn. The only loadout I get away with no melee tool is Martini riposte/Nag ofc brawler, but I only run that when I want to free up a slot to get cheeky with alert trip mines.
Shouldn’t you avoid the flare pistol because of unnecessary noise? I thought I remembered that you can hear the noise of one being fired from a decent enough distance to not risk using it
That Immolator and grunt could've been faster as well as easier with the Dusters. Gun butt might be okay when it is alone, but when there are more AI you're screwed. I've died plenty of times without the Dusters. Better to take the knife too though for Armored, Hellhounds, and Hunters maybe even Bounties. For Hellhounds though, let's be real here... Firebombs and lanterns are better.
my fav hellhound tip is that if you LOS them with anything even a small tree they cant see you and stop running and just walk up to you for an easy kill
Hellhounds for a few months now can also spawn as a solo dog. Still not sure if this is unintended or not. And I'm speaking for console, as I haven't played on PC for a while and not sure if it also happens on there.
Man, after 1000 hours I have actually found the large knife to be my favorite of the bunch. Can deal with hordes since it one shots zombies with the light attack, kills armored in 2 heavy and 1 light hit, one shots dogs as well, and will one shot hunters in the head, but also the slash is very good for when you "fuck it up". You went for the swing but were too far and missed, or the guy dodged to the side, just start slashing and running at the guy, he'll likely die. You can also kill multiple people in short succession this way with little stamina remaining.
5:15 with 1 heavy hit and positionning you could kill 3 of them if not all of them easily that where the heavy knife shine and ppl always forget about how strong its versus conc bomb as well and fighting immolator with a bunch of machete grunt that can burst the immo can be a nightmare haha
lil tip from me: meatheads require 11 throwing knifes to kill. a duo can kill a meathead reasonably quick, and a trio really quick with throwing knifes... to be super quiet.
What's the song you guys have at the end of the video, I miss hearing it more often in the intro. Makes me feel nostalgic bc I've been watching you for so long since Hunt came out for console
Could you maybe do a video on weapons range? I’ve been unfortunately teamed up with players who use the Romero 77 like a karabiner. I see people with deadeye weapons who lock themselves in a room and try to fight some one using the Crown and King. A great vid. Can’t wait to see the Boss video. Still hoping for a Werewolf boss in the future.
They will reach the end of their "zone" eventually, so you can just outrun them. If not find a nearby fence and vault it to throw off their pathfinding
I can't tell if the sponsor is dead serious or not, nonetheless it's a fun change in hunt videos :D also. I have a lot of trouble winning fights in salters pork. any tips?
So for the part about killing meatheads silently, u brought up poison briefly. U missed the poison crossbow able to kill it in 3 bolts. And the use with the poison crossbow being the most effective ai killing tool/weapon. Except hives. They decently resistant to that.
lol dragon city is the most random sponsor ever for this video. XD most unexpected plot twist i've ever witnessed was this video being sponsored by dragon city
This video's sponsor: Play Dragon City for Free and get bonus rewards: mtchm.de/hy4hi

13:15 if you and your team mate throw a throwing knife each at the same time you can take out a Waterdevil with barely any noise at all.
Great vid! Btw the best way to kill a meathead is a dynamite stick, cheap and all
Heavy knife is good for non charge slashes as these take out grunts in one swipe without the stamina cost of a full charge. They fill the a spot between knives and knuckles like the knucky knife. The are like a side grade to knucky knife where you trade blunt punches for a slash good for killing grunts quickly bad for immolator. I still think it need some sort of buff considering how much damage an immolator can do to you in unexpected circumstances.
hand crossbow choke bolts are pretty effective against immolators and poison from a silenced nagant is pretty good vs armored
Always good to see another video. Commenting for engagement.
Well, when we are talking about ai, a couple of questions for you and the community.
1.
When do you hit hellhounds, when they are in the air?
2.
Do all ai have the same aggro range? (except meathead)
3.
4. No
5. No, only if a player makes a sound, boss sounds are not part of it.
Meatheads can be killed nice and quickly with 3 poison bolts, they will tipically stay in the clouds. It's not instant like with xplosive crossbow, bomblance or dynamite, but time is about what take you to fire and reload 3 times the xbow, so decently fast
you can also one shot immolators with choke bombs or bolts. you will have to cook the bomb though as they can just out run it before it goes off.
Awesome, thanks for putting this out. Def helps to know what to do.
Every npc is easy when you're not in a gunfight. The problem occurs when I just got shot, need to heal and regroup and I run into a buncha shit like hounds or hives.
Very useful video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Didn't think I would learn anything new but learned a bunch of stuff, thanks! 👍
Glad to hear it!
They added Malay weapons straight from Malaysia?
Water devil Addendum: ''Killing one'' will dissipate all nearby water devils temporarily.
Yoooooo a sponsor! Hell yes!!!
New video HYPE! 💪😤
winnie hv + silenced nagant with poison is my go to solo loadout. dont need a second slot for qs if the primary is already a beast.
Choke bombs work good vs immolators. It's my go-to way of dealing with them if I need to move fast or am out of stamina.
You can also kill multiple people in short succession this way with little stamina remaining.
you can kill meatheads super easy with poison. Also armoreds. Chokes for immos is also missing.
5:15 with 1 heavy hit and positionning you could kill 3 of them if not all of them easily that where the heavy knife shine and ppl always forget about how strong its versus conc bomb as well
and fighting immolator with a bunch of machete grunt that can burst the immo can be a nightmare haha
Did you end up putting out an updated boss guide?
lil tip from me: meatheads require 11 throwing knifes to kill. a duo can kill a meathead reasonably quick, and a trio really quick with throwing knifes... to be super quiet.
Nagant poison is an absolute PvE behemoth, slightly worse than regular at klling hives but definitely worth taking with a winfield or vetterli.
What's the song you guys have at the end of the video, I miss hearing it more often in the intro. Makes me feel nostalgic bc I've been watching you for so long since Hunt came out for console
Has anyone ever triggered a grunt and have said grunt come SPRINTING around a corner at you? I've been startled by those pricks so many times.
You can dispatch a meathead with 3 shots of poison bolt. I usually do that when there's a wagon nearby
that immolator/cleavergrunt combo exploded alot of times on me, lol
You can also one tap a water devil with bomb lance melee
custom ammo? bolts?
I do have a question what do i do when there are just a lot of grunts following me and I can't shake them off
They will reach the end of their "zone" eventually, so you can just outrun them. If not find a nearby fence and vault it to throw off their pathfinding
@@4FSGaming sorry I could not respond quick my phone was in the shop and I just saw it now thank you
Well I didn’t learn anything. But it was a good watch nonetheless lol
Great video
I can't tell if the sponsor is dead serious or not, nonetheless it's a fun change in hunt videos :D
also. I have a lot of trouble winning fights in salters pork. any tips?
Whatever puts food on the table. 🤷♂️
I'd say play around cover and possibly get into the main building
Poison Silenced Sparks shot will instantly kill up close Waterdevils!
So for the part about killing meatheads silently, u brought up poison briefly. U missed the poison crossbow able to kill it in 3 bolts. And the use with the poison crossbow being the most effective ai killing tool/weapon. Except hives. They decently resistant to that.
Great video. Nice for a new player like me
Looking forward to bosses guide
So, what's up with that boss guide? :3
Quick fix : medium slot weapons with stocks (dolch precision, nagant precision etc.) do same damage with 3 slot rifles on melee attacks
I remember when water devils used to be one of the scariest monsters in the game
lol dragon city is the most random sponsor ever for this video. XD most unexpected plot twist i've ever witnessed was this video being sponsored by dragon city
The bow is really nice at killing all kinds of monsters
Hello 4FS!
Explosive Bolts and Nitro can kill Meatheads with one shot.
posion crossbow takes care of meatheds most silently
New map trailer is live :)
2:13 Video starts here.
Didn't mention that choke bombs will instantly kill immolators
I was SO confused as to what a "molay" tool was for the longest time. 🥴
Dam I thought this was a new Mister Creeps vid about hunting monsters
u can axe watter devils much people dont know it
"muh-lay" tool? Lol good vid but that made me chuckle every time.
wait wait wait
Stamina shots make you faster for 10 MINUTES?
Man i really need to look into all of these things i never use...
They max your movement and melee stamina, so you never get out of breath and slow down when running.
Throwing axes?!?!? Why no mentioning those?
Love the videos mate , I'm from aus wld love to team up some time 👍👍
You can kill almost all the Ai with poison too
