She is amazingly talented. Bought her book. I tried almost every exercise over a period of about 3 months - probably working on them about 20 to 30 hours a week - sadly, nothing worked nearly as well as I wanted it to -except the really easy (circles and a couple other early exercises in the book - she then jumps to some others to try which are just so interesting and I so wanted to be able to do them - they all failed - but at least I tried all but one!! I went back to easier versions of negative painting and I think unless you are trained or maybe your mind just has to see differently than mine does, you need to just start really small - I like how she showed tracing in this interview - that would help a lot and it's not mentioned in her book. I agree to get a good result - you have to think, and plan, and you have to practice A LOT or get professional training. It's really more like doing a puzzle and also - lifting back paints for me never seems to produce the result I see in her work - even if I copy hers, it just does not look as clean -- even with non staining colors. I think if I worked at this for years and got training, I could do it and learn my own way to do it - and I plan to keep at it because it is addicting - even though so far, I am not making anything as "good" as my other watercolor paintings. Wish I could see her work in person for days on end!!! Thanks Linda - just love the way you create - it's so interesting!! Amazingly talented and her work is very unique. She carved out a niche and it's just spectacular to those of us who love watercolor painting.
beautiful work.....very inspiring! i work my abstracts the opposite way to you. i go in super loose and random then tighten it up to finish. im certainly going to try things your way and i hope i getter better results. thanks for the videos

A interesting substrate is Lana Vanguard, polypropylene. You really start to slip and slide.
