    I listened to a Protestant college pastor speak recently, and he said that Catechisms are one of the best things you can do for your kids. Because the question-answer format tucks the theology in their brain so that when they get away from you and go to a non denomination church (that can choose their own theology) or listen to a pastor they can easily recall those questions to decipher if what they are listening to is false. He referenced a sermon by TD Jakes then said, this is contrary to this particular catechism. We use the Westminster Shorter in our morning time and simply memorize 1 per week.

    You always have the best resources! We use Sonlight and love it (pretty sure we’re lifers at this point), TGTB for LA, and BJU. But I love all the extra resources you provide and the in-depth information. Thank you so much!
    It’s been a while since I’ve been on your page, and I’m hoping you have some videos on how youre doing school, because now that I have 4 schooling (and soon 5!) I’m struggling with time. We homestead, and don’t live near town so we are home most of the time. But finding time to check everything and read everything and do all the things. 😅
    Thank you for sharing your calm, peaceful presence on YT!❤

    Wow I just watched your video from 6 years ago about why you decided to homeschool (because I was curious) and it got me a little emotional knowing that you stuck with that list and are now graduating your first child. So inspiring! 🙂

    I love all of your content! I went through TGATB prek with my daughter this year. I have a 3 year old and almost 5 year old. My question is, do you know anyone on TH-cam who has very similar values as you, but who shares about curriculum for younger aged children? There’s so much to dig through! I’m saving all of your ideas for further down the road! Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing. I have been researching a lot of bible curriculum/ books plus history, science, and more. And you basically confirmed for me all the different materials i was planning on using. Plus I'm really intrigued in the Tuttle Twins series now ❤🎉
    Question, how did you teach different history at the table with all the kids? While teaching one set of kids did the others do something else? Do they get distracted and listen in, instead of doing what they should be?
    After a 1 year pause of homeschool while i had my 4th child (they were in a christian school). I will now be homeschooling a 1st grader 4th grader, and 7th grader. Im trying to see how to make it work imwhen i do history with the older 2 and then with the little one.
    Your experience on working with the different ages throughout your homeschool journey would be a great video. I'd love to watch😉😊😊🙏🙏👍👍👍. Just a suggestion😊.

    I love these types of videos!! Although we are Catholic and therefore use Catholic resources, it always gets my brain thinking about different ways to teach various topics and types of books to be on the lookout for. I did have to cringe a bit when you said that the New City Catechism would probably be ok for Catholics...yikes. As a long time subscriber, I know it was just an off the cuff comment....but that is definitely not a Catechism for the Catholic Church lol. Looking forward to any other end of the homeschool year videos you might do and of course the homeschool room clean out...always a favorite of mine! ❤😊

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t see why a book talking about the trinity, salvation, repentance would be contrary to the catholic beliefs 👍

    • @samkingsford
      @samkingsford 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      There are lots of similarities for sure! But definitely some fundamental differences across all Christian faiths, the age old: faith alone vs faith and works, one is Protestant the other is Catholic. It's like when I pick a bible study for myself or my kids...there are 73 books in the Catholic Bible not 66...just have to be careful and aware because there are so many denominations and they all believe various things! ❤

    • @gwynethlester1421
      @gwynethlester1421 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s most likely a good catechism for most Protestants. I would say if you’re not a Protestant Christian though it would be best to ask your priest about what catechism they recommend. We are eastern Catholics (Melkite) and we wouldn’t use the same catechism that our brother Roman Catholics use.
      In essence, we all believe in the same things, for the most part. Although we can get down to splitting hairs on our perspectives about these issues.

    Is the proverbs normally hard to find for Journibles ? I was intrigued by this but searched and notice many are on sale and no Proverbs one. Hope these will still be available.

    Question: Did you read your high schoolers history lessons yourself? If not, how do you incorporate discussions with them to make sure they’re understanding what they’re reading? Also, just so I’m understanding, you read through the second book of From Adam to Us PLUS the Tuttle Twins American History books with your younger two? Thank you!

    I have a question about The New City Catechism book… My children are 7 and 9. Would you recommend the one you have or the kids version for this?
    We are in the word with them daily and they have, what I would say, is an above average amount of knowledge for their ages. So I’m unsure of which version to go with.

    If I remember correctly, you used to do more 50/50 with the more serious topics vs fun read aloud. Do you feel your kids stayed as engaged focusing on more serious topics consistently? Did they enjoy leaving the “fun” readings for their personal time?

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes they read for fun on their own. The issue really became finding something everyone enjoys. When they were all young easy! Now not so much!
