Hi there, looking at Royal Navy roles currently, just wondering do PTI do for example in a combat situation, would they have another specialisation etc? Any information would be much appreciated
In my time they worked on the bridge in various roles including steering the ship. As with all trades, when the ship is closed up at action stations secondary roles take priority such as fire party (firefighters), first aiders, damage control party etc etc ... So yes the PTI's have secondary roles onboard.
Not as much shouting as I'd imagined, I pictured RN PTIs as the same as those of the army, I (hopefully) will be joining Raleigh in the coming year so looking forward to it 😁

However in imf sessions before this you are not allowed to scratch your face or fidget in any way. (Unless you have to cough and you cover your mouth however go straight back to standard at attention afterwards) If you do not do the correct amount of reps the whole class will be given more reps to do. If the class as a while is not at the correct standard for a normal session you will be given more reps to do as well as potential a camp sprint So imf passout is broken down into different stages Warm up (this will vary depending on pti) 4 corners Corner 1 - 5 pressups to instructors time - 5 pressups as fast as you can - 5 pressups to instructors time Corner 2 - 5 burpees to instructors time - 5 burpees as fast as you can - 5 burpees to instructors time Corner 3 - 5 squats to instructors time - 5 squats as fast as you can - 5 squats to instructors time Corner 4 - 5 hip thrusts to instructors time - 5 hip thrusts as fast as you can - 5 hip thrusts to instructors time On the completion of the last hip thrusts you go straight into double marking time on your spot. Weak as p!ss compared to what we had to do when I joined in the mid 80’s. Can’t see anyone making fast on a rope. Their rope work is sloppy and the assault course has been tamed down a lot. It’s a worry that this is all they have to do to make it these days. Shabby
we prefer now to ensure they are fit to fight, not just needlessly beast them for no reason. we didn't do this in the 00s just gott run ragged, but i can confirm this is a decent test of character instead of just the ole press ups sit ups and go run round a field.
I managed to climb and makes fast, there was remedial rope climbing classes if couldn't do it. I was crap at vaulting though, I hated that vaulting horse. I was there in 85.

Yeah in the Royal Navy women are given the same treatment and expected to do the same as the men. They have separate dorms though.
