Most commonly, oil will get to the cylinders through the piston rings if the bike was down for a bit since they have a little slot where it can sip through, had it happen plenty of times at my shop, and dont worry if it happens, its very common, just take the plugs out, crank it and then start it, might take a while to burn all that oil but just get her hot and will be just fine
Interesting 🤔 I've heard this. But why wouldn't it seep back down when the bike is upright?
@@ChaosCauses since the bike is in a new position, the lowest point on the cylinder may no longer be where the slot is, so the oil will just puddle there.
I see! This has been bothering me all week. Thanks for the info!
@@ChaosCauses I suppose since when the bike is down all 3 or whathever liters of oil are pushing to seep through, when she is upright only a few mililiters so might take a lot longuer
You beat me to it - this is absolutely correct!
4:48 Ain’t no way that someone actually learned something from WhistlinDiesel 😂😂
There's a first time for everything lol
What video taught you? Just out of curiosity
Probably from where his red g wagon hydro locked from throwing it in a hause😂 but then bent rods from trying to start it
WD is a goto guide for lots of things... not to do.
How to consume a ton of money by trashing functional stuff.
It's fun watching you rebuild a bike, because you're not an expert, so we all get to learn at the same time.
This video brought an automatic smile on my face after hearing that engine roar to life. Happy to see this problem figured out!
Real men have manual smiles
@@dhananjayringe people that have to put an effort into smiling aren't genuinely happy.
Dude the hose clamp and hammer is great, thanks for the tip.
Part of the reason I use K&N filters with the nut welded on top 😁 The other reason being I think they're good filters.
Yess, i've found another video to delay studying for my exams!!
Gl bro, gl
But you must study for exams, so that you can earn money, so you can buy/ride bike and enjoy a bit.
Loving this series man, keep on making great content
Stop wasting your life in front of a screen go live it!
Got a real good chuckle when you turned that thing over and hosed everything down with oil. I was POSITIVE you were going to cover it with a towel or something before you tried, lol.
lol I’ll know for next time
I once overfilled a ninja 1000 with oil. Rode it all half way to work about 20 miles and it was fine with modest lean angles. I got off the highway and rode up and down a small hill and before I even made it down the hill I noticed a bunch of smoke shooting out the tail pipes. Immediately hit the kill switch and got it towed home. Tore the bike down and realized my screw up once I got the airbox open. Used a suction tool to remove as much oil as possible from the airbox. Knowing that oil had made its way that far I also pulled the spark plugs and used the same suction tool to remove any oil that made its way into the cylinders. Put it all back together and fired it up. The bike burnt off any residual oil and things were back to normal. All I have to say is make sure to read your manual to determine whether the level is check on the side stand or off it balanced vertically....
Dang. I read my manual around my Zontes 350R and almost foxtrot my oil changing for the exact problem. Replacing the oil filter would require 1.7L instead of 1.6, just slightly overfilled, yet the damn thing almost choked on oil as I noticed the reading level was off. Had to use a stand to level the bike, drain some oil then check again with a dip stick, then add some of them oil back. Trail of smoke did come out the pipe though, so my evening ride at the park was kinda ruined.
is really that difficult check engine oil level after messing up?😂
@@Tonyx.yt. it is if your dumb
@@hainhatphung1371 yea it just came down to negligence and thinking i knew better. But in the end no harm done and lessons learned.
@@ChristianGuadalupe13”Let him who hast neverth over-filleth the liquid oil be first into my kingdom” said Jesus, but no one stepped forwards for they had all over-fillethed the oil.
Seeing what it takes just to see the spark plugs on that Honda makes me appreciate my Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 even more.
Same here, just realized I was enjoying the Kawasaki's maintenance-friendly engineering all this time without knowing what Honda can put its mechanics through..
I could get to all 4 sparkplugs on my Ninja in about 5mins, with half of that time just removing the tank.
@@raoulrr I can reach both of mine while sitting on the seat!
you can hardly compare your bike to a 1000cc supersport tbh.
@@kowalski2334 my ninja WAS a supersport, high-rev inline4 with dual injectors, from the exact same era as this Honda, which was its direct competitor
@@kowalski2334 I can considering I give no value to horsepower that is ridiculously greater than needed. The GT is an exceptionally enjoyable bike to ride.
Your method if removing oil from the cilinders by cranking it is basically what mechanics do if an engine is hydrolocked. It's also a good idea to disconnect the injectors so they don't inject fuel into the cilinders which instantly gets shot out again and it could even ignite if you're not careful about any open flames nearby.
Amazing. Everybody went woooow here when the bike started. Keep working on it, we all are waiting for the moment that bike gets out for a ride
Dude, the music that bike made when it finally cranked up was so good. I was so glad for you given how much you'd already spent on parts before verifying whether or not it was a money pit.

@@franklinwilkerson2061 would you gratitude be lessened if Jesus was a ginger? (With no soul, obviously)
Old time subscriber here. Loving this new series so freakin much. I am literally excited for the upcoming episodes.
It is a sweet, sweet feeling when you first get an engine to run. Congratulations!
Bro just won in life, you've achieved every DIY Mechanics' dream 💖
Absolutely love this series, so glad you could finally start it! Move on!
was really happy when the engine roared to life all of a sudden! made my day!!
mannn! i love this series. it made me smile today, thank you!
I literally jumped out of my seat with happiness when the bike started..... 11:04
Happy to be a part of your journey
Good luck with the rest....
Eagerly waiting for part #3
Wow, the fact that it started just from that!!
You used the oil filter tool in the wrong direction my friend
Glad to see your channel has grown so much. Been following you since you started the channel! Keep growing and keep up with the dope content
try turning the "oil filter removal tool" around ;) they usually work only one way
and the engine temperature doesn't play a huge role when doing a compression test, especially not with "crude" analog gauges
Raucous sound and smoke to choke on. You must have murdered a bunny or two with this Honda. 😂 Great to see that it started!! Well done.👍
already in love with this series
Video starts at 00:01
Thank you ❤
Thanks
You missed quite a lot in one second
Thanks I would’ve lost so much time without you ❤❤❤
Video ends at 12:09
😂
this oil splash must've seriously messed up with your OCD 😅😅,
good luck with this project,
I wish you it would turn out so nicely as your blue R1
7:52 the oil dripping from the left handlebar... absolutely comedic and horrifying at the same time
Wheeeee! I’m glad you got it running. I LOL’ed at the expletive- thanks for keeping it in the edit.
Cool series, keep it up! I love the whole 'let's give it a shot' vibe. That's how we all learn 👍🏾
She lives 😂 long sigh of relief there!
So happy and glad that you got it running !! I am excited to see what it brings next !! All the best . Best wishes
What a win. Nice work bro, really looking forward to seeing this thing back to its full glory
Bruh your content and production on your channel mixed with the comedy has always been so good.
So underrated and deserves more attention/subs 🫡
That's a very neat wiring arrangement with all the connectors on the airbox. And pretty scary too! 😬
Congrats on the start!
If you're really curious on the condition of the engine, you could send the old oil to oil analysis lab.
didn't expect the next vid to come out so soon you just earned a new sub since I wanna see this to the end!
I hope you succeed in returning that beauty to its glory, I'm sure you can!
Regards from Chile.
YES!!!! It's alive!!!!
The oil filter wrench isn’t broken…. You’re using the tool upside down. You were using it in the “filter on” orientation. The wrench has a friction “strap” and when you put load on the handle it should get tighter and tighter until the filter starts to move.
For those who don't know: this video is from Chaos Causes
Yet here am I on my 50cc, next year 125 though!
I wish you have more videos every week. Other than that I love the Vids you put out. Keep up the good work
Regarding the compression tester: Grab a long socket of proper size and cut of the side of it so that it look kinda like a socket for lambda probes. Then use that to tighten down the compression-tool in the hole for the spark plug. :)
Congratulations, nice to hear a runner again!
So stoked you were able to get it started!!
For future reference: Ever since motorcycle internals got as tight as modern car engine bays, right angle adapters have been made to thread into the spark plug holes first before attaching to the rest of the compression gauge via an air chuck.
Also, a track accident may be the correct deduction, it's just that the owner simply swapped out his worn front tire with the Michelin before the rubber side up event 🤣
I'd say definitely just leave it outside idling for a while. It will still get it up to operating temperature and burn out all the oil. Sooner you do that the better I would guess
I’m so glad it fired up. Love your work and videos 👍
My heart was beating faster when you went to try turn on the bike after the new plugs. It was as if I was there working on the bike myself and praying it would work haha.
wow i’m so happy it fired up!! and that sound 🔥
*the greatest mechanic has ever lived*
One of the best series you've done, can't wait for the next video!
If you ever want to try using the compression tester again, an O2 sensor tool can sometimes help
You could send a sample of the oil away for analysis. That can tell you about the health of the engine and give early warning of any impending mechanical catastrophes. In the UK, it only costs about £40.
Can't wait for the next video of this series!! 🤩
Oh man, we are so happy for you!
I love there vids you produce. Been subscribed for a long time and always find your vids interesting and fun. Looking forward to the next. 😊
Awesome video series this as I own the exact same 1000rr just in red, great to see what’s involved in getting to the spark plugs also as I plan on doing any maintenance myself👌🏻👍🏼
They are a beautiful bike to ride once you get her back running🙂
It was great to see she fired up on the first tip and has that mighty inline 4 growl
Lucky boy!! good to see and hear it fire and run!!!
Am ready for the next episode man!
Loving your clips bro!! Keep them coming!
I just come here to watch someone use a power drill on a motorcycle 😜 Loving the videos, you have genuinely inspired me in getting a bike of mine running again. 💜
When it started I got such a dpamine rush bru😂 Congrats
Well done, Justin! Keep calm and mechanical 🤣 looking forward to next one...
You should be good to go if the engine fired right up like that. Sounds healthy.
My thoughts exactly,my 1000rr was in spotless condition when I bought it but it was laying up for close on a year it’s fuel had gone off in the tank but a few fresh tanks of fuel it runs like a clock now….id say this bike would be no different once it burns off the excess oil and he filled it up with the right amount.🤞🏻
Honda and Suzuki are really reliability masters.
love these series mate, keep it going
Ah yes, i instantly knew what was about to happen when you tried turning it over without covering it🤣 Sounds like it runs fine!
I am very excited for this series ❤❤❤
Man i'm so excited for this bad boy.
Loving it man! Get the fireblade to life❤
Love the story-telling video style, very engaging. Also, wear saftey glasses when looking down at engines about to vomit their contents. 😆
Removing a oil filter with a hose clamp is pretty clever.
I'm really starting (scuse the pun) to enjoy this series.
Man these series are more interesting than some shows I need more updatessss and a long ep pls❤❤😂
Well done !
( I would like to work on such a project, only if I had time, and space to work on. )
Anyways, happy to watch you work on this repair.
Looking forward for next stage..
IT LIVES!!!!
Nice work! Serious win 🏆
That amount of oil can't possibly be the correct spec. When it started up it put a big smile on my face. I hope the rest of the resto goes well.
Judging by the damage and the race mode, it could have been lowsided on track and then it slid into the barriers. Then the person before you has replaced the front slick to claim it as a road accident.
Bingo, insurance fraud for sure. My suspicion is the front wheel was too damaged so they replaced it with another one. A front tyre doesn't survive a head on that bends the front forks like that.
@@LookingForEntertainment112 also worth mentioning that the radiator would have been bent or at least damaged, and the top of the steering rack damaged if it had been an head on collision. But when the bike slides all the way to the barriers, the friction with the road (which has ground down the swing arm) slow the bike down enough to "only" damages the forks and the front wheel. Also possible that the previous owner removed the lights before the insurance claim as they were taped up for track use. As it wouldn't make any sense on them being totally missing, housing and all.
Good job. Open the garage door next time 😂
Dang great job that thing sounds beast!!
Amazing video can't wait to see this honda on road
Good work mate, looking forward to next vid 🎉
Nice to see a Cornish hoodie being worn 😁
Glad you got it running. Still warching the video, but should run some seafoam through it to help clean that oil off
Haha I said to myself I hope he’s put some rag over the top of the engine in case he’s right. Then boom a Castrol shower 😂😂.
Glad the bike fired straight up, looking forward to the rebuild.
Babe wake up, Chaos posted
You absolutely need to do a streetfighter conversion...
i second this
It lives 🥳
Awakened the sleeping beast!
That thing sounds like a monster
Amazing job! Well done
I'm just watching as WOW! All this is new to me, but I'm watching! I have a new CBR 650R but my future holds a Fireblade! No time soon! LOL I like living!
You are a fighter, I salute you 🙋🏻♂️👏🏼👍🏼👌🏻
Just curious question. Does modern superbike or naked bike have something like OBD2 port (most modern car have this for diagnosis)? If so, it would be lovely if you can show this technology on that crash Honda in next video.
Good progress really hope this works!!
