I find it really interesting that this song’s lyrics seem to paint Papyrus.exe in a much more tragic and genuine light, as opposed to the pure evil parody he’s usually depicted as. The lyrics ‘I can’t erase these scars’ makes it sound like Papyrus has been deeply hurt by something, beyond the point of repair. As if he’s found out about some horrible truth that he can never forget. And I know this animation is fan made, but I consider it so well made it made me see this song in a new perspective: the detail of him switching between different AU Papyruses in a certain animation. It seems like Papyrus has become aware of the multiverse and all of the countless other versions of him out there. Timelines where he’s been subjected to horrific fates, ones where he’s been killed in cold blood by none other than his own brother. Seeing into infinity has broken Papyrus, it was something he was never meant to see. That’s why I like to imagine he sings the lines ‘How bizarre… I bid you au-reviour! Because he never wanted this to happen. He never could have envisioned ANY of this happening. Papyrus having this knowledge was never meant to happen, and now he must take it all out on Sans, the one who has always been there to read him bedtime stories, to keep him company when he felt alone, and to support him every step of the way. He can now see every lie Sans has ever hidden from him, and now, in his madness, Papyrus has to kill the person he loved the most.
