Sankrida village is in the Bheden block of Bargarh district, Odisha. Goddess Bindhyabasini is worshiped here, after whom the mountain has been named. It is believed that the Goddess has a tremendous religious influence on the minds of the people of this village and the nearby area.
Bindhyabasini mountain covers an area of around 200 acres along with 50 acres of pastureland at the foot. Apart from that, the people of Sankrida village have further donated 27 acres of land for the management of the rites and rituals of the Goddess.
The main festival of the Goddess falls every year on the full moon night of the month of Chaitra.
Usually all in family try to reach and seek Blessings of Maa Bindhyabasini atleast once in a year during this time.Earlier,almost 20 years back, we used to climb the stony hill through a rough path.But now there are systematic
concrete steps which makes the journey more smooth & enjoyable.Along with the Divine Darshan of Maa Bindhyabasini ,the to and fro journey of the Hilltop is very enjoyable where we come across different friends and relatives, amazing traditional stuffs and varieties of traditional yummy sweets by both sides .Apart from this the beauty of village life in particular attracts me to come here again and again .May Maa Bindhyabasini Bless all with good health and happiness 🙏🧿
