    A wise collector pointed out that I have the order of the U.S. Motorcycle versions backwards, the plug in version was first. Also the 2nd set of the U.S. Infantry were made in Great Britain before being moved to China.

      You have a great collection! Britains has recently said that they are going to release new Deetail figures (beyond the recent Deetail ACW sets). It would be great if that could happen. They have also said that they are seeing young people come to the hobby due to video games! So maybe there is a future...

    I'm a toy soldier collector, however i mostly collect metal, i thought of expanding my collection into plastics as well but every time i think about it the i cringe at the fact that they are too children oriented.
    However Britains seems nice and even i'm not interested in having them myself, i would like to see videos about the german infantry and the knights.

    • @collectorguys
      @collectorguys  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Understandable, but there are some options that are plastic and still look more like metal. Even the "Super Deetail" WW2 sets Britains currently sells look closer to painted metal figures. The new plastic figures out of the Ukraine and other places are amazing in detail, but not painted. Good luck!

      If you mean the Fort that the Foreign Legion are fighting from, it is from a company called Rich Toy, which was based in the Midwestern part of the U.S. I don't know the exact date of this castle, but it seems like they produced castles in the 1930s. I hope this helps! Here is a good history of the company: www.oldwoodtoys.com/rich_toys.htm

    The MG in the jeep was an M2 .50 caliber, not an M60 GPMG. The M1 Carbine is not the carbine version of the M1 Rifle. These two rifles share no parts on the "M1" designator.

    I managed to get a US heavy weapons set which has a mortar as per the British and German equivalent of the US and Japanese recoilless rifle version. I am curious to know if this was issued by Britain's at some point. As it is the mortar base plus die cast mortar (the recoiless base is different) with figures and looks like it is as made.

    The helicopter was not quite WW2

    • @collectorguys
      @collectorguys  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. Britains created the helicopter to be used with the Farm and Police parts of the line, so it had to be modern enough to fit with them. That said, they did market it with the WW2 sets. They did the same with the Britains Land Rover, which historically came after WW2. Thanks for watching!

    I'll say something controversial here - I think these models are rubbish! There are mould lines all over them, the painting is appalling, amateurish and all over the place; the colours are all wrong. The sculpts are okay but no more than that. I am 53 years old so I did have some Britains Deetail figures as a kid but watching these posts as an adult I don't understand why they are remembered with such great affection.

    • @collectorguys
      @collectorguys  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand your thoughts, but I think the main thing is that they are toys, not models. At the time they were much better than other "toy army men". For many they are looked at with affection now because people do remember having them as kids. But some times things (especially toys) don't hold up for you as an adult, so I get what you are saying. Thanks for watching!
