I had a very interesting history conversation with the receptionist of a hotel in Portugal, also about Antonio Salazar, but the local police of my town is more involved with Salazar The Ecuadorian Waukiquna, so I leave to them the monopoly of that musical group and I dont insist more on listening that music. Everybody his own affairs as we say.
The greatest leader of the Twentieth Century-He saved Portugal from endless debt, hyperinflation, communist overthrow, and kept not just his own country, but also Spain neutral during World War Two. Depriving Germany of an ally, and sparing Iberia another war.
As far as l am aware there’s no fondness for Salazar and Estado Novo and he’s pretty much forgotten. I visited Portugal in 1979 and there was loads of graffiti from the carnation revolution. Portugal today is a better place and full democracy.

Nowadays Portugal is one of the poorest countries in Europe full of socialism and corruption. We are already beyond countries that were part of the Soviet Union.
