The Brompton is a mobile smile machine. Every time I get on it for a ride, a smile comes to my face. Love mine!

Yes and I still love my 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton. But the small wheels are heavy rolling and gives much rolling resistance than ordinary, full size wheels!

Brompton is the best, I have been riding many bikes but Brompton is special, nice ride , compacted and so much fun to ride. Love it . 5 stars to Brompton.

Just ONE small correction: The wheels of the Brompton do not "rotate faster" as such. There ARE more revolutions per minute (RPM) for any given speed with the smaller wheel, that's true... but the wheelrim speed BETWEEN the brake blocks is exactly the same as it would be on ANY size of wheel of ANY bike travelling along at the same velocity.
So, if a Brompton and a full sized road bike were travelling down the road together at, say, 15 mph, then the respective wheels' rim-speed through the brake blocks on BOTH cycles will be the same... the "same" being only very slightly less than the full 15 mph.
In short, Brompton has smaller wheels, so has to rotate those wheels more often to maintain rim speed.. but the rim-speed iiself is the same as any other bike moving along the road at the same rate.
    I hope this helps.

    Just bought a Brompton.
Been thinking about getting a bike for some time but as I live in a flat and had no place to safely store a standard bike outside and no room in the flat where a standard bike wouldn’t get in the way, I had been putting it off.
The Brompton is ideal (or as close as it’s ever going to get).
I can go for a ride and when I’m done I can fold it and tuck it away in it’s own little space in the flat and most of the time you wouldn’t even know it was there.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the foldability of the Brompton, I wouldn’t have a bike at all.
Does look like yours needs a good clean, though!🤣

I bought an electric mL6 about 3 weeks ago. I take it off road, up moors on barely there tracks and other places nobody would imagine a Brompton would go. It's no mountain bike for sure but it can be used for some getting way off the beaten track. It then pops into the gas storage locker (I have underslung tanks) of my campervan.

I find it absolutely fascinating that, with all that good features you mentioned with your touring bike, that in the end, you mentioned that if you could have only one bike, you'd choose the brompton. Cool bro! For the reasons that you listed, I know I will be just as "in love" with my bike friday. We are patiently waiting for our e-assist tandem which one day (hopefully) we will be taking touring as well. It folds, into my van and I can take it air travel as well. Bike Friday doesn't "win" on the fold. But it is the happy medium between being able to fold and being able to tour. For that reason, we then sort of have the best of both world. Question for you, do you happen to live in a high humidity environment? If yes, how do you combat/prevent rusting where the steel frame isn't painted (I assume where the folding areas are on the brompton, they aren't painted)? Subscribed. Thank you.

Good review. Thank you. I use both my Claude Butler and my Brompton on a regular basis. Both are excellent but I tend to use my Brompton most, not least getting to and from work. It’s certainly slower up hills but about the same on the flat and downhill. Attaching and detaching luggage is a big plus. Thanks

This "type" of bike is good for around town because you can bring it in with you and it won't get stolen or vandalized. For me, the geometry on my high handlebars model does not allow me to go too far. As with any bike, warranty issues can be a hassle and I had some with my Brompton here in the
USA. There are cheaper knock offs available, but not much cheaper.

brompton more upright riding and probably BEST fold for 16" wheel. As i m 1.8 tall, Bike friday suits me better and comfort riding not the compact fold though. Each bike is diffenet as you mentioned in yr video. Will get OEM clone B as material and folds are almost the same at affordable 1/3 the price!!! Wiser with spare cash to get better components.

You skipped the most important point - how do you get the Brompton to stand when fully unfolded?

  • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188

Even though my Lightweight rides easy, and is fun, it is a special bike for special occations. And though it feels rather easy, it is more heavy, even with the high pressure inside.

You’re gearing locknut is loose, so that might explain slipping 🤪

The bolt, holding the handlebar, may be changed for other to titanium, and may hold equipment to mount a phone and other items.

8:31 The knurled threaded ring is not locked against the 3 speed cable adjuster. I'm not surprised that you have had problems with slipping gears as you say.
You don't mention that you can change gear on a hub gear whilst stationary - a major plus in my opinion.

Well spotted have adjusted, thanks. Will be sure to point out the stationary gear change in the next Brompton video👍

A very fair comparison between an aged and nowadays low spec racing bike and the heavily hyped Brompton. My view is that apart from its truly remarkable fold, the Brompton is no more than a mediocre bike which can be bested by most full size bikes - often at lower cost. But my home is tiny, and if you want to live car-free then a Brompton is probably the only model which allows you to do that quite easily utilising its range extending technology (aka buses and trains 😉). Mine in fact is a Brompton Electric and it replaced an Airnimal Chameleon.

You’re lucky. You’re living in a bike paradise country. In Turkey a bicycle is as expensive as a C class Mercedes.

    • @bikeguyhk
      @bikeguyhk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

No way I'd put a disc brake on a folding bike though. They're too delicate.
