Tbh, I kinda agree. Ironic meme culture has led to people judging things more by how funny they find it than by how actually well-written or executed it is. Spider-Man 3 is not a good movie, everyone knew it in 2007. But now thanks to memes, people have convinced themselves it's a masterpiece.
Black Doom himself isn’t any more complex than he was in Shadow 2005, but I like the story concept of him plotting consume Shadow’s mind and use his body to destroy everything *far* better than “join me, Shadow… I want to kill all of humanity”.
I think he works better as well cause he has actual emotions in Shadow 05 he sounds so bored after beating devil doom but in this game he is actually Furious with his “YOU DENY ME” line also a sonic villain being one note like yeah that’s normal but since doom actually feels like the tyrannical alien overlord we are told he is he actually feels well done in this game
I can side with Lewis in that a retranslation would probably be better for 90% of the lines. But the "I found you faker" segment is basicly the "You spoony bard!" of Sonic the Hedgehog, you don't change that, it's too iconic.
Agreed; stuff where the translation straight up made no sense, e.g. "Is that what Chaos Control is?" should absolutely be retranslated, SA2 isn't the kind of script where every line has nuance that makes or breaks the narrative. Anything else, though... well, the exact same applies. This is a Sonic script, every line doesn't need to be a masterpiece; a little cheesiness is good for the soul X)
“Sayonara” in Japanese isn’t just a saying for goodbye, it literally means farewell forever. Like you mean a lot to me and we’ll never see each other again. Also a SA2 remake would be weird considering how many assets from this game they would reuse.

The story notes for Sonic 06 in this game say Shadow was commissioned by GUN, which to me implies he’s not actually working for them but more like he was asked by them for help and agreed, likely to stop Eggman. In dark beginnings he clearly doesn’t seem as cool with GUN
The president apparently asked Shadow himself to do it so I like to imagine he showed him that picture he has of him and Sonic on his desk and that convinced him
@@Kingdom850 No, he just doesn't care about asking for permission. He's cool with Rouge but even she knows that she control him. Its got nothing to do with how he personally feels about someone, its about how much he feels he needs or wants something. He needed a rocket NOW and he wasn't going to go through all the steps needed to get one the right way, so he just took it.
I thought the reason for Black Doom being alive was that he survived through the one Black Arms creature on the Ark used to create Shadow. So basically because they're a hivemind, that one was enough to have Doom survive long enough to regenerate his forces.
If the resident evil remake can get away with having that photo of scientist Wesker with the black glasses, then a sonic remake can have some silly lines.
And so another Sonic Six commentary ends. I will miss it, but at the same time I can get back to catching up on old commentaries I never watched all the way through.
Yep, the dude relived his trauma, killed his deadbeat alien father again, Reconnected with his late family, shed a single tear, and shrugged it off like nothing. Shadow really is just built different.
This ending makes the rewritten line he has before Time Eater even funnier Bro had to fight his inner and outer demons, decided to take an L again Sonic, then saw his surrogate sister disapppear to her fate. If i saw Sonic get knocked out by a giant gear hand piloted by **two** Eggmen, I'd also say "Get your ass up"
Lewis is absolutely unhinged if he thinks the reason quote iconic lines ad-nauseum is because they're *All* terrible lines. equating "we're goign to the ark, i guess that means we're going too" with the "I Found you Faker" scene is like equating "I Am Your Father" and "Tonight We're Cancelling the Apocalypse" with -the "i Did not hit her scene"- ANY Scene from The Room
@@UNSCMarine117 Then they're not opinions. They're wrong facts that someone is claiming as an opinion to get out of arguing and make the other person look close-minded. It's a classic deflection tactic. Say something factually wrong, claim it's your opinion, say the opponent is close-minded and can't "agree to disagree".
I personally think Sonic and Shadow love quoting themselves from their past adventures cause they are both huge dorks and that's how their friendship/rivalery is.
The ending scene with Maria and Gerald was truly sad but the emotional payoff we loved about SA2 and shadows story that's been evolved so much in the games he became a big part of. Such a great game.
I have a funny headcanon that Rouge forgot to do the switch, meaning that she’s the only one who knows that Sonic was able to go Super Sonic with a fake emerald, and she’s not telling anyone.
Well Sonic was able to use Chaos Control with the fake emerald. It drained him, but he was still able to do it. Wouldn't be surprised if he managed to go Super Sonic with a fake emerald, too.
Lewis out here wanting Sonic the Hedgehog to be taken as seriously as The Last of Us. It's goofy, let it be goofy. The goofiness is why so many people love Sonic, the Adventure games specifically.
The Adventure games have goofy elements wrapped around a serious shonen anime style story. I think what he means is it not being a comedy 100% of the time.
not only is it shadow being, well, better relation with the commander, it's also the whole "Shadow doesn't work for them, but he has done work for them." as shown at the twitter takeover. He's basically a freelance mercenary.
This commentary has been really weird. Like most of it is just the only two people who didn't play the game talking about shit around the game and just making assumptions based on Ryan's first playthrough. Gareth balanced everything out but without him the only people who played the game are silent for 90% of it.
Honestly, as someone who left twitter a while back and is interacting with a much more level headed part of the comunity, Teds constant complaining about the fanbase and the franchise just felt very tiring. Also, I found Lewis comment about old sonic dialogue a bit hypocritical because it reminds me of what the director of the dmc reboot said about the original games.
It's cause Lewis still believes in that stupid rumor about SA2's localization being a case of there being an original English script that was translated into Japanese and then retranslated back into English. A really stupid rumor that only spawned because folks during the early 2000s on the Internet couldn't fathom why all the FMVs in the game have English text in all regions. Spoiler: It's cause of "English = Cool" in Japan. That's it.
I love this remix of All Hail Shadow & this final boss is probably a contender for the best in the entire franchise, I think it would’ve been better if Sega forked out the cash & used Magna Fi’s Who I Am.
To add to Sonic Adventure 2 not conveying info properly in regards to the credits rant about SA2. The password Eggman uses to release Shadow is "Maria" so I have always assumed based on that G.U.N. forced Gerald to build the containment for Shadow, which would have given him an easy chance to tamper with Shadow before his execution. It just took until now for that to be clarified.
@@yagirlmayalazarus6713With the original Biolizard music style being what it was I don’t understand why they chose rock for the remix I think this contributes to Sonic Rock fatigue, like with Green Hill. It can be good, but why would they reduce it to rock Wish they dig deeper with effects and ambient noises in that track, the guitar the original had was already perfect
@ That is true, but when SonicTubers don’t like new tracks from the series A common critique is “Oh you don’t like it because it’s not rock?” (I don’t understand this argument) And with Shadow Generations, the biolizard track remixed into rock, when the original style was the perfect balance and could’ve been expanded upon Plenty of amazing songs 06 Unleashed don’t even involve a guitar or are in the rock genre, plus have tons of bass and drums
Also, my favorite Shadow song, funny enough, is "The Chosen One". Not a lot of people hum to it, but I do. The tune has a very melancholic beat, but the lyrics hit hard and the melody flows amazingly. It probably would've been considered one of the best rock songs of 2005 when it hit the charts.
I personally have a thing for "Waking Up" by Julian-K. Out of the more synth heavy tracks in the series, I think it's one of the best. It's also fun to think about it as a duet performed by Shadow and Omega. ^^
Lewis, did you ever like the vocal themes? I remember you saying that you didn't like them as early as your first SA1 playthrough or around that time (which was 13!! years ago). If you stopped liking them over a decade ago, its not surprising you don't like them now. You probably already outgrew them or thought they were cringe.
Yeah, I think he's always held that opinion on the vocal themes. Heck I think they had this exact conversation in the Sonic Adventure 1 revisited commentary.
....I honestly thought Shadow working for G.U.N. after the events of 'Shadow the Hedgehog' was to some extent trying to fulfill Maria's wish and after making peace with General Tower. And also because, as the guys pointed out, he has a solid working relationship with Rouge.
I think there are plenty of Sonic sonics that work well on the radio: "Live & Learn", "What I'm Made Of", "I Am...All of Me", "His World", "Endless Possibilities", "With Me", "Green Light Ride", "Undefeatable". Admittingly, most of them are done by Crush 40 who do go above and beyond to make Sonic music not just catchy and badass, but still.
The biggest miss of the ending of shadow gens is that they dont end it with the song "without you" from the dark beginnings because man i expected it to be here but nope guess whenever the album comes out i guess Also love we got to hear this rendition of all hail shadow early if you went to the sonic symphony concert this year
Jesus Lewis was being lamer than Ted, usually is... What a _boomer_ he's become... he used to LOVE things like Crush 40, 90's """butt rock""" (Hate that term, it's more like Glam metal/rock, tbh...) _Crush 40,_ and all the silly, good and FUN stuff Sonic once was... and is SLOWLY... **returning** to some degree; from the looks of it.

The last 2 parts with FTA's absence gives me flashbacks to the last 2 parts of HellfireComms' Sonic Generation playthrough (both console & 3DS) where Sky wasn't on them. Good times.
Maria says actually says "Adios Shadow the Hedgehog" in Japanese. I agree with Lewis on the Sonic and Shadow scene having a reference to Heroes and SA2 being forced.
I'm not gonna lie, Lewis going on about not having the iconic lines in remakes... then what's the point in making a remake? It's made for both the nostalgic fans and for newcomers and if it doesn't have those nods to the original then what the hell are you doing? Also not all the iconic lines are bad, there's plenty that are iconic because they're bad but the faker line for instance is just a matter of having better delivery because what's actually being said is fine, hell even Sonic cutting Shadow off kinda works to show how brash Sonic can be.
Also what's his beef with the "Sayonara" line? That's a very "final goodbye" phrase (including the connotation of the word specifically), what's out of place in the two places it's used (i.e. Maria dying and Shadow "dying" at the end)?
@@Ability-King-KK Ignoring the fact that I have indeed heard non-Japanese people use Japanese greetings/farewells (same with French, Spanish, Hawaiian), whether as a light-hearted joke or a genuine reply, that also leaves the matter of what the line is about: a "Last Goodbye" aid in a way they wouldn't hear normally to drive the uniqueness/finality in. I think the significance of that line gets a bit lost because of a missed reference in Shadow 2005: Shadow's "Goodbye Forever, Shadow the Hedgehog" line in Japanese was word-for-word echoing Maria's line as "Adios" (so other Languages should have been "Sayonara"), translating the meaning very directly rather than through the word's connotation.
I dunno how often this gets quoted or memed on, but in a hypothetical SA2 remake, I'll gladly hear Knuckles still saying "Ora Ora!" when digging than whatever sound he makes in his Generations mission.
Idk if the lines should change in a remake or not...but a few of the overlapping lines from bad dubbing actually improve the flow imo. "I'll make you eat those words" cutting off Shadow really drives home Sonic's irritation. Idk if it's a dubbing oversight, but when Tails asks Eggman how he knew the emerald was fake and Sonic interjects before he's done does feel more natural.
re: music. I think I sorta get where Lewis is coming from , but I also think "I can listen to it in the car" isn't the best metric. There's a lot of great AAA soundtracks, but many of them are simply atmospheric. They only really fit in that mood and aren't trying to be radio esque music you put on loop. Ratchet and Clank's first game s probably the best example of this if you want a concrete place to point to. it really does all come down to mood at the end of the day. And sometimes that mood never truly comes back for whatever reason. I was huge into dubstep in high school, and it's not like I really cringe today if I hear any. But I will probably skip over any dubstep tracks if it comes up on my playlist these days. re: remakes. I mean, we singularily don't get to choose what it iconic. And as gamers, we have horrible taste. 😂. All your base belong to us, a miserable pile of secrets, Who else will I have ice cream with? Heck, we even have decent but contradictory iconic likes like "War never changes" vs "War has changed". Iconic here more refers to memories it invokes instead of some grandstanding epic quote to inspire generations. That cringe or just funny out of context moments are part of the charm they'd create for those who look back on the games, as they remember the actually good parts of the game (or just really bad parts. IDK how fondly people look back on Shadow '05).
I mean the simple answer us that you outgrew some of the things you liked and grew to approach the things you didn't, sometimes things really are a phase and it passes. Happens with any type of media, people who watched baby shows aren't gonna care about them at a certain point outside of the good memories they had.
1:10 i was struggling with the same thing. I was kinda expecting Gerald to pull some sort of shenanigans at the last moment (like maybe this was secretly Gerald *after Maria died* and not from the same time period as Maria), but nah.
GUN probably also falsified records to let one of, if not their highest ranked member believe a lie and still blame the wrong person for Maria’s death. And they arrested Sonic for Shadow’s actions, knowing they were two separate people and stop chasing Shadow. GUN is way more incompetent and stupid than you give them credit for

Someone send Jeff Fowler the conversation about Black Doom being an eldritch horror. The butt rock fits perfectly with the tone of the games and scenes it's written for. Yes, the Resident Evil remakes got rid of all the iconic lines, but people miss Bingo and "Your right hand comes off?" The original RE4 especially was schlocky on purpose, and people loved that about it. Yeah, the remake is also good, but it didn't need to be changed. By changing something people liked, you're only going to create division and mixed responses. The entire Green Forest confrontation between Sonic and Shadow isn't iconic because the lines are bad. It's iconic because the timing of the lines was bad, but these days a lot of people realize just how cool those lines are. I don't understand how someone can think the lines are bad. What's bad about them? What's so bad about "You thought you could trick me with that fake emerald?" "How did you know it wasn't the real one?" "Because you just told me, fox boy!" What's so bad about "Talk about low-budget flights"? These are at the very least perfectly passable lines. Yeah, a lot of them are corny and sound like stuff you'd hear in a schlocky B-movie, what why is that a problem? I think that's kind of the point.
The lack of any effort in facing the Final Boss in this video never ceases to irritate me....! Especially when it's Infinite times better than the God Awful Time Eater... 11:58 Point Proven... "Congratulations".....
I'm not really a fan of the Crush 40 version of All Hail Shadow tbh. To me it sounds a little too "manufactured" for lack of a better word. I would've preferred I Am here.
Black Doom's lack of "aura" and his faustian deal offers to Shadow not being worth much on a player level are part of why I think Mephiles remains the better villain. Mephiles has a presence, and while Shadow rejects his deal, I'd argue that Mephiles wasn't really trying to tempt him as much as hurt him emotionally for the hell of it, and his offer works much better on Silver and Blaze.
They kept the bingo line in RE4 Remake, most everything else was either alluded to or referenced via the game's challenges/achievements. There's a way to have it both ways, I feel. I wouldn't mind a theoretical SA2 remake doing over its script but keeping the spirit of some of its more memorable lines. Personally, though, I'd start with and SA1 remake and making sense of whatever the hell was going on there with the same scene having different dialogue in the multiple story campaign's they show up in.
9:50 i'm 29 and i still love alot of the music i used to listen to growning up. especially the butt-rock, even with the context removed like it being in-game or during credits.. also still over rock music made for teenagers liek Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, FalloutBoy, etc. several anime OPs and EDs
My thing with Black Doom is kind of what Lewis suggested. He can have an army which would give indication that he's good at tactical planning since he's an Overlord Leader, you need to have that mindset, but they also could've had it where he goes straight Elderitch entity where he couldn't spiritually die but is a living parasitic mass of energy. That could be why he's come back and he's a world eater of some kind. As for the music argument thing, I get that he's lost taste in them, but Lewis, Rock ain't leaving Sonic the Hedgehog. For one thing, the genre itself is meant to be played with high amounts of energy, and Sonic's always have that kind of attitude. Secondly, I find it a bit assinine that you can say that the songs aren't listenable outside of the games. Like for some people maybe, but others they might still listen to them not just because they think it sounds good but also because they might've gotten inspired by them. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny Gioeli's tone was acquired just by practicing the techniques that other Rock Legends like Freddie Mercury, AC DC or even Axel Rose's performances.
Devil Doom is basically Sonic's Death Egg Robot for comparison's sake, why it's the final boss in Shadow's campaign while the Death Egg Robot is the first boss of the entire game. And this is where the whole "moustache-twirling evil easy to understand" falls flat given what has happened in the past five years as 2025 approaches. You can't even begin to fathom how something as obvious as Dick Dastardly being able to obtain so much obscene wealth and ungodly amount of power in a very short amount of time, within that time frame, and managed to buy a 44 billion dollar website only to run it to the ground as people were mean to him.
I was pleasantly surprised that they remixed Black Doom's battle theme (Aka the one from the "En Garde, Swift Strike" fight) from the original game. That was always one of my favourite pieces
Well, this was one commentary filled with ups, downs and all-arounds, but it was quite a ride the whole way through. Even if what the future may hold for these black and blue hedgehogs will be forever in flux, at least we can always count on these four-plus-two goofy dinguses to keep providing a healthy dose of tangents, hot takes and gut-busting hilarity. 100k well-earned. Okay I can't be the only one who was certain that Shadow would take off the inhibitor rings at the end and absolutely cook Black Doom for good, right? Only to be disappointed beyond belief that that's not what ended up happening?
I'm more in agreeing with Ted about script remakes. I think "in general" fixing the translation to be closer to the OG JP script would be good. Fixing up lines like "is this what choas control is" would be nice. But keep the very iconic stuff like "I found you faker," ect... As long as the grammar is solid, I think the iconic stuff can stay.
"it's just a one eyed tentacle dragon with an elongated trunk like neck, there's nothing phalic about it" Lewis, come on now, don't make me agree with ted
The final boss of Shadow Generations took me three tries, as well as Time Eater in the original game too. but Black Doom was a good punching bag to beat again. even though, I never played Shadow The Hedgehog and I never will.
Besides a story involving Shadow and Maia's sister, I want a story holding GUN accountable for all the horrible shit they did. They did a LOT of horrible stuff to Gerald, the people of the ArK, and Shadow (not to mention Maria) for them to not face any repercussions for it. Like, they pressured a man who only wanted to help people and cure his granddaughter into making weapons for them. And then they shot his Granddaughter and several of his colleges (and him) for doing literally what they ordered him to do!
I HATED this boss so much. The first half was actually pretty fun, but Neo Devil Doom took me 25 minutes and I hated it. I streamed to a friend on Discord, and they witnessed my endless frustration
Classic, the "flying tear". Sonic Team must really hate Shadow. They reunite Shadow with Maria, just to yank her away again and forcing Shadow to say goodbye. Like a certain someone said: "Everything is life that makes you happy, is eventually gonna make you sad. If nothing else, when you are passing on one day".
What Clement said about Gerald's diary describing more details about what happened after the raid on the Ark isn't true at all. He was right about the last entry being the same as the one in SA2, but that was also the first (and only) entry to be written after Maria died.
Well in japanese they said Adios Shadow the hedgehog. And Adios is bye in Spanish they just wanted to keep the foering word and so they say Sayonara instead of Adios.
I'm going to be honest. I was indifferent to Shadow all these years. i did see him as a good character but he wasn't my favorite sonic character (that was Knuckles) but this game really pushed Shadow as my favorite sonic character now.
I can accept the former, but I call BS on the latter. Team Dark may not be as open as Team Sonic when it comes to expressing their friendship, but they're friends.

That is the feeling I get also.
I think it's more-so that he's sick of meme culture gaslighting people into liking bad media. It happened with the Star Wars Prequels, Spider-Man 3, etc etc.. Memes about bad dialogue being loved somehow convinced people that dialogue was actually good and that's why they like it. Lewis seems to really not be fond of that trend. The concept of "so bad it's good" is already something he's expressed disagreement with before, so "so bad it's good" stuff going through a trend of suddenly being good good and people screaming bloody murder at you if you dare say it's bad (Again, see Star Wars fans who decided the prequels are masterpieces and you're an idiot who doesn't understand Star Wars if you disagree) really doesn't align with him.
He seems to hate when things get to be revolute in a positive light. He wants to stick to his own opinion and not change his mindind as time goes on.
No idea what Lewis is going on about, I listen to Sonic music whenever and wherever, even while I'm at work.
Definitely have Sonic music in my playlists along side other stuff I listen to. But I get not jiving with them anymore.
i have seen enough remarks to confidently say
idk why ryan calls himself the boring one when lewis is right there
Gareth really needed to be here for that discussion
@@Kyonne25I really do think Gareth would have popped off hard
@@Kyonne25 "WHAT ARE YOU FUCKIN STOOPID!?"
there ya go
Black Doom himself isn’t any more complex than he was in Shadow 2005, but I like the story concept of him plotting consume Shadow’s mind and use his body to destroy everything *far* better than “join me, Shadow… I want to kill all of humanity”.
I also like the whole "abusive dad" angle he has going on in this.
This commentary was worth every single part start to finish. I’m going to miss this one. Ryan, Johnny, Lewis, Clement, Garreth (Sorry if I spelled it wrong), *….and Ted I guess (you know I’m kidding, folks).* there was a reason I couldn’t get enough of you guys back when I was a teen. I don’t say this often to people, but thanks for the memories.
You make it sound like this is the end of BSC.
@@deterlanglytone Not the end, but it's rare that we get all these people together like this anymore, especially Gareth, but even a lot of recent BSC commentaries don't always have Ryan, Johnny, Lewis, AND Ted at once so occasions like this are a lot more cherished.
Black Doom was heavily implied to be still on the Ark before the Time Eater shows up. So he didn't come out of nowhere.
Shadow generations, where Lewis has a counceling session in the comentary.
I think Lewis hates fun lmao
I don't think he hates fun. I just think his idea of fun is very different from a lot of people's.
He's going through a crotchety old man moment, something like a mid life crisis.
You think? 😂
Opinion different from mine. Clearly a hater of fun.
@@Kingdom850 its wild how tastes can change as you get older. Liking the beetles is a really funny way to have it manifest though
The story notes for Sonic 06 in this game say Shadow was commissioned by GUN, which to me implies he’s not actually working for them but more like he was asked by them for help and agreed, likely to stop Eggman. In dark beginnings he clearly doesn’t seem as cool with GUN
Also just so you know, in the Japanese version of SA2, instead of “Sayonara” they say “adios”
The president apparently asked Shadow himself to do it so I like to imagine he showed him that picture he has of him and Sonic on his desk and that convinced him
Its not the he's not cool with GUN, its that he doesn't give a damn about asking for permission.
@@CometX-ing So he's not cool with gun.
Lewis was in big "I hate fun" mode in this video.
Not really. It's just that preferences change. (Now if he said that no one should enjoy crush 40, then I would say that he hates fun.)
"I have negative opinions on some aspects of this piece of media I still enjoy overall" =/= "I hate fun"
I thought the reason for Black Doom being alive was that he survived through the one Black Arms creature on the Ark used to create Shadow. So basically because they're a hivemind, that one was enough to have Doom survive long enough to regenerate his forces.
It is. They just don’t know that
Lewis' droning on this part reminded me why I've been struggling to keep up with BSC playthroughs
Don't watch the _God of War_ commentaries then or else you'll have a bad time.
If the resident evil remake can get away with having that photo of scientist Wesker with the black glasses, then a sonic remake can have some silly lines.
And so another Sonic Six commentary ends. I will miss it, but at the same time I can get back to catching up on old commentaries I never watched all the way through.
Remember he goes through all of this and then immediately says "On your feet" to Sonic when fighting the Time Eater
Yep, the dude relived his trauma, killed his deadbeat alien father again, Reconnected with his late family, shed a single tear, and shrugged it off like nothing. Shadow really is just built different.
"You know what shit I just did? Your ass hasn't dealt with anything, get up"
This ending makes the rewritten line he has before Time Eater even funnier
Bro had to fight his inner and outer demons, decided to take an L again Sonic, then saw his surrogate sister disapppear to her fate. If i saw Sonic get knocked out by a giant gear hand piloted by **two** Eggmen, I'd also say "Get your ass up"
Iconic lines in Sonic come in 2 forms...
There are lines that are genuinely memorable and ones that are...meme-worthy.
Sometimes both.
Tails: True dat.
Im just gonna say it.
There are very few objective options when it comes to music since it is one of if not the most subjective things on the planet.
"Objective opinions" is an oxymoron.
@@jlev1028
No. You can have wrong opinions.
"Jenny, it's Pearl. 'Rizz' is DEFINITELY OUT!"
Hahahah😂
I have a funny headcanon that Rouge forgot to do the switch, meaning that she’s the only one who knows that Sonic was able to go Super Sonic with a fake emerald, and she’s not telling anyone.
That would explain why the ring drain is so much worse here than literally any other instance besides Zero Gravity.
Also, I found Lewis comment about old sonic dialogue a bit hypocritical because it reminds me of what the director of the dmc reboot said about the original games.
.....what the hell is wrong with sayonara?
It's cause Lewis still believes in that stupid rumor about SA2's localization being a case of there being an original English script that was translated into Japanese and then retranslated back into English.
A really stupid rumor that only spawned because folks during the early 2000s on the Internet couldn't fathom why all the FMVs in the game have English text in all regions.
Spoiler:
It's cause of "English = Cool" in Japan. That's it.
“I assume the fight is bad because he has no depth as a character”
…what?
BSC logic
I love this remix of All Hail Shadow & this final boss is probably a contender for the best in the entire franchise, I think it would’ve been better if Sega forked out the cash & used Magna Fi’s Who I Am.
I hope they mod in I Am All Of Me for Phase 2 (The Doom Morph Phase). The Final Boss needed that song without overriding All Hail Shadow.
@@smashmaster521 Vice-versa. All of Me for phase 1 and this remix for phase 2.

I'm I the only one who doesn't consider Crush 40 and stuff like that "butt rock"?
Because it’s not butt rock. It’s just cheesy but being cheesy doesn’t make it butt rock.
@@yagirlmayalazarus6713With the original Biolizard music style being what it was I don’t understand why they chose rock for the remix
I think this contributes to Sonic Rock fatigue, like with Green Hill. It can be good, but why would they reduce it to rock
Wish they dig deeper with effects and ambient noises in that track, the guitar the original had was already perfect
@ Rock fatigue? Sonic hasn’t really done straight rock music for like 7+ years now lol
@ That is true, but when SonicTubers don’t like new tracks from the series
A common critique is “Oh you don’t like it because it’s not rock?”
(I don’t understand this argument)
And with Shadow Generations, the biolizard track remixed into rock, when the original style was the perfect balance and could’ve been expanded upon
Plenty of amazing songs 06 Unleashed don’t even involve a guitar or are in the rock genre, plus have tons of bass and drums
It’s not Rizz, Ted it’s Aura.
I listen to sonic songs whenever I feel like it and I love most of them wholeheartedly
Shadow Generations made me like Shadow as a character again.
I love that one, it's so good.
I don't think Lewis ever like them.
I also remembered him saying he never liked the vocal themes.
Yeah, I think he's always held that opinion on the vocal themes. Heck I think they had this exact conversation in the Sonic Adventure 1 revisited commentary.
This is kind of a strange part for me, who's been getting even more into Sonic soundtracks and Linkin Park than I was back in the day.
....I honestly thought Shadow working for G.U.N. after the events of 'Shadow the Hedgehog' was to some extent trying to fulfill Maria's wish and after making peace with General Tower. And also because, as the guys pointed out, he has a solid working relationship with Rouge.
TIL: Rizz is a play on the word charisma. I guess my generation aren’t completely pulling these terms outta their ass
Still cringe.
@@jlev1028 Meh
Idk Lewis, my four month old really loves my version of throw it all away, so maybe sonic music is actually universal
The biggest miss of the ending of shadow gens is that they dont end it with the song "without you" from the dark beginnings because man i expected it to be here but nope guess whenever the album comes out i guess
Also love we got to hear this rendition of all hail shadow early if you went to the sonic symphony concert this year
I want to tell BrainScratch Comms that the playlist is not in proper order. I don't blame you guys, it could be a youtube bug.
We needed Gareth in here as the Resident Sonic Gens Re-write hater to back up everyone else with keeping the iconic lines from SA2
Why would reusing popular lines in a REMAKE sound forced thats like the one context its completely acceptable 😂
Jesus, Lewis was on one haha
Jesus Lewis was being lamer than Ted, usually is...
What a _boomer_ he's become... he used to LOVE things like Crush 40, 90's """butt rock""" (Hate that term, it's more like Glam metal/rock, tbh...)
_Crush 40,_ and all the silly, good and FUN stuff Sonic once was... and is SLOWLY... **returning** to some degree;
from the looks of it.
Exactly. Removing the lines and the cutting off part removes some of the charm and then it's not the same.
Also what's his beef with the "Sayonara" line? That's a very "final goodbye" phrase (including the connotation of the word specifically), what's out of place in the two places it's used (i.e. Maria dying and Shadow "dying" at the end)?
@@papershadow Apparently it's because Maria isn't Japanese, so in his mind it's awkward for her to say it.
Don't forget Eggman's "Yosh" and "Olé!"
I love that crush 40 song.
@1:31
“You thought it was Time-Eater, but IT WAS ME, NEO!!”
21:05 I've heard that that's a myth and it was originally written in Japanese and translated pretty poorly
GUN is way more incompetent and stupid than you give them credit for
14:36 - Johnny: The last thing we see is Shadow buying a Lamborghini
The Game Awards 2024: SEGA reveal a trailer for Sonic Racing Cross Worlds featuring Shadow in his new Lamborghini
I think that's kind of the point.
petition to replace lewis with gareth NOW
The lack of any effort in facing the Final Boss in this video never ceases to irritate me....! Especially when it's Infinite times better than the God Awful Time Eater... 11:58 Point Proven... "Congratulations".....
Neo Devil Doom looks like something from Stranger Things
I honestly got Mara from _Persona_ vibes from his appearance.
I'm not really a fan of the Crush 40 version of All Hail Shadow tbh. To me it sounds a little too "manufactured" for lack of a better word. I would've preferred I Am here.
OG All Hail Shadow is GOATED in the Devil Doom fight, especially since it's the Pure Hero theme
As this comment was made 11 hours ago, I hope you had a restful night's sleep.
Sayonara, Brainscratch the Commentaries... you know, until the next part of Castlevania is uploaded :P
"it's just a one eyed tentacle dragon with an elongated trunk like neck, there's nothing phalic about it"
Lewis, come on now, don't make me agree with ted
The song name drops at the credits had me in stitches. Iconic Brainscratch moment
14:39 Ow, the Emotional Edge.
Honestly, I half expected Devil Doom to fade out as a Phantom Ruby projection. This could've been Infinite's moment of revengeance.
What Clement said about Gerald's diary describing more details about what happened after the raid on the Ark isn't true at all. He was right about the last entry being the same as the one in SA2, but that was also the first (and only) entry to be written after Maria died.
This final battle was so damn good! Perfect end to such a great game!
I’d be okay with Lovecraftian Doom.
If I'm not mistaken, officially he doesn't work for GUN or have a team (team dark), he just works with them sometimes
I can accept the former, but I call BS on the latter. Team Dark may not be as open as Team Sonic when it comes to expressing their friendship, but they're friends.
In this part, lewis is now plankton.
