What I think there is in a transistor-based class AB amplifier that can adjust bias for a pure sine wave...is it better for an audiophile?
Why are you asking if you don't wanst to know , class AB is developed for low cost optimal sound output , that doesn't mean class AB is an audio phile grade . jab aap kabhi class A sunoge tb janoge
Class A from the era of vinyl & tube amps. Great sound quality. Pathetic efficiency. Most of the energy is dissipated as heat. In indian context... Good for test/demo equipment in test/demo conditions.
For home. After finishing listening on a weekly off day from 9 pm to 10 pm, I had to wait till 12am (midnight) with full ceiling fan speed before I could cover it (you need to protect it from dust otherwise heat dissipation will take longer and longer). Long story short... With Indian heat and dust, class A is impractical (even though purist)
Class D on the other hand was poor with sterile (hospital dettol sanitised sound), no warmth, till 2-3 years back but now with ICE modules and other audiophile developments, it's become really good. Class D is the future indeed.
