1986 - Dick Fox's Golden Boys of Bandstand - Bobby Rydell, Frankie Avalon, and Fabian - on stage @ Wolf Trap with host Beverly Sills. Even today, 25 years after this performance, these guys have still got it. They're still rockin' and rollin', serenading to sold out crowds across the country, and still the swellest bunch of fine entertainers a person could ever hope to see.

Rest In Peace, Bobby Rydell ! I loved you from the very minute i heard Wild One on the radio, back in the early 1980’s. I remember trying to sound exactly like you, throughout my numerous Karoake singing contest nights. You were one of my male role models. No matter how old you are, you will always remain as a young everlasting epic teen idol to me. Bobby Rydell was undoubtedly the best of his generation, a voice second to none & stagecraft that would rival Sinatra. A truly "Class Act."

I was only 7 when my brother and sister would play his records back in 1962. I loved them, My favorite is "The Cha-Cha-Cha" Bobby's in Heaven with all the other great singers and musicians.. God bless him. ✝✝☮☮

Selling a million records back then was a much larger accomplishment than it is today, or even in 1986. This was an incredible song.
To sell that many records back then tells you one thing, The man had great talent! He didn't have social media like they have now.
He sold his records by going out, making LIVE performances and as many TV performances.
I love to hear Bobby sing. When I was young he made me swoon and he's still got it.

I met him when he was playing in Quincy Mass at the Carlton Lounge in the Seventies and he was as nice as the songs he sung. A class performer.

And we loved that pompadour back then - he had the best hair in the business! So glad he is back at it again now after his kidney/liver transplant in 2012.

Very good voice, very talented, but oy, not exactly a stand up comic. Then again, he didn't need to be one (Even Sinatra was not especially funny during his act). RIP.
