DC would dunk Periera on his head. With the threat of the takedown Periera won't tee off like he did against Izzy, Jiri, and Hill. DC's beaten stronger guys with better takedown defense
DC also hasn’t faced someone with a mix of elite striking and power like Pereria. Pereria was still throwing a lot against Blachowicz even tho he knew Blachowicz would shoot take downs.

Anderson Silva, the grappling prodigy who's largely considered one of the Top 5 in the history of the sport? You don't say... 🤔🤔🤔
Anderson Silva was 100% way better on the ground than Alex at least by that point in his career. Although I do agree with your general point DC ain’t Charles Oliveira lol; still definitely good enough to get Alex down and keep him there if he doesn’t eat a left hook coming in though.
But he also beat all the top Light Heavyweights in the division except for one who happened to be Jon Jones. He beat one of the best Heavyweights in the UFC too.
Silva is a bbj black belt and has multiple submission wins ???
Silva is an actual BJJ black belt, unlike Pereira
I love Poatan. But I would never sit here and allow such slander against dc. My glorious king dc slams Alex 8/10 times.
I would say DC by crucifix TKO
DC did super well for someone who started doing MMA and striking so late and for such a short guy for that division and he was old in most of his later title fights but like GSP said, most current high level fighters would beat pretty much all previous generation elites
I know Alex isnt really proven on the ground, but cmon, the year is 2024 and people still think being a wrestler is an instant win against an striker. Alex jabbing up DC to the body then catching him with a left hook is completely possible scenario
Ik even the worst wrestlers at the top of each division won’t get wragdolled by the best wrestlers because take down defense is much more trained and common in todays mma landscape especially with strikers. Everyone still thinks this is 2014 where wrestlers can just take people down and win at will. Not only has take down defense improved but overall skill and striking has too. We have wayyyy more well rounded fighters and elite strikers in today’s ufc.
Anderson Silva did better against DC on 2 days' notice than anyone gives him credit for. He almost TKO'd DC in the end of the 3rd round.
I'd be interested in prime Anderson Silva vs. Alex Pereira.
But DC either holds Alex down for 5 rounds or gets knocked out. He can't contest on the feet

This is just patently false. DC would thrash Alex in like 8/10 scenarios, Alex might get a few KOs but he'd have to risk opening himself up to takedowns. I agree that Rumble isn't a good comparison to Alex, but obviously the comparison is meant to demonstrate the level of dominance DC would display.
Alex would kill him on the feet, yes. He is amazing at picking people from range. The calf kicks add up. All true. But are we really going to act like Pereira would survive a single round on the ground?
"Super safe, defensive and rides out the round" means NOTHING against DC. He is miles, miles, miles above the combined grappling skills of Jiri, Jan, and Izzy combined. Once DC grabs ahold of Alex, I really only see 2 possibilities:
1) Mat return after mat return -> TKO or sub
2) "stays defensively sound" and then gets outgrappled and subbed or TKOed from GnP.
Let's be real, Alex is underrated on the ground but he is not good enough to survive DC's onslaught. Any example provided is irrelevant because there isn't a single fighter in LHW currently with DC's grappling prowess.
He has to avoid getting taken down at all costs to have a chance , which he would fail at imo. There's no reason DC would struggle subbing or TKOing a guy like Alex, the skill gap is too big.
what subs from DC lol? His only sub was against Dan hendo, Johnson, and lewis. Couldnt even sub roy nelson or josh barnett.... oh and all his subs came from RNC. So now if ur thinking he will TKO then maybe? But Silva survived 3 rounds short notice. An younger silva that got dominated by chael in similar fashion. So you think Dc was nice? Or are you just overhyping his ability to finish on the ground
@@mavin-u7nHe also tko’d Volkan Oezdemir in the 2nd round in a crucifix.

I'm usually not one to say this but the Poatan glaze is getting insane. He's NEVER had to face an aggressive wrestler/submission specialist like DC or Jon Jones. I'm a big fan of the guy but people act like he hasn't had favorable match ups his entire UFC career.
I'm honestly in full agreement. Ya i'd be able to take Alex down easily rnd 1 but if he stays on his back and frames well, I wont be able to do much, my only chance would be if he gives up his back which I don't think he'd be dumb enough to do, he'd most likely do exactly what he did in the first Jiri fight and just stay safe, then as the fight goes on its gonna be harder and harder to take him down. It's true I rarely look for takedowns in the latter half of the fight and I have no idea how i'd close the distance with his power and striking ability, I depend on guys like Rumble to throw recklessly. Gustafsson fucked me up bad I was lucky to keep my belt in that fight. I'm utterly terrified of this matchup

He gave up his back to Izzy & Jan who aren't wrestlers lol, wdym he's not dumb enough. DC ragdolls this guy
@Nykandros taking someone's back is a skill from bjj not wrestling, Jan has more rear naked choke finishes in his career than DC does and couldn't finish Alex.

you made good points about Alex's stand up being a huge issue for Daniel but the comparison of grappling between a DC and Jiri is gonna be day and night by a mile. Dc has alot more options for holding Alex P down and opening him for clean shots during g n p sequences. Also Gustafosson does throw alot of volume but hes definitely got high level accuracy but I would say Alex P is still more accurate
DC is more of a 5'9 guy, too
Lucky to beat pereira once? lol
If dc gets a takedown do you think Alex will do better at getting back up than any heavyweight DC crushed?
FYI rumble has better TD defence and grappling than Alex.
Dc is crazy good but i agree with this alexs power timing and accuracy and those kicks man would cause DC massive issues
this guy might be an Olivera fan
Lucky to win once? 😂bro Alex has great takedowns against the fence but we don’t have any proof that he can defend takedowns in open space against a short wrestler and we never will.
DC would smoke him.
One of the only fighters who punches anywhere near decent. It’s no surprise he’s annihilating the competition. Exposing all the “elite striking” in UFC for the joke it is.
DC would rag doll Pereira. Adesanya took Pereira what do you think DC would do?
Do you even saw a video? DC didnt have a cardio to wrestle for 5 rounds and Pereira is hard to submit once DC will be forced to stand - Alex gonna put him away
@@РиконСтарк-ь2иhard To submit ? Alex never fought a grappler like dc
Adesanya failed all his takedowns against Alex. He did land on top when Alex failed a trip (which I believe he won't try against DC). Alex also took Izzy down with a double leg.
So are we gonna pretend like Alex Pereira wouldn’t be slowed down from wrestling with dc, we gone pretend like dc taking him down and wearing on him forcing him to try and get back up that wouldn’t zap his gas tank at all? We just gone act like we haven’t seen Alex lose some steam on his punches after grappling the Jan fight his shots had less steam after the grappling for the ppl that are gonna say it was at elevation the izzy fight his shots had less steam round 4 after grappling the previous round like I understand that dc is gonna have to stand with him but we just gone pretend like Alex’s standup isn’t gonna be hindered by the threat of the takedown plus dc’s ability to wear on u and overwhelm u????
Edit: for the dc not going for late takedowns are we also gonna pretend like Dc didn’t choose to wrestle less against Stipe and Gus because the effort it took him to get them down and control wasn’t worth the reward is Alex Pereira as good at defending takedowns as Gus and stipe???? Does he do a great job of getting off his back??? The answer is hell no he literally gets controlled turtled in his early fights or nowadays stays on his back yetis to get wrist control or frame off and he doesn’t try to get up until he thinks there’s an opening I’m very confident the effort against him isn’t gonna be as taxing as it was against two of the best defensive wrestlers in the heavier weight class like cmon bruh
Edit #2: which dc we talking bout because heavyweight 40 year old dc is obviously gonna have a worse wrestling gas tank unless your a Derrick Lewis but mid to somewhat early 30’s dc was still capable of wrestling in volume it just depends on the fighter against Gus he had a hard time with the distance and couldn’t even get in on Gus his last few attempts so he stopped because his wasn’t making any progress u think Pereira has elusive hips like Gus? We kno that’s a big fat no, also Dc had the gas tank to wrestle late with Jon jones I kno pride was a big factor in that and a lot of there fight was on the feet in the clinch but he still was able to try and wrestle late snd these are some of the best defensive wrestlers in upper weight class history bruh this nigga Pereira isn’t like that man he not
I disagree that Alex would even try to get back up rnds 1 and 2 if he gets taken down, and you can't deny DC wouldn't wrestle past round 3. He's gonna have to stand with Pereira at some point
@@cameronharper4554 I never said pereira would try to do it in rounds 1/2 I said in the rest of the comment Pereira looks for an opening to try and get up which could very well happen in the first, two round but I can absolutely argue that dc would wrestle past the first 3 rounds, name a fighter that doesn’t have elite tdd that dc stopped trying to takedown after two rounds cause last time I checked Pereira isn’t Stipe, Jones and Gus
The problem is that during Alex's fights against Izzy, his grappling looked absolutely abysmal. Izzy's grappling didn't look good either tbh lol

I disagree with this assessment when you say that DC wins 0 out of 10 times. DC is absolutely a bad matchup for Alex, not to say Pereira couldn’t tear his legs up and catch him coming in quite a few times, he most certainly could. But DC was never the type to just lunge for takedowns with reckless abandon, he would always find a way to clinch up the bigger, taller fighters and then once he was safe in the clinch he’d shoot for his takedowns. Not only that, sure DC wasn’t a submission ace on the ground, but he most definitely would ground and pound the shit out of Alex Pereira. I’m way more of an Alex fan than I ever was of DC and I’m telling you, your recency bias is blinding you to the reality of this matchup. Alex could have KO’d DC quite a few times in these hypothetical fights, but more often than not he faces a wrestler unlike anyone he’s seen before and gets dunked on his head and beat up on the bottom.
Pereria is even better in the clinch than DC and DC’s striking defense, specifically his boxing defense, is pretty bad. DC leaves his chin up and extends his arms out which is what Strickland did before Pereria sent him into a nap. Pereria has trained clinching for years in kickboxing and has lethal knees.
DC whiles the floor with Pereira. Period. End of story. And if DC wanted to beat Silva worse and finish him, he would have. He was going easy on him out of respect.
"Period" your @ss, casual, you ain't nobody with knowledge enough to express a valid opinion on it.

Hopefully he doesnt end up dying for our sins (fighting and losing at heavy weight).

Come on man, you know that the reason DC’s choke worked against Rumble when Jan’s didn’t against Alex is because it wasn’t as good, he’s in a different position with his weight leaning forward on rumble, and rumble doesn’t have an easy opportunity to use his right hand to pull down DC‘s right hand since he’s bearing weight on it. DC is leaning to the right for a reason.

Derrick also has no neck, so I expect it to be a struggle for anyone to get him out of there.
The only people that were able to force DC into a stand up fight are those with prior grappling experience (besides Volkan, but even he has some BJJ history) like Jones, Silva etc.
Like I said, Alex simply isn't good enough for this to be a fight dependent on technical skill; he will quite literally be eaten alive by DC"s wrestling lol. It is that simple.
on the ground, I feel like DC would be able to finish Alex and wouldn't need to keep up a good pace of takedowns for 5 round to win a decision. On the ground Alex's skills right now are not as good as Gustaffson in his fight with DC, so DC may only need 1 takedown maybe 2. and can find a submission or have more success with ground and pound than against Gustafson.
Alex has been gifted the most favorable matchups in the history of the UFC. Dude would lose to Bo Nickal.

I think if DC can finish Alex in the first few rounds then thats the best chance he has but if it goes farther than that DC might get slept

This Alex Pereira hype is the craziest shit I’ve ever seen in watching MMA for the past 20 years. This man has been taken down by the likes of Izzy, Jan, and Jiri all mid to below average grapplers. Shown a suspect chin in both Izzy fights. Gus and Rumble both have much better taken down defense than Alex. I see this fight going very similar to the Jones and Gane fight, stay on the feet for a bit then DC gets a takedown and mauls him into a finish.
Prime DC has a chin. He took shots from someone who debatable hits harder than Alex Periera. The Late Anthony Rumble Johnson. R.I.P. DC's mummy guard defense is the worst possible guard against the deadliest left hook in the sport, also couldn't deal with body shots
Thank you for lecturing casuals.
I think you're conclusions basically right but not your argument. DC's wrrestling cannot be compared to that of Jan or Jiri's, he's teirs above both of them in takedowns, managing position, and ground and pound. It's simpler than all this anyway. Jones is the compaison. But Pereira is basically Jones with better striking and much less grappling (and eye poking). Pereira's beats DC via left hook or (like Jones) left high kick most times. But I'd put the hypothetical win rate at 6 out of 10. Cormier would win mostly by 5 rounds on the ground and occasionaly by submission.
this what ive been SAYING
Only reason rumble lost is cause he tried wrestling DC!!! He rocked DC and definitely could have won. Alex ain’t dumb enough to wrestle

I see the points.
There are many things that could happen.
But for all you guys saying DC easily finishes Alex.
Guys
All DC has on the ground in ground and pound and a rear naked.
Both proved to be useless against Alex couse he is literally based around defending those things.
I'm sure DC could take him down if he is in range he can shoot and use the skills and strenght to get Alex down.
But then what?
He ain't subbing Alex he isn't a bjj guy really.
He also not gonna wrestle for 5 rounds to a decision couse by that point he is either gassed or KOd.
On the feet he is short, not athletic, slow.
His defence is just literally extend your hands and walk into range looking for overhooks or takedowns and dirty boxing.
With the mobility, range management, skill, IQ reaction time, power and speed Alex has on the feet, as well as the deadly weapons that can land any moment it's not unreal to see why Alex would win.
DC is open for kicks.
He literally said the same about his style by proxy when talking about Jones.
At long range he is fooked with the leg kicks and potential high kicks Alex like to throw these days.
Hell he can time a flying knee on DC for all we know, hell it doesn't have to be flying just a knee couse DC is 5'4 at least.
In close range he is already left hooked or kneed up.
And in between he can get cought by anything.
Also it's really hard to wrestle a striker who has 0 respect for your striking and he knows you only want to graplle.
It happened to Usman against Leon, Aljo against Sterling, Alex against everybody ect.
DC got nothing standing against Alex.
He got no kicks couse he is short and fat.
He got no punches couse 1 Alex has good chin and defence 2 he rolls with shots and keeps a good range, also DC usually swings over the top and stuff like that wtih that style.
We see Miocic landing left hooks to the body at will against DC becouse of it.
Alex can do the same then set up a left hook to.the head for example.
Só DC got nothing on Alex on the feet he won't pressure as much couse he knows he can get slept.
So he will be more messured, but by doing that he will stay at long range getting choped up, and at that range you can be the best wrestler ever, you won't be in range to use it.
And even if he gets thro all the takedown defence, the range the possible fight ending coutner shots from Alex and gets him down he can't sub him, can't TKO him, he will drag him a bit but then Alex gets up or the round end.
And after 2 more takedowns DC is gassed.
Alex's way to win is very easy, very open for him due to the lack of striking of DC with the attributes such as reach speed ect, and the skill.
DC's way to win is by graplling which is harder to do couse he won't win by sub or GNP and he will gass at some point.
60-40% Pereira
Charles moving lmao
Idk about DC, but if Rumble and Alex fought 10/10 times Rumble sleeps him. Death, Taxes, and Rumble by KO
bait
Dude DC beats Alex easy … 50-42 on the scorecards
