- Melissa and I went and gathered some firewood this evening. We used the RK 37, Granite Grapple, RK by King Kutter Dump Trailer, and The Polaris 900 Crew. My wife is a worker!

It's nice having a wife that gets out and helps with the firewood gathering. Enjoyable quality time together. My wife and I do the same. Good execise too. 🙂

Working together outside is 10 times better than any marriage counseling. Also, food always tastes better when you work up a good appetite. Good job people!
WOW! Melissa, take it from an old man, very few women can make a pair of jeans look that good plus being able to know how to pack wood in a trailer. Big pieces to the bottom and smaller on top. Still hotter than a two dollar pistol. The subs should start going up.

Forrest aerobics beat a crowded gym any day. You could use the tote tanks as compost tea brewers set in a raised cradle for drip irrigation and get your money back keeping the aluminum shell for multiple wood deliveries. An Air bag trailer would make using a pallet jack a snap and loading equipment low to the ground. Take out 6 to 10 totes for delivery and pick up empties on the delivery route from the prior weeks delivery. Super channel. Save some burlap bags get a air pump with lines and air stones. Also resell the tanks for wild fire protection powered by a generator as a backup when power goes off. They would be great rain catchment water bill savers for city water bill reduction. You've got the touch it once after splitting plan down pat. One day your daughter will be able to run the delivery/pickup system. Save the hardwood logs especially those you bring to the yard like that beauty. Add anchor seal and let the pile build to justify the Lucas Mill. You could trade the kiln dried wood for saw rental and let the saw owner sell your wood bank to his hardwood clients prepaying for your own mill.
I see how she stays slim and trim and why those jeans fits so well. At the start of the video she loaded the first row and then re stacked it. I help a lady lay a slab walk way in her yard one time. we put it down then before we was done we had handled all the rock slabs about four time as she kept changing her mind on how she wanted to lay the walk way. I lived and worked on a farm in Tennessee for 18 years until I joined the military and roamed all over the world for 20 years.
when I retired Ii moved to the Gulf coast in mississippi; worked in a shipyard for 27.5 years and retired again. I love the out doors and like to walk in the woods, but not much of that any more as the legs don't like the long walks any more. thanks for a very good video bring back memories of my days on the farm in the winter when we would cut wood). Always great to have a great helper! Great teamwork makes an enjoyable time in the woods. My parents are 80 and they both go out in the woods together to gather firewood they still enjoy it after all these years. God bless. Enjoy your videos.

Took us back a lot of years watching you two gathering firewood. We had many many family outings cutting loading and splitting firewood . It was good to see Melissa made it up the stairs to do the most loading of the firewood ;-) she sure did good and handled the log handling tool like a pro. Thanks for sharing with us all. Sure glad you enjoy working with Mike, you are a trooper Melissa. Reminds me of my wife.

I love watching you guys work together. it brings back a lot of great memories when my wife and I worked together in the woods of southern Michigan cutting firewood. Melissa is awesome; she is beautiful, has a gorgeous smile and is a really hard worker. You are trully blessed to have such a wonderful wife.

You go girl I do the same thing! I Cut it down and load it and then split it myself. My other half helps me sometimes but he had a heart attack 3 years ago so now I am the boss! HaHa! He is a great watcher! He stopped telling me how to do it when I asked him when he was going to start helping me again. Now he helps me as he is doing great. I put him on a diet and he lost 60 lbs and his doctor said he is fit as a fiddle now. I told him that he dose not have to help me as I love the work out. LOL He still helps now. We Heat with wood and burn about 8 cord a year. I am 62 years old and still feel like I am 35. he is 67 and told me he feels like he is 67 LOL

Looks like you need some sides on the trailer so you can carry more wood. I also noticed that there was plenty of room in the back seat of the Ranger for more wood but Mike quit when the cargo area was full, Melissa kept going on the trailer ;)
When your wife asks you to take her to dinner, in those jeans...that fire wood can wait.

Great video! You should build up the sides on the dump trailer to add more capacity! That tandem axle will handle the load!

Hi Melissa
If you want Mike to take you out to dinner more often, give him a tip. Ask him to count how many times your firewood is lifted before it is in the crate and in the firewood range. Too many?
Think about like this: For every extra small movement of one piece in the stack, means doing the same to the whole stack. You do not need any extra steps. Look at the long stacks of wood. Would anyone like to move them one extra time?
You have all the gear, all trees and logs are close to the trail.
Why not park the trailer and the ranger, bring the splitter and the crate to the logs? Cut logs at site, split them and fill the crate at site. Directly from the splitter.
Carry it back with the RK. Then each piece of firewood is lifted by hand only once.
Save the muscles for the gym, let the tractors do the work.

The grapple jack is a good idea but way to heavy. I have a 12”hand grapple that weighs about 1pound. Made by Husqvarna. I handle a lot of wood and never leave home without it. Melissa needs to be in more videos

We heated with wood years ago got burned out. Last house we built has a fireplace with a blower but we seldom use watching this reminds me why I stopped heating with wood. But you guys enjoy it so it is time well spent.

now, in the name of 'saving your back', i think you should use the grapple to load your firewood. Granted it won't be neat and may involve a few more trips, but at least your backs will be saved. and if you split right out of the trailer a little more heavy lifting will be avoided.

Alright i have to post this, at the 6 min mark, i think Melissa realized loading wood isn't all its stacked up to be, lol. But, i'll give her credit, she hung right in there. Great work ethics no doubt about it. This is what this nation needs more men and women, husbands and wives working together. Appreciating each other for what they sacrifice in being the bread winner or the home maker. Great job to the both of you!!!!!!!

Just a thought... leave the polaris at home and take the RK55 with pallet forks and a tote instead. Load the small stuff that wont need split in the tote and you won't have to touch it again. Enjoy all the videos, keep 'em coming.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT !! Melissa is CERTAINLY a hard worker !! The way she loaded all that firewood into that little red dump trailer was proof of what an energetic assistant can and will do !! I'm impressed with her willingness and ability to do what's needed to get the job done !! As a retired Facilities and Operations Manager I would hire her in a heartbeat !! She's definitely a "keeper" Mike !!
