Let me tell you, your parents have raised at least two wonderful children (I really don't know your other siblings). There are parents out there thinking, "How can I get my son [or daughter] to meet Sister [or Seth]." You are true jewels. God bless Sister, your parents, and you. We need more young people like you.
Excellent assortment of making hay tasks! I'm always surprised that more people don't use bale hooks: it makes a big difference and saves the back when working 1000 bales in a day.
That sound of the square bailer slamming out the bales...............brings back some memories. Many a summer I spent helping the neighboring farmers putting in their hay crops. Made enough money doing it to buy my own school clothes as well as my first car too!
Your very much a natural at farming and mechanics. Always good to see a notification of a new video. Have been I'll in recent days. Last year spent 91 days in the hospital. Fear I am going back for awhile. Well be sending a gift soon Seth. You make my days bright even not feeling my best. Russell in Houston,Texas
A lot of the farmers in my area bale their alfalfa a little on the green side and add a preservative during bailing. There is nothing like the smell of cracking open a nice fresh bale. Great video thanks!
Another outstanding video of life on the farm. Enjoyed it. FYI, the editing of your video is at a professional level. We look forward to your next video.
We used to stack like that with a New Holland 268 until when I was in 8th grade we upgraded to a New Holland 276 with a thrower. We thought we were big time.LOL
What's that little red shed used for in the background when you're blowing the baler off ? Is that your sister baling square bales with your brother ? Its awesome to see women who want to farm or who are engaged in farming doing hardwork like baling, milking cows, driving truck or tractor. When you were pushing or injecting a round bale you could tell that the bale wasn't packed hard as it had a squishy center that you very seldom see in a JD baler or bales.
Hey, Seth - Curious... When I was a kid living on a farm, we cut hay using a sickle bar cutter off to the side of the tractor. Now you are using a rotary type cutter but it seems that it is not much wider than the old sickle bars . Are there larger mowing machines - larger meaning wider so you can cut a wider swath with each pass? Dam that square baler is NOISY!!!.
Great vlog. One of my favorites. Please explain why the hay will be bad it gets rained on if its in rows and why it stays good if it gets rained on if its in a bail? I learn a lot from your channel. Thanks!
Wow me and my siblings did that A LOT . Then toss into the barn. We never had a conveyor to get it into the barn. I think 12 kids means.....no need for a conveyor?
I spent many years teaching people how to make premium quality alfalfa and the two most important things when to cut and when to cut. First when is when the regrowth us no more than an inch tall and the second when to cut is between 10 am and 3 on. Before ten the due is still on and after 3 there isn't enough time for it to dry before the night dew cones in again. This will cause you to have to wait an extra day for it to dry. Your hay did not dry because you mowed too late in the day FYI
Had a 69 Chevrolet 3/4ton truck .could haul 66bales at time Had a portable they lift that hooked to the side of the truck. H Sax done person to help me with the hay . Made a lot of money that way on the side . We would haul small fields that noeone else would touch . We would have the field hauled while they were thinking about . We did all of the stacking where people w as noted it stacked . We had one customer that baught inasmuch as 3,000 bales a year from us . He wouldn't let anyone else haul it to his place . We would stack it ad tight as we could . When we stacked it ,he wouldn't loose not one bale to the rain . Not even the outside bales . We stacked where you could count the bales in each layer know what was left in the stack
Even Sister has farm muscles. Great video
Great job seth

When is the Q & A video being produced?
Must be a smooth field to be cutting at 10 mph. None of those fields in NW Mo
We have a Hesston Baler just like that
Wow me and my siblings did that A LOT . Then toss into the barn. We never had a conveyor to get it into the barn. I think 12 kids means.....no need for a conveyor?

You do realize that working that hay multiple times will knock all the leaves off where the protein is
That rotary rake wasn’t doing it any favors . Wheel rake while the dew is still on . 😉
