don't listen to anyone's negativity. our bodies = our choice with everything. nobody--NOBODY--has the right to tell people what to do with their bodies in any way.
body sovereignty. if people would learn to back off other people's body and lifestyle choices, we'd all be a hell of a lot happier.
it never fails to mystify me. our society is SO selfish and self-involved, yet we still can't stop telling other people how to live. things that make ya go hmmmm.

Idk about everyone else , but I love when caucasians make their way into the dreadlock nation. Something unique about their thinking. It's like some of us blacks wish we had straight hair at times. Idk this video was just cool & different. She's incredibly open minded for someone who has fine hair.
Glad to see this instead of the typical "cUltUrE vUltUrE" etc comments. It's like 90% of people don't realise dread can naturally form in *any* hair type in race if in brushed for long enough and left to freeform
Hey I'm a Caucasian guy who has been wanting dread locs since I was in my late teens. I am now 33 years old and I have just recently started my dread loc journey, seeings how I have been growing my hair from when it was completely shaved until now for the past 4 years. I can honestly say this is probably the most dedicated I have ever been to or towards one particular thing. I have asked and begged and offered all sorts of payments in exchange of someone sitting me down and starting dreads in my head. Well after 2 or 3 years of no luck I have finally decided to just do it myself. Sooooo........ It's been a real real slow go but I'm dedicated 💯 percent all the way always have been so I do what I can as I can when I can. I haven't even finished all my locs yet, the ones in the back are ugly as crap bc it's just a group of straight hair sectioned off and wrapped at the end with a rubber band. But the ones in the front look so so good to me. (Lol) they just make me feel satisfied and happy. I just simply can't wait until all of my hair is in dread locs. And you know what?????? No matter how many black or white folks that has criticized me for wanting to do this....... It don't matter!!!!
I'm not doing for any body I'm doing it for someone. That someone is ME....
Thanks for having interest with white folks that have the desire to join the dread nation.
💯% COMMITTED...
Yes I know so many whites with locs who had it for 25 years or so, it’s a spiritual thing
You cant just say black people want straight hair dreadlocs was originally a thing for african americans i just dont think drads look as kneat on Caucasians

EidStoneyMaloney . 420K I actually weakens the bonds in your hair making it easily breakable
People who want dreads usually don’t mind the chance of some damage to their hair. It will be in a dreadlock, doesn’t matter.
I knowww I have curly hair and I’m cringing so hard watching this
EidStoneyMaloney . 420K i seen a couple people take their dreads out and theri hair got so much thinner
I just started working on my first dread, thanks to you. I’ve watched many videos for a long time now but yours is the first that 1) gave me hope I could actually achieve the look I want but also and more importantly 2) that I can do it myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Like straightening them, dry them out with hot air, brushing them, dye them are healthy things to do with your own hair.
Like... you can cut them out and let your hair grow up again... what's the problem?
Atlania ED. Most people brush them out, so your hair will be damaged after.

Dreads in straight hair looks looks vastly different from in curly or coils. I would say I prefer coils
I have locs and started with coils, and in my opinion, they lock and look better.
@You Mad? Why do you say?
@You Mad? I'm asking why you don't think anything looks good on blk hair?
@You Mad? Some white people don't either. I'm not trying to change your mind, I'm just curious.
Coils looks so good and a lot less damaging tho. Idk if I'm correct bc I have never tried it but I love seeing 3c's hair styling
I'm loving the intimacy of a husband doing his wife's hair ❤
...and only us pervs watching lol
Intimacy means physical, spiritual, or emotional closeness, not perversion. Like truly talking about your deepest desires is something quite vulnerable and intimate that most people avoid because of the vulnerability and discomfort associated with having your truest self open to judgement

@@JTS_P Right back at you: Huh?

@@MrSocko-bh1jb Wdym it’s just us pervs watching?
Her hair is supposed to look like that. That’s literally the point of locs.. to purposely tangle and matt up your hair..a dread loc can’t grow to be a dread loc without doing what’s he’s doing to her hair especially because it’s so straight..but of course someone who doesn’t know about or let alone have locs would never understand. 🙂
So I have a question ... What does a white person when the roots come in? I mean.. he's saying it'll juat keep going up and mature on its own...but I've seen whites with half a lock full of hair thay naturally grows from the head and other half if still locked
None Ya well once dreads are started you’re training your hair to grow into a certain shape and form. Eventually the hair will get used to growing in a cylindrical shape and naturally grow that way, but because a Caucasian person’s hair is so smooth, it will take persuading to help the roots keep up. Like crocheting and interlocking. But some people just like the way straight roots look I guess 🤷🏽♀️
@@SoftHeartRevelation thanks for the quick response! Much appreciated. Yeah...I'm not into the root look. Basically id just want a few and I'd want them neat.
Meraki.
We just think it shouldn’t be on a girl like her. She too good for dreads
@@rawdawg8850 too good for dreads? What does that even mean?
It's funny how people think only certain hair types can be dreaded. If shampoo, conditioner and combs were never invented we'd all have dreads.
Chubby Nugget not true but whatever helps you sleep at nite ig 🙄
Right, it's just basically controlled matted hair
It is true. All human hair locs if the hair isn't separated. If I don't separate my hair at least once a week my hair will start to loc up on its own and I'm mostly white. And no, its not "matted". It twists onto itself and locs up.
No, white people hair would be oily, stringy and hanging. Matted at the most. Afro hair would lock up because the curls would begin to intertwine with each other and “lock” to each other. Which are dreads.
Surnamehere wrong. All human hair locs.
Your wife is beautiful bro

Your wife is incredibly stunning. Her smile would make you melt. Great video. I've been struggling so much to find exactly what I needed to be taught. Thanks dude. I'm getting started at 2.07 am in England.
Dreadlocks are a huge commitment and a lifestyle. And it's such a beautiful hair evolution. Coming from a dreadhead.
How are they a commitment? I just tried making three in my hair. This method works very well. But I've never had dreads before. I'd like to know more about the commitment before I make more dreads or decide to keep the ones I just made.
@@dfadden62 They require very different maintainance from loose hair. In many ways they're much lower maintainance but there is an adjustment in the way you wash your hair and you DO have to wash despite the myth that says otherwise. Also it is very difficult (not impossible but difficult) to take them out of your hair without chopping all of your hair off. The process of un-loc-ing your hair involves stuff you have to get special ordered and several long hours of running that stuff through each loc while pulling them apart inch by inch. I hope this helps but I also hope it doesn't frighten you out of getting locs. They can be very rewarding and even if you are not getting them for religious reasions, spiritually fulfilling. :-)
Please tell me, I am talented with my own hair, I believe I can do this to myself. Is this a good method and is it easy to keep them up if you're consistent with them
@@dfadden62 because you usually keep dreadlocks in for years, not just a few days and then comb it out
madison channel y’all white folks try to take every black person thing
We would all have dreads if the comb and etc.. was never created. I agree dreadlocks is for everyone, every race but the look does not look good on everybody. All hair can lock, but not all hair types look good being locked. Just Keeping it 100 but as long as that individual likes the look and it makes them happy. To each there own

I REALLY appreaciate this tutorial! Once my hair gets to 10" this will be my 6th and final attempt at dreadlocking my straight, frustrating hair. Wish me luck. U rock!
6 attempts Jesus. Just back comb and palm roll. Just keep palm rolling everyday and afyer like 3-4 months you won’t even need to do that anymore. Not a short process so don’t think it is
It takes a long time for locks to mature into actual locks at first there gonna look crazy and have fly aways and stray hair but you gotta work it and stay with it. If you’ve tried 6 times already you don’t seem very committed. You have to commit or don’t try at all.

If I see another white person say Viking this or that I will scream cuz obviously y'all haven't learn yalls history. The fact that y'all can't tell matted hair from black peoples locs is crazy. We coil our hair. Then it locs up. Simple. None of this damaging stuff. And African history is longer then westerns so what😭. We all literally originated in Africa 💀
We all did originate from Africa yes, but what those people are trying to say is how the hairstyle isn't just solely associated with black culture, and is associated with many more like Celtic and Nordic, which are just as valid
@@holanino6594 but they aren't locs they are matted together hair call it something else not locs like how we have cornrows they have Dutch braids simple.
@@fluffcremedreams1855 I'm no hair expert but here in Ireland (although uncommon) we have things called Celtic locs, and they look a lot more similar to your regular locs unlike these
@@holanino6594 a lot similar but not the same. The process is hardly the same. The results are not the same. The health of the hair is not the same. Locs are better attempted with 3b hair texture. People don't realize that ofc European history were written down and recorded first. Unlike Africa who wasn't as advance. But they started it. They had to, figure out ways to deal with their hair as it is 5x harder to deal with then straighter hair.
Say it for the back
right now my hair is too short for dreads. but once it gets longer I'm gonna get dreads!!! and I'm gonna do it myself with what i learned in this vid. thanks for the education.
My hair is long enough but I'm bad at doing this so Ima wait till it's a better length and it's easier. Or I could get my mum to feed my hair but I don't think she would because she doesn't like dreads that arent natural free forms

But, white people had dreads too. The Scandinavians, Barbarians, the Hebrews, and many others, black people had dreads too. Why can't all peoples have dreads? Why must people limit everything? Like, us coloured people of all people should know that if we say other races can't have this nor that, we are no different than what the white people did to segregate us all those decades ago. Did our brothers and sisters die just for us people to complain and say others can't have this or that?

Yes dreads what about it
@@vcodyy6693 "Locs" is the name..I guess they can use the name "Dreads" because it definitely looks "dreadful" on them..lol

Funny how dreads per say can be done in SO MANY ways, definitely different outcomes no doubt!!!
For some reason the sped-up palm rolling was kinda satisfying
I made it to the end. you guys are awesome. I was doing my own dreads while watching you guys. I got two down in the course of the video. I'm pretty excited to see the finished product. Thank you guys for inspiring me!
also to everybody leaving the hate comments... nobody asked you, if you don't like dreadlocks, then go somewhere else. it's rude to make comments as such on a channel specifically designed for the things you're hating on. You are entitled to an opinion, but there's no need to hate. Hate comments make everybody feel uncomfortable, and it literally does not make anything better
Yes let’s make our hair look like the grinch fingers 😍😍

I have wanted dreads/braids since I was 5. I’m white and just love this hairstyle. My idol growing up was Floella Benjamin on kids tv, playschool, I adored her and her hair, hence my love for locks ❤️
How to destroy your hair and get a dirty look
EXACTLY, it doesnt even look cool, all it makes you look like is like a hippie or a homeless person(that is my opinion on how dreadlocks look)
I love the look of dreadlocks this is probably a racist comment in my opinion
Stfu
Watermelon Girls she’s not being racist dreads look dirty and ugly on white people/straight hair people and they look normal on kinky hair
Don’t agree, I’ve seen white ppl with dreads and they look so good and so pretty
“And then *rip it*, *RIP IT TO THE ROOT*”
Sounds extremely damaging
As are most hair treatments, but really, this is like getting any knots in your hair, just doing it a very specific way
So is dying your hair, excessive brushing, tight braids and poby tails etc. Almost anything will damage your hair. If it's in a dread it doesn't matter regardless.
So is getting a retwist so tight to your scalp
Hair is dead anyways. Doesn’t matter.
@@lveriss it's only dead when it's not attached to your scalp anymore.. dreads are very much alive
Time to make my family proud 🤭 can’t wait to see all of there reactions
Question, how does one wash their hair with partial dreads? Thanks!
Should've done teasing then use the crochet needle. I can hear each strand screaming of mercy 😭😂. Ripping each other apart.
Brotha, Putin it on for light skinned interracial couples ✊🏽. Love this!
And thats how you make a birds nest and tumbleweed. 😁
😂😂
so all the people complaining about cultural appropriation look up "can white people have dreadlocks" on here, theres a channel by a guy called kris mcdred who covers this is a clear straight forward way, peace yall
Not to mention dreadlocks can be traced to 6 places on the globe one of which is the nordic countries which was almost entirely white people so, you can't really appropriate something that your culture also started.
Its alot of hate on this one, let that white girl have dreads. If she loves the culture.. great we need more like her, an less of the ones that call us thugs, kill us, or falsely accuse us of rape.. do ya thang white girl.. much love
I’ve always liked the look of dreadlocks, but had no idea they’d be so easy to have. (I’m a white guy, with thick wavy hair.)
Nowadays I’d be worried the backlash for perceived appropriation, but I’d also be concerned about maintaining them. Are they easy to wash? Does the hair grow in straight or do the dreadlocks “keep?”
And what do you say to charges of cultural appropriation?
Dreads arent a race thing man. Celts. Had them since 7th century. Jesus had dreads. It's a human thing man.
@@Moweesdaddy Jesus had dreads? Maybe, but for all we know about the guy, Jesus may have been totally bald.
@@marauder08901 he was a black or middle eastern Jew. That's pretty obvious. He wasn't white. And the style at that time was not to comb the hair. As most couldn't afford such luxury.
For the African American community that seemingly claims them, even there it's not widespread it appears in subsects smaller sects of society. The earliest mention of dreads is in the Hindu scriptures so whatever floats your boat. Also the Celts had em and so did the aztecs. Not a race thing as the guy above said though everything these days is made about it.
@@ayushro4 I noticed my typo. Whoops my bad. I agree with you. I have locs myself.

guys dreadlocks aren't black culture
Irish had it, the Indians have it infact shiva an indian god wears dreadlocks, the native Americans have it ,the Mongolians and even many indigenous tribes all around the world have it in their culture.
I mean be informed atleast
Stop trying to justify cultural appropriation. It’s black culture. Lol.
@@444.kierstxn dreadlocks is the culture of Indian people and there are soo many old sages and Shiva followers who haven't met even one black person in their entire life and wear dreads.
