I remember that when we got the estimated launch date for BF2042 BFV was in a rough spot and I added a calendar entry some time before the estimated date with a DO NOT PREORDER BF2042 title. That alert came and at the time I watched the BF2042 trailer and said WTF LETS PREORDER THIS! My previous pre-order was Cyberpunk 2077... not gonna pre-order anything else EVER again.

Another fun fact… After two years 2042 has the largest acreage of maps in any first person online shooter in history… But nobody cared about that or wanted it… This is why they only had this many maps… Takes time to make big maps… And this is where they messed up and this is why you didn’t get any additional maps

What do you mean? The last three games were all good for me. I don't think it's their problem that everyone wants to play small Maps with infantry only coming from COD or Fort Ape and have ADHD.

End of.the day they messed up badly with 2042, so badly the game was revamped heavily ever since release. Bf5 had a bigger player base than 2042 which sounds embarrassing. They had good ideas however they did it bad. The good idea they had was allowing you to play older bf games however it was poorly supported and very limited. They instead focused on specialists and costumes
After the shitshow of 2042, I couldn't care less if they fk the next game up or not. They've had their chances, EADice can go fk themselves for all I care, I'm no longer interested.
Remember the days when one single game development studio worked on a one single game? - now it's 4 to 8 studios working on the same game and doing "ongoing maintenance"... Hopefully DICEs squadron of studios know what they must do in the future if they want to keep Battlefield interesting and playable franchise.
Don't get your hope too high on this. In DICE and EA perspective, BF intellectual property is a tool to conquer game market's shares. Not just a game to sell to actual fans of the series. No CEO would be crazy enough to announce in shareholders annual assembly that their invested cash will serve to make more of the same old thing in order to satisfy a limited amount of future buyers (ie. the fans). The only way to totally delight the shareholders is to make the Holy Grail of game that ANY gamer would be attracted to buy. It could the BF game with the least BF experience of all, it doesn't matter. Sure they will lose your potential purchase and mine, but when they will rack cash from hundred of thousands of new customers, who will care losing some couple of thousand old ones?
A mess at launch, scant content updates (cosmetics are NOT content). Brought to a just about playable state then dropped. What a sad state of affairs from a studio that used to bring greatness.
I’m sad because this was my first “official” battlefield ( I played BF1 and 3 but on my brothers console) but I’m also happy their going all-or-nothing for the next game!
A trip back to BF5 could be an option, Ghost. Just released an anti-cheat. That game had a rebound like BF4, they just cut the support so quick. The gunplay in BF5 was some of the best I've ever played in a battlefield game.
I bought this game for 10 dollars a few weeks ago, and while i’ve enjoyed my time the game has a lot of issues. If after 7 seasons that is the final weapon list and map list, my question to dice would be what the hell have you been doing for 6 seasons? there is not 7 seasons worth of weapons, 7 seasons worth of maps, and not 7 seasons worth of operators.
Damn. I would of hoped for one big final season, but like this game, were ending off on an odd number. This is my first battlefield game, but I can’t wait for the next one and a return to a form i never experienced. i cant get into helldivers 2 timeless ive tried with you and jp and a few of the others but i find it boring dunno why just overly repetitive with no real character progression as in stats and so on to improve your characters personal strengths, i feel this was a missed option and could of created some interesting diverse players.

I am having an excellent time configuring my player & working with the squad on new starts / who carries what and how we work together. The game is actually surprisingly in-depth when playing on max difficulty. It's no BF for sure but something to do in these quiet times!

I'm sorry that we aren't getting a season 8, it was looking like they would complete the storyline that way. I started playing in season 4 and think the updates and support since then have been excellent
Based on the extremely limited "leaks" or rather... hearsay from sources like Tom Henderson, on the next Battlefield Game, it seems as though Multiplayer Wise, they're playing it extremely safe. All I have to say about that is... yes. Do that. Don't change things, just add a couple innovations, and for the rest, just play it super safe, BF3/BF4 style with Classes, no specialists, etc. and people will be happy. Give it enough Launch Content, make sure Seasons aren't SUPER lackluster like they were in 2042 for the most part, and that's literally it. For me, i'd say adding secondary objectives to Conquest (an idea originally mentioned by LevelCap I believe) would be a good innovation. Not necessary to capture, but they'd give your team a little boost, let's say capturing this Optional Objective area allows your team to spawn in with 2 extra magazines per life, that would be kinda neat. But keep it mostly classic and safe, with a couple innovations that ONLY add to the game, and not replace features that people actually want, with new ideas that people might not want.
I dont understand why no one talks about Battlefield 2 so maybe thats an idea for a future video or multiple even. Definitely my favourite childhood shooter!
Not sure how well multiplayer gameplay would translate to TH-cam but I'd definitely be down for some Battlefield retrospectives. Ghost could maybe check out BF2's helicopter handling. It's pretty tricky but I find it really satisfying.
Portal mode was such a great idea that was so poorly implemented. I'm so disappointed that we're not getting maps from other BF games but hopefully the next game launches in a way that doesn't have to be completely rebuilt to be functional like 2042 was.
Honestly I love 2042. It has its issues still but I’ve stuck with it since day one and had a blast. I’m sad to see it go but I’m very excited for the next game and I’m grateful for the devs that have given us much more content than was originally promised. Sad times, but also exciting for what the future holds

Sad news in my opinion. I was hoping we‘d see a S8, its just weird to stop at S7. However, they finally made this game good and I hope the next BF will be a great and finished game, a true BF with large maps, destruction, classes and vehicles. Let’s see. But remember guys, don’t pre-oder.
Dang, I just started playing it again (2042) after dropping off in season 3... Love the franchise, looking forward to the next installment. Maybe I should go back to playing BF4, hmm...
All in all I got my moneys worth from the game. I rarely invest my time in FPS games, but Battlefield is the only franchise that I enjoy as a layed back online shooter game. BF 2042 was the first BF game I bought since BF4, thinking it would go back to its roots and offer BF3 and BCBC2 style gameplay... I was never so wrong in my life. I'm curious to see the next project, but I don't have very high hopes.
I want the next battlefield game to be the melting of all the best features from previous games. This is a wishlist i want for Battlefield 7. 1) Class system along with more than 2 factions 2) Server Browser 3) A full fledge campaign, not lazy war stories 4) More destructible enviorments. i.e levolution 5) Behemoths, for example gunships, destroyers, cruisers, stealth bombers, attack drones 6) Commander mode but more fleshed out. Since DICE been adding AI, perhaps being a commander allows you to somehow control them and give them instructions. Of course it'll be in a separate mode apart from conquest and breakthrough. 7) Ability to swim underwater, leaning, crouch sprinting, lay on your back, climbing, 8) Gun bench but more fleshed out, ability to change reticles, stickers, and charms 9) Platoons and dog tags 10) Test range and shooting range 11) Fortifications 12) Vehicles spawn on maps 13) maps featuring land, air and sea combat
I am actually happy about them starting to shift their attention on the next game. I hope and believe that they have learned some things from how 2042 launched and have taken some pointers from the indie games that came out recently. I think this next battlefield will be way better.

I turned it on yesterday, did my usual map fishing (looking for one of the 3 decent ones in the game) and couldn’t find anything after about 10 minutes and asked myself “do I really want to play this? No. Not really” game is so boring and needed to be put out of its misery
also want to say even if the launch of the next game lands, the support we get may not be as great, like we get the best BF game to date but DICE/EA gave us 2042 level of support again.
Ending the life support for 2042 is good news, not bad or "bitter sweet". For me it gave me an actual reason to stop playing. Because I realized I was only playing to level up the pass so I could get my coins back. Now that I know I can't spent them on a new BP, I can peacefully stop grinding and uninstall the game.
so what do you guys want out of the next battlefield game? for me I'm hoping for 5 classes, 5 player squads, 35v35 or 40v40, add some of BFV's movement, add BFV's reinforcement system, maybe add fortifications back, gunplay idk but I don't like 2042 gunplay, lastly although I don't like the concept I think we should keep being able to choose whatever weapon you want.
I will be honest i would love most of BF5 systems in a modern game setting, like the ability to crouch sprint and this may sound controversial but would like if they brought back battle pick up.
@@REDtheBEAST i think battle pickups would be fine but what if they put it in a squad reinforcement system instead. obviously the amount of the battle pickups would be limited per team and would have a timer on them.
honestly its kinda sad. 2042 had alot to offer in terms of the story. there is a lot of unanswered questions in the lore. its also kinda sad that the roster of specialists was not expounded on.
Pre-ordered and paid for the 1-year pass when it came out. Ya, never again! I feel we are owed at least another 5 or 6 maps and maybe a few in portal. Can't help but feel cheated. Never again, Dice! Never again!!!
I just wish they would make a Battlefield game like BF3 and BF4. That's all I really want. Nothing fancy, no stupid shit, just a gritty military game thats somewhat realistic. No hardcore Mil-Sim, but just a game that you can easily pick up and still improve and master if you put the time into it. That's what Battlefield is for me. There is not really a game on the market that gives me the same feeling as Battlefield did, that's why it sucks that there hasn't been any good BF since BF1. I'm not hyped at all for the next game, I only wish Battlefield would be Battlefield again. But nontheless I'm looking forward to leaks and stuff just like when we were awaiting "BF6" :D
Bought the game on sale during season 4( which was included) and never spent a penny for the next seasons because all of the battlefield coins they gave out. I can definitely say I got my 350 hours worth out of the little I paid for the game. Hopefully Dice can pull the next title off this next go around!

BF veteran since BF2 here: I would have been happy with no more battlefield games, but instead make season after season of Battlefield 2042... Until the year 2043 i suppose.
Suggestions? Cover some of the older BF games, BF3 especially, while they still have servers. A lot of younger fans deserve to experience them to see what 2042 is really missing
I know they are updating Battlefield V instead. But in all seriousness I think the fact that we not have had a next BF announcement means it will be a long time till we see the new game. I think we could be looking at a 6 month minimum from announcement to release if not more.
I remembered when there was 2 years between BF games and now they have to put "all hands on deck" to finish a game that is set to realease in 1.5 years from now which has already been in development for 2 years. WTF is going on at DICE?

@GhostGaming, i am not sure how they say that they go all hands in on the next game can be considered a good thing. I could be remembering things wrong here, but i do think that they said the same about BFV and also when this game was in development and we all know how both games turned out at launch. The fact that they come with a claim like that is a major concern for me. I am not at all surprised that they are saying this is the end of the game....i was fully expecting them to do that much sooner than they have. It is however somewhat nice to hear that they will continue to do some minor works on it....but let's be honest, i think it will only be recycling events rather than bringing in new events. I fully agree with you on that people should not pre-order the next game.....pre-ordering is something i have never done for any game.

DICE - An actual love letter to the fans would have been as simple as this...a BF 3/4 remake and/or to simply port the "Best of Battlefield" maps into Portal. We The Fans don't ask for much but certainly more than what EA has been delivering as of late. I don't even think the fanbase would mind if we went back to the "Premium" system if that means better content ffs, but I digress...

To be _fair_ 6 new post launch maps in a 2 1/2 *year* full lifecycle plus a lazy remix of Arica Harbour assets and then splitting hourglass in half to make Stadium... AND charging people $70 + for this gaming turd when BF1 gave us 6 new maps in just _one_ DLC.. is a fking _joke._ 52+ weapons in 2042? *114* weapons in BF4 - _not_ including rocket launchers. Even BFV, when support was stopped _early,_ had *80* weapons .
@yootchoobe to be fair with battlefield 4 and v, they just used guns from previous titles and brought them over (battlefield 3 guns to 4,battlefield 1 guns to v). The issue with 2042 is coming up with the gun,making sure it's balanced and giving it a good name since the weapons are futuristic. We went from AS Val to BSV m,from scar h/l to sfar gl. They literally just left the MP 9 as MP 9.

Maybe it was for the best they let it go and move onto the newrr best they're making. This should be a lesson for them, to not make the same mistakes and learn from them. But who knows honestly whats going to happen to the next battlefield.
If there’s anything that the game can do to redeem itself, is to look back at the formulas of its predecessors formulas. Dice has no 2nd, 3rd, or 500th chance to do the bare minimum anymore and promote mediocrity. -Make the theme of the game dark and gritty like BF3 -Make the immersion cinematic and captivating like BF1 -Make the gameplay engaging and fun like BF4 except a little more updated Have movement mechanics and sound design work like BFV -And Make a team of story writers who can make a really good Campaign similar to rockstar, naughty dog, or Santa Monica studios. By all means is it easier said then done. Yet if DICE and the studios under their belts can just follow what made their previous games great could they finally find their footing. they’ll have a starting point in finally surprising the community and bring new audiences with amazing gameplay, strong immersion, and story telling. But I know it sounds more like a wet dream than it being a reality. We know majority of bf fans would want this regardless.
If this is the last season then they better give us the rest of the guns, gadgets, vehicles, and gun attachments from portal including the the guns that similar to aow like the scar17, as Val, m16a2, bc2 aek971 as well, before the they cancel support and fix the visual recoil because the m39 emr is so terrible currently
Anyone here remember the Vietnam poster of “Victory’s just around the Corner” with one word per president. Battlefield is starting to feel like that. I really hope “back to basics” isn’t just lip service. BF4 MK2 please. Sell me all the skins you want but give me that.
This definitely makes me sad, I understand completely I was just really hoping we'd get more for 2042. It may still be the worst BF game ever (besides hardline) but they really turned it around and I thoroughly enjoy myself just about every time I hop on. Can't wait for the next game though, here's to hoping we don't repeat the same mistakes for the 4 or 5th time in a row

Try battlefield 1 and 4 for sure. Also V without cheaters is nice but plays way different to others, you die fast and it is hard to spot enemies
I’m just hoping they give us the AN94 and a few other portal weapons as a parting gift in AOW like they did in BF4.

Just remember EA released only 1 stable battlefield game in the last 11 YEARS and that was BF1, so the chances for next one are not looking good.
I'm sorry that we aren't getting a season 8, it was looking like they would complete the storyline that way. I started playing in season 4 and think the updates and support since then have been excellent
Based on the extremely limited "leaks" or rather... hearsay from sources like Tom Henderson, on the next Battlefield Game, it seems as though Multiplayer Wise, they're playing it extremely safe. All I have to say about that is... yes. Do that. Don't change things, just add a couple innovations, and for the rest, just play it super safe, BF3/BF4 style with Classes, no specialists, etc. and people will be happy. Give it enough Launch Content, make sure Seasons aren't SUPER lackluster like they were in 2042 for the most part, and that's literally it. For me, i'd say adding secondary objectives to Conquest (an idea originally mentioned by LevelCap I believe) would be a good innovation. Not necessary to capture, but they'd give your team a little boost, let's say capturing this Optional Objective area allows your team to spawn in with 2 extra magazines per life, that would be kinda neat. But keep it mostly classic and safe, with a couple innovations that ONLY add to the game, and not replace features that people actually want, with new ideas that people might not want.
I dont understand why no one talks about Battlefield 2 so maybe thats an idea for a future video or multiple even. Definitely my favourite childhood shooter!
Not sure how well multiplayer gameplay would translate to TH-cam but I'd definitely be down for some Battlefield retrospectives. Ghost could maybe check out BF2's helicopter handling. It's pretty tricky but I find it really satisfying.

Portal mode was such a great idea that was so poorly implemented. I'm so disappointed that we're not getting maps from other BF games but hopefully the next game launches in a way that doesn't have to be completely rebuilt to be functional like 2042 was.
Honestly I love 2042. It has its issues still but I’ve stuck with it since day one and had a blast. I’m sad to see it go but I’m very excited for the next game and I’m grateful for the devs that have given us much more content than was originally promised.

Sad news in my opinion. I was hoping we‘d see a S8, its just weird to stop at S7. However, they finally made this game good and I hope the next BF will be a great and finished game, a true BF with large maps, destruction, classes and vehicles. Let’s see. But remember guys, don’t pre-oder.
Dang, I just started playing it again (2042) after dropping off in season 3... Love the franchise, looking forward to the next installment. Maybe I should go back to playing BF4, hmm...
All in all I got my moneys worth from the game. I rarely invest my time in FPS games, but Battlefield is the only franchise that I enjoy as a layed back online shooter game.
BF 2042 was the first BF game I bought since BF4, thinking it would go back to its roots and offer BF3 and BCBC2 style gameplay... I was never so wrong in my life. I'm curious to see the next project, but I don't have very high hopes.
I want the next battlefield game to be the melting of all the best features from previous games. This is a wishlist i want for Battlefield 7.
1) Class system along with more than 2 factions
2) Server Browser
3) A full fledge campaign, not lazy war stories
4) More destructible enviorments. i.e levolution
5) Behemoths, for example gunships, destroyers, cruisers, stealth bombers, attack drones
6) Commander mode but more fleshed out. Since DICE been adding AI, perhaps being a commander allows you to somehow control them and give them instructions. Of course it'll be in a separate mode apart from conquest and breakthrough.
7) Ability to swim underwater, leaning, crouch sprinting, lay on your back, climbing,
8) Gun bench but more fleshed out, ability to change reticles, stickers, and charms
9) Platoons and dog tags
10) Test range and shooting range
11) Fortifications
12) Vehicles spawn on maps
13) maps featuring land, air and sea combat

I am actually happy about them starting to shift their attention on the next game. I hope and believe that they have learned some things from how 2042 launched and have taken some pointers from the indie games that came out recently. I think this next battlefield will be way better.
I went back to Division 2 after the last 2042 update. I forgot how good looking the game is for a 5+ year game.
To be honest, more studios isn’t the solution. More vision and sticking to everything what’s already good is! Don’t preorder is a big thing but as soon as the first trailer drops we all know what the majority of the audience is going to do right! Just that. Preorder

I turned it on yesterday, did my usual map fishing (looking for one of the 3 decent ones in the game) and couldn’t find anything after about 10 minutes and asked myself “do I really want to play this? No. Not really” game is so boring and needed to be put out of its misery
also want to say even if the launch of the next game lands, the support we get may not be as great, like we get the best BF game to date but DICE/EA gave us 2042 level of support again.
Ending the life support for 2042 is good news, not bad or "bitter sweet".
For me it gave me an actual reason to stop playing. Because I realized I was only playing to level up the pass so I could get my coins back. Now that I know I can't spent them on a new BP, I can peacefully stop grinding and uninstall the game.

so what do you guys want out of the next battlefield game? for me I'm hoping for 5 classes, 5 player squads, 35v35 or 40v40, add some of BFV's movement, add BFV's reinforcement system, maybe add fortifications back, gunplay idk but I don't like 2042 gunplay, lastly although I don't like the concept I think we should keep being able to choose whatever weapon you want.
I will be honest i would love most of BF5 systems in a modern game setting, like the ability to crouch sprint and this may sound controversial but would like if they brought back battle pick up.
@@REDtheBEAST i think battle pickups would be fine but what if they put it in a squad reinforcement system instead. obviously the amount of the battle pickups would be limited per team and would have a timer on them.

honestly its kinda sad. 2042 had alot to offer in terms of the story. there is a lot of unanswered questions in the lore. its also kinda sad that the roster of specialists was not expounded on.

I just wish they would make a Battlefield game like BF3 and BF4. That's all I really want. Nothing fancy, no stupid shit, just a gritty military game thats somewhat realistic. No hardcore Mil-Sim, but just a game that you can easily pick up and still improve and master if you put the time into it. That's what Battlefield is for me. There is not really a game on the market that gives me the same feeling as Battlefield did, that's why it sucks that there hasn't been any good BF since BF1. I'm not hyped at all for the next game, I only wish Battlefield would be Battlefield again. But nontheless I'm looking forward to leaks and stuff just like when we were awaiting "BF6" :D
Bought the game on sale during season 4( which was included) and never spent a penny for the next seasons because all of the battlefield coins they gave out. I can definitely say I got my 350 hours worth out of the little I paid for the game. Hopefully Dice can pull the next title off this next go around!

BF veteran since BF2 here: I would have been happy with no more battlefield games, but instead make season after season of Battlefield 2042... Until the year 2043 i suppose.
Suggestions? Cover some of the older BF games, BF3 especially, while they still have servers. A lot of younger fans deserve to experience them to see what 2042 is really missing

I know they are updating Battlefield V instead. But in all seriousness I think the fact that we not have had a next BF announcement means it will be a long time till we see the new game. I think we could be looking at a 6 month minimum from announcement to release if not more.
I remembered when there was 2 years between BF games and now they have to put "all hands on deck" to finish a game that is set to realease in 1.5 years from now which has already been in development for 2 years. WTF is going on at DICE?

@GhostGaming, i am not sure how they say that they go all hands in on the next game can be considered a good thing. I could be remembering things wrong here, but i do think that they said the same about BFV and also when this game was in development and we all know how both games turned out at launch. The fact that they come with a claim like that is a major concern for me. I am not at all surprised that they are saying this is the end of the game....i was fully expecting them to do that much sooner than they have. It is however somewhat nice to hear that they will continue to do some minor works on it....but let's be honest, i think it will only be recycling events rather than bringing in new events. I fully agree with you on that people should not pre-order the next game.....pre-ordering is something i have never done for any game.
They should revert back recoil, so everyone can enjoy as they are stopping service.

DICE - An actual love letter to the fans would have been as simple as this...a BF 3/4 remake and/or to simply port the "Best of Battlefield" maps into Portal. We The Fans don't ask for much but certainly more than what EA has been delivering as of late.
I don't even think the fanbase would mind if we went back to the "Premium" system if that means better content ffs, but I digress...

Although i do kinda wish they would add laser sight & red dot attachments to the M1911, MP 412 REX, M93R & MP 443 in a future background update.

*114* weapons in BF4 - _not_ including rocket launchers.
Even BFV, when support was stopped _early,_ had *80* weapons .
@yootchoobe to be fair with battlefield 4 and v, they just used guns from previous titles and brought them over (battlefield 3 guns to 4,battlefield 1 guns to v). The issue with 2042 is coming up with the gun,making sure it's balanced and giving it a good name since the weapons are futuristic. We went from AS Val to BSV m,from scar h/l to sfar gl. They literally just left the MP 9 as MP 9.
@@dc3747 eh? A lot of the '2042' guns are just carry overs that appeared in earlier games and were simply renamed probably to avoid licensing and copyright issues.. bottom line is there is waaay less in 2042 than in earlier games, that's just a fact.

If there’s anything that the game can do to redeem itself, is to look back at the formulas of its predecessors formulas. Dice has no 2nd, 3rd, or 500th chance to do the bare minimum anymore and promote mediocrity.
-Make the theme of the game dark and gritty like BF3
-Make the immersion cinematic and captivating like BF1
-Make the gameplay engaging and fun like BF4 except a little more updated
Have movement mechanics and sound design work like BFV
-And Make a team of story writers who can make a really good Campaign similar to rockstar, naughty dog, or Santa Monica studios.
By all means is it easier said then done. Yet if DICE and the studios under their belts can just follow what made their previous games great could they finally find their footing. they’ll have a starting point in finally surprising the community and bring new audiences with amazing gameplay, strong immersion, and story telling.
But I know it sounds more like a wet dream than it being a reality. We know majority of bf fans would want this regardless.
If this is the last season then they better give us the rest of the guns, gadgets, vehicles, and gun attachments from portal including the the guns that similar to aow like the scar17, as Val, m16a2, bc2 aek971 as well, before the they cancel support and fix the visual recoil because the m39 emr is so terrible currently

This definitely makes me sad, I understand completely I was just really hoping we'd get more for 2042. It may still be the worst BF game ever (besides hardline) but they really turned it around and I thoroughly enjoy myself just about every time I hop on. Can't wait for the next game though, here's to hoping we don't repeat the same mistakes for the 4 or 5th time in a row
