I love the relationship everyone has in this family. Always so kind and respectful everyone is to each other. Not only that but I love how your family is doing a book advent calender instead of the traditional ones with candy, toys or whatever they do these days. It's so nice that the books and ornaments are something the whole family can enjoy instead of being full up on candy or little toys

I was raised in a dysfunctional family and try my hardest to do better with my own kids. It really helps me to see practical examples of how to do that; phrases you use to respond to little situations with the kiddos. I agree about the big books! It’s definitely a bit overwhelming to have one mega book instead of little ones. Also means (in our house) that only one person can read the series at a time. I have all my Deltora books from when I was a kid but I’m missing 1 from the second series. I can’t find it as an individual anywhere and I really don’t want to buy the whole set as one book when we already have them 😢
Love that you can walk to the shop! What bike path is that? I rode my bike across Australia in 2018 from Melbourne to Perth (first I spent 3 1/2 weeks on Tassie). I rode a bike path from just outside of Mandurah to Perth alongside the Kwinana Freeway that looked just like that. It was awesome!

Which happened at a completely different time of year, but the church that violently forced pagans to convert hijacked Yule and called it the birth of Christ. The vast majority of the things we associate with Christmas (decorating trees and whatnot) were stolen from Yule. Just like most of what we do at Easter. Doesn’t actually correspond with when a crucifixion or resurrection would have been and all the bunnies and eggs and such are associate with the goddess Eostre. An unsolicited social media comment about religion when you don’t know what other people believe is just spam, not to mention disrespectful. We’d still have most of the parts of the holidays people actually enjoy without Christianity.
