    This run changed music for me forever. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve played these three throughout the years since. I thought it would be audio-only from then on. I’m so delighted to be wrong. Massive thank you for uploading and letting me re-live one of my most special memories/experiences.

    It's just another Sunday, and I've got this cherished 3-night supernova bit of perfection for the ages on again in my living room. I close my eyes and just dream about the last 60 years. Just about done with my 60's and all I'll have left is memories of the 60's and my very own 60's, with now just a few more days to go. Love you for giving me this to keep if ever top of mind and heart for me! Thank you!

    Long time GD fan- 1st show in 73- lots of GD shows, many LOMs, JGB shows, Kingfish , Keith and Donna, Further, and almost all configurations of Phil and Phriends- a couple of Phish shows- and TAB- and lots of Kimock ...... but this.........this is amazing!! I've watched these so many times and have turned on many friends. This band is perfect. Many great Phil configurations- but IMO this is the best combo. just outstanding post- Dead toones. A shame that it didn't happen more- or better yet- AGAIN. I guess the SK/ Jill thing never let up. Too bad because Phil and SK are magic- and adding Page and Trey just iced the cake. Love Molo too. These are great to have as full shows . Thanks for posting- I'm certain I'll watch them many more times. Possibly best post-Dead band.....

      @@docwill184 The story as I read it was that during that P&F tour, Jill Lesh (as the tour manager, maybe?) was pushing for (or outright made) changes to the band's compensation, to pay them less. Somehow it came to a head with Steve in particular and apparently one morning he just grabbed his gear and peaced out.

    One of, if not the best, three night runs EVER. Each night had its own personality and vibe. So stoked to see the video again--I have seen hundreds and hundreds of concerts (108 Grateful Dead and 124 PHiSH as of today) and these shows combined my two favorite bands and mixed them up just perfectly. I mean in the second set of this show: Terrapin Station>Down with Disease>Dark Star>Friend of the Devil is just insane to me today as it was 21 and a half years ago jamming in the balcony (I felt I had to always be on the floor at JGB shows and loved being up in the balcony during these shows.) Thanks for sharing this video!

      I have to agree - best shows EVER. Personally, having Steve and Trey on stage TOGETHER playing GD and Phish, with Phil laying down his powerful bass, this was just heaven for me. A lot of work went into getting these 3 shows together as one continuous video, and SO GLAD I did it.

    Loved these 3 shows on disc for years, and it's incredible to finally see the footage of them. Besides being what I (and many) consider to be the best post-GD shows ever, what I particularly enjoy is being able to see who (Steve or Trey) are playing certain leads. They are my two favorite guitarists alive, and they are certainly distinct, but in the middle of jams, it gets difficult to tell who is doing what. Glorious, and thanks for posting.

    • @anthonycollin6535
      @anthonycollin6535 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      These are the best post-GD shows! I have listened to this for over 20 years now and they hold up. Everyone is playing their best here, everyone is trying to be respectful of the music. Though after listening to these shows for 20 years I have to say that Kimock is the star here. Trey and page are wonderful but Kimock knows the songs better and plays all the details into the songs with a new soul. Case in point: The first part of dark star where Kimock is politely leading the band through a maze of fast tempo psychedelic goo with a sitar that I have never seen him play since. Old songs, new life breathed into them. And yes, Donna was a welcome addition.

    • @MikeP2055
      @MikeP2055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@anthonycollin6535 "Politely leading the band through a maze of fast tempo psychedelic goo . . ." That is really well put! While I'm not nearly as well versed in Kimock, my immediate reaction is to totally agree; absolutely no disrespect to Trey, Page, or anyone else. The delicacy with which he (Kimock) plays is so beautiful! I'd love to learn more about that sitar, as my knowledge of sitars is limited to the large tubular-shaped string instruments of . . . I want to say Indian origin? From the moment I saw that uniquely shaped "guitar" I've been a bit stumped. (Then he switches to what appears to be a Fender, right?) Any insight you might have would be appreciated.
      Anyhow, I apologize for my rambling. I'm just stoked on music today. ✌

    God these shows never disappoint when I revisit them. My music taste is ever expanding and I'm constantly discovering incredible music - lately I've been diving into bill laswells world of music and a lot of spiritual jazz (Alice and John Coltrane, pharaoh Sanders, sun ra ) - but these 3 nights are like the pinnacle of improvisational music.
    Kimock has never played better and is the mvp of this warfield run without a doubt. I don't think he had any idea what trey could bring to the table and just became intensely inspired and plays in such a natural and comfortable way because hes totally able to let loose and explore.
    I mean look at his face while he shreds apart dark star, dude is in the zone and then some. The way him and trey instantly connect is a thing of beauty, there intertwining guitars is perfect for phil to bounce around in and explore. And with molo driving full force into keeping that perfect backbeat and pages swirling keys- it's the perfect blend of music without ego.
    Theres no limits to kimocks playing here , unreal stuff

    I've listened to this show dozens if not hundreds of times over the years but just now hearing how lost Trey is during "It's Up To You" (a Kimock tune). He doesn't appear to know the core melody, or even realize it's composed. He's just noodling over the top of Steve and stepping on him despite it being a pretty simple arrangement. Page is unshakable as always, and Trey could just lay back and play chord changes? IDK, am I crazy? Listen and watch that tune and let me know what you guys think.

      It has the tone and response of a sitar in a guitar format, sounds super cool, you can hear the way the note rings and the sustain decays it’s a specially made sitar-guitar. I’m not sure who it’s made by but I sure as hell want one
