Can you imagine Kate or Tiffany slaying on "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", and all of them having so much fun with "So Long, Farewell" and "The Lonely Goatherd"? Maybe an EJ/Ashley pairing for "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", and what they could do with "Do, Re, Mi" and the title track...
I am lost for words when I hear Voctave. This is true harmony that takes one’s breath away. My ears are happy and my heart is so grateful for each gifted member of the magical gift that is Voctave. ❤️👏👏👏👏
America at its finest. Humanity at its finest. The soaring spirit of our soul, at its finest. What's left to achieve, in terms of the dignity and joy of living? P.S. Cheers from Canada!
For those of you who didn't know, Voctave released this song as part of their Snow album in 2017, but only now released a video for it. Jamey Ray (the arranger for the group) has said in interview that it is sad that so many people only know their music from TH-cam because they have songs that people have asked for on their albums that a lot of their fans don't seem to know about. They have 5 albums out now.
‘Once upon a December’ really makes me want an album of “full version” Disney songs. Go the distance, make a man out of you, beauty and the beast, part of your world, journey to the past, so this is love, The gospel truth 1-2-3/zero to hero, You’re welcome, etc. 🥰😍😍😍
The people who worked on Anastasia were part of Disney then left to make their own movies as they didn't like the boss at the time. That's why it screams disney when you watch it.
I closed my eyes while listening to Once Upon a December, and felt as though I was floating. What an absolutely beautiful rendition of this song, superb. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and craft with us!
Wow. I just came across this group of Angels. Absolutely beautiful. You make my heart happy. May God continue to bless you and allow you to bring more joy and happiness into this world. We need it. Absolutely beautiful. ❤
00:00 - Christmas Waltz (Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne for Frank Sinatra, later covered by Carpenters) 01:18 - My Favorite Things (The Sound of Music, Rodgers and Hammerstein) 02:53 - Once Upon a December (Anastasia, Stephen Flaherty)
"Christmas Waltz" is not a Carpenters original, although they have what might be the best-known (and best performed) version of the song. It was written in the 1950s (originally for Frank Sinatra), and has been covered by many other artists.
@@Rosannasfriend Absolutely! I wasn't sure what time to include, so just went with when it fully started rather than the interleaving bits. Well noted though!
Why do I feel like I've been waiting my whole life to hear those arrangements of "My favourite things" and "once upon a December"? 😍 Thank you all and Merry Christmas!
You know what? people might not be "blown away" by this song and I kind of understand them because they mainly wait for the super big and long non-human notes of sopranos or tenors but THIS EFFING ARRANGEMENT is full of life, a roller coaster of emotions brought to existence by the dinamics of the piece itself and the OUAD soloist made my heart melt... If I had to chose the words to describe this one, I would say phantasmagorical , enchanting and bewitching. Also ME ENCANTÓ!!! ME ENCANTÓ!!! Y no importa si no tienen la misma cantidad de views que los demás videos, este es un trabajo excelentemente ejecutado... Excuse my english ahaha Greetings from Venezuela!!!!!
What the heck???????? I was absolutely blow away away by this. Blown out of this world and into orbit. This is one of their very very best works and I've heard them all.
ONE WEEK! And it will be my utmost pleasure to see you all perform live in Scottsdale, AZ! Masterful, Wonderful, thank you!!!!! Ashley melts my heart every time she sings. ❤️
James Ray and Voctave nailed the "once upon a december" the lyrics are happily magical but the music supposed to sound sad to reflect Anastasia's loss so the combination is hauntingly beautiful added with the tutti vocals and enchantingly fortissimo harmonies. Magnificat!
To the commenter who didn't care for, "the tall woman" who was "overacting"... That's what musicians often do when they're thoroughly enjoying their craft. It's not acting. It's FEELING. If anything, I think it enhances a group's performance when its members are really into their music. And to the person who thinks there had to be some post-processing of the soundtrack because they sound too good... Nope, they're all natural, and THAT GOOD!
I love watching her! You can tell how much she enjoys what she’s doing. As a musician myself, it makes me happy to see other musicians enjoying beautiful music!
No it's not really 'dancing', it's more so like the singing version of swinging your arms while you walk. It just feels right in the moment. Kind of helps you keep time.
Based on the fact that I can't stop listening to it ... this may just be my new favourite! Look, I love listening to Pentatonix and Homefree etc etc ... but Voctave bring me to tears every single time. It's quite exhausting ... in a good way. This is really a freaking masterpiece!
I 💘 you, Voctave! You Aced Once Upon A December. You captured how that song is haunting and beautiful. I would have never expected you to reach into the lexicon for that song but you did. Did you ever. Bam! You laid it down.😇
I would absolutely die if there was a sound of music medley! That is my favorite movie of all time along with Hello Dolly and to hear one of those or even if I dream and hear both of them I would just be grin to grin the entire time lol
I cried when Once upon a December came up. I think I misread the title cause i clicked it so fast but I didn't expect it and sang along in my head. I absolutely loved it. Can you do Journey to the Past next?
2:02 That major chord!! It's like a hug from your favorite person! This is such an amazing medley!! Perfect arrangement as always, and as always, absolutely perfect execution!
OK, I heard them this past Saturday, 12/21. They were BEYOND amazing. All the quality and richness of their voices was there, just like I expected. And funny? Kurt (one of the basses) did a shtick during, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch", which was hysterical. He was apparently ad-libbing parts of it because he had several members of the group doubled over laughing. After the last song the audience gave them not only a standing ovation, but people were whistling, cheering, shouting accolades and clapping vigorously, and it all didn't die down until they were well off the stage. Now I only want to know when they're coming back!
Once Upon a December is one of my favorite songs... Top 50 for sure LOL it's one of those that touches my soul with a gleeful shiver... You did it justice! Thank you for the share
I always love all of your renditions. You know, one song that i always imagine being sung by Voctave is Abba - Thank You For The Music. I'm very thankful by your music. You're the best voices. Ever.🙏🙏🙏
Another flawless arrangement from Jamey Ray, another flawless vocal performance from some of the best singers alive :-) I always make sure I buy everything they release since the are AWESOME and well deserve the support, so I've been enjoying this ever since I bought the 'Snow' album. It's so nice to have the video now though, so thanks for posting this!
The Anastasia part was MAGICAL!
Lots of moments where chills run down the spine :-)
IKR! 😌
Second this!! 😍

Rewatched Anastasia recently just for this song - fantastic cover, definitely magical!
Thank you so much. I've never heard such beautiful a capella music before.
Voctave January-November: Slay
Voctave December: Sleigh
good 1 mate
Their arrangements have always been good, but this was ANOTHER LEVEL! MY GOD I would love to be in this group! 🎉❤
Yes, I'm bragging here. I just got my ticket to see Voctave live in Dayton this year 2023. Can't wait!!!

Yes yes yes I’ve been saying this for YEARS!!!!! PoE was a MASTERPIECE!!
Yeeeees
Omg yes pleaseeeee
Oh please, I NEED a Sound of Music Voctave medley!!!!!
Also one of the men singing Edelwiess, I would love it😁
Their new album has 'climb every mountain' on it.

Please make Once Upon a December a separate song.I love the song

Once Upon A December isn't a Disney song. It's from Anastasia. Not a Disney film.
Scott Miles I believe it’s universal’s but Disney bought the rights to Anastasia which is now considered Disney.
The people who worked on Anastasia were part of Disney then left to make their own movies as they didn't like the boss at the time. That's why it screams disney when you watch it.
Everyone in this group is so gorgeous, it's ridiculous
And second year in a row Voctave jumpstarts my Christmas mood.
so true
Finally this mixture showcases tje men's parts. Love hearing that Bass!! 💕
I love this Christmas waltz
It’s that time of year again to come listen to the Christmas Waltz and cry at the “Once Upon a December” section!
Not me watching this for the 100th time! Ashley’s voice wrecks me every time!!🥰😍

Anastasia is one of the most under rates princesses of all Disney. Voctive did her song justice. I love you all!
Maybe because Anastasia was produced by Fox Animation Studios. But now that Disney owns Fox, I guess she can technically be a Disney princess :)
@@melitaoeij5142 yeah, you're right.
Awestruck...I shall be playing this often this Christmastime.
This is what I call the million dollar vocal group, amazing, I am speechless!! WOW!!
Jesus Christ Ashley you nailed it as always!!!!!
The high note that punctuates "bee stings" gives me goosebumps.
The best accapella group ever! No one compares!
00:00 - Christmas Waltz (Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne for Frank Sinatra, later covered by Carpenters)
01:18 - My Favorite Things (The Sound of Music, Rodgers and Hammerstein)
02:53 - Once Upon a December (Anastasia, Stephen Flaherty)
You actually hear the beginnings of "my favourite things" at 1:10. They kind of interweave it with the Christmas waltz.
The same interview leaving happens between "my favourite things" and "once upon a December" at about 2:40.

Voctave is the best acappella group period!!! They should do a Christmas concert and announce the place time and dates.
