Flying Saucer (1950)

Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
L/S of a flat 'flying saucer' zooming through the air . The saucer lands on the ground - not very impressive. We are told that 14-year-old Jeremy Coles made 'The Flying Plate' himself.
Jeremy and another boy refuel the 'plate', adjust it and start it up by turning the propellor. The craft starts off, controlled by Jeremy who directs it with two long wires, like a kite, as it flies around in circles.

Impressive. I would love to make something like that. My Grandfather made model planes with his father, I have one hanging from the ceiling in my bedroom.

14 year old. And black budgets and black projects that have infinite amount of money can't do something like that on a huge scale?! And this was 71 years ago!
