Thank you for taking your time to explain everything and making it VERY simple. You’re real and authentic..don’t pay ignorant ppl any mind. I’ve learned more from this one video than I did from any other video claiming to teach someone how to get started with this process. Continue to do what you do. You’re very appreciated.
Thank you so much for this video. Newbie to your channel. If you haven't already, can you do a video of startup cost/expenses, (operational costs), such as utilities, deposits, permits, equipment rentals, signage, insurance, supplies, etc.
Mason thank you for sharing your journey. I'm definitely interested in opening a store in metro Atlanta. Need to do more research and understand more before putting in the real work. I'm also fworking on business funding now. I'll email for all the info. Continued success.
Hi there and thank you so much for sharing! I'm currently in the research phase but hope to one day open a store in my area. I'm not sure if I will require financing so I'm interested to know all startup costs involved (lease, pos systems, printers, mailboxes, boxes, etc..) so that I'd have a rough projection to open doors. I will email you for this information. Thanks again.
You also may not need an industrial printer either based on the research I've done and talking with the owner of a ship and print store. They just have 2 printers from somewhere like best buy
I am going to rent an industrial printer to start and see how it goes. When I do a cost comparison of renting a nice one vs buying a couple normal office printers it’s pretty close. The rental is based on the amount of prints I do, so I can set my pricing and not have to worry about taking a loss on it at all. Will compare again once the store opens.
Hey I really appreciate this video, there’s not many like this. I’m thinking of opening a UPS store myself after being a UPS customer myself sending about 150-200 packages a day
I had a video discussing this but got in trouble with FedEx for showing percentages and rates. Sadly I cannot make another or disclose this info in detail. Label margins are another story, most stores are between 45-50% so a $10 label would be $5 profit for the store and $15 cost to the customer at 50% margins. Goes the same for any shipping type just depends on where you set your stores margins.
DON’T DO THE (U$$ S$$$$) The guidelines are ridiculous and if you don’t meet them they can take your store away from you. It’s best to do your own shipping store on your terms. I been working for that business for 5 years and been a manager for them for 1 year.
Nice thanks for the info I was looking into opening something slightly different it would really be just P.O. Boxes and us actually just holding peoples boxes for them no shipping !a lot of new apts where I’m at and that seems to be a good idea if you don’t want stuff left at your house especially at apt but I had a question did you have to do anything specific for P.O. Boxes?
Sounds awesome! There are a good amount of mailbox specific stores out there but they do great. You just have to make sure you fill out the USPS 1583A form and have it signed by your local postmaster to be able to accept mail for others.
So you're almost 1 year into this process. What % of mailboxes are occupied? How long did it take for you to get enough mailbox customers to cover the monthly rent?
Hello! I have a question, when getting your private ship store setup do I have to comply with the USPS requirements for the mailboxes and have approved USPS ones? Thank you in advance :)
Hello! No you don’t have to have USPS approved mailboxes. They are only required for places where USPS would be sorting the mail into each box, which they will not do at a retail store.
Ohh ok ok so they will leave the mail to you to sort out for your clients? and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REPLYING!!!! I am in the process of getting one setup here in Puerto Rico and I was reluctant to buy the mailboxes because I dont know where I read it's needed if you want for usps to deliver your clients mail/letters. @@theipasa23

Peace, appreciate the info! I'm in Michigan and in the process of getting a store as well. What are you charging to rent the mailbox? I was looking at those same ones too lol. I know it maybe different here but what's your Sq footage and rent price when it starts? I may also have some amazon info for you, I'm gonna check once I get home. Thanks
That’s awesome! I will probably do $20/mo for the mailboxes. I won’t have 24/7 access so don’t want to get to crazy with the pricing. Will offer some specials for opening day and what not. My store is 2400 sqft and the full rent price will be $3500/mo + utilities. Seems like a lot but I won’t really need to market because of the volume alone in the plaza. If I can get to like 300 occupied mailboxes to cover expenses on a monthly basis that would be really nice. I’ve heard from other store owners getting to 500+ isn’t very difficult. I heard Postal Mates may be setting something up with Amazon soon so hopefully that works out. If you have any other tips for them please let me know. Thanks for watching!
