Great video, learning a lot, forgive basic question please - are the batteries for this boat lipo ‘shorty’ or normal length? I’d like to get my son this boat and need to get the right batteries…
You can run short or longer packs there's alot of room in the battery tray for cg and big packs. Like the 9500 cnhl it's a huge battery fits like a glove
Hey B. I'm having issues with my RC Veles with 120C batteries 9000MAH. I know the Dynamite ESC has 720A burst current and these 9000MAH 120,C go way over that and my ESC cuts out. Anything 5200MAH 80 or 100C is ok as long as batteries discharge or burst is less than 720A on these Proboat 120A ESC. I learned the hard way and had already bought the batteries before I found this out. You can only use high C rated batteries if you using a 180A ESC with 1080A burst current but preferably people need to upgrade to ZTW if using big C rated and high AH batteries. Now I'm trying to find a 9000 or 10000mah which are less than 80C that would fit into my Veles and not go over the burst limitations of the ESC and I want these bigger batteries for longer run times. 2S x 2S. Is it possible to get some 10000MAH for 70C rating. 70C X 10A = 700A burst or discharge current. Also Proboat recommend 50C batteries for the Veles. I need to find long but slimmer 2S high MAH batteries.
The Battery's are to heavy, what's happening is the excess weight is creating more amp draw from the esc and its shutting down.. run the smaller lighter weight packs should be good to go. Sorry for the delayed response.... BG4L

Nice video Big B i need more help understanding watts and amps for the lipo batteries how to figure out how many amps I am drawing would be nice if there was more information but on a side note I ordered me a Rico racing class one skater yesterday going do build it as a twin electric so excited 😁
@@IRONCLADRC Watts are a unit of power. Roughly 750 Watts equals one horsepower. Watts are defined as Volts times Amps. Motor constants are not part of the equation. If a 100% efficient motor was turning a given propeller and drawing 75 Amps at 10 Volts, that motor would be putting out one horsepower at the shaft to turn that prop. A 100% efficient motor motor drawing 10 Amps at 75 Volts would also be putting out one horsepower at the shaft although a different propeller would most likely be necessary to achieve those exact numbers. Sorry Noob question:do boat brands matter with battery brands or can you put any boat battery in any boat?,on a budget but i just got the Stealthwake an wanna go faster then what stock is.
From brand to brand matters, as for your stealth wake you need to figure out if the esc is capable of handling lipo battery, there's more than likely a pin that needs to be moved from nimh to lipo, find out the maximum voltage the esc will Handel more than likely 7.4v which is 2s. 3200 50c 2s 7.4v would be perfect for that boat
I'm looking for feedback here... but I think the stock V2 prop is just a touch too small. Needs more push power. I find that it struggles to come up on plane or stay on top of the water in tight turns. If you are "spinning your wheels" so to speak, but not going anywhere, doesn't that translate to wasted energy? Bigger prop with more surface area to pop out of the hole faster is more short term strain on the electronics , but at least the boat isn't "wallowing" struggling to come up on the water? I'm more asking than telling here. 🤔 As you mention in this video your run time is better with the 4519 prop over the stock prop. Always awesome videos B.
I have 2 6800 gensace bashing series v2 120c and just ordered 2 x 8000mah 100c gensace bashing batteries do you think the latter will give me considerable longer runtime , im thinking weight. Etc but i have not run either sets as of yet.
You should get longer running time, with the extra weight from the higher mah packs consider going up on the trim tabs, the extra weight will help hold the boat down at speed ( shouldnt take much)
Hey Ironclad. I asked you a Q about my new Veles boat. This time I have a Q for my Atomic boat. What batteries do you recommend me for long running times for a Volantex Atomic SR85 Catamaran. It's running a 1750KV and the ESC is upgraded from stock 80A to a 120A one. I've been running a 4S 4200mah 30C and the battery is only lasting like 3-4mins. I'm not even running it half or full throttle. Please help. And are 80C batteries good enough what ever the mah ?
I got a question about charging I have some 2s batteries that seem not to be charging they r 5% I have a prophet sport mini charger it won't go to any other color besides red and green I have xt90 connectors how do u clean them
The balance lead from the battery could be dirty/corroded. Use a stiff wire, stick in each balance lead hole on battery one at a time! Move the wire around in each balance lead hole knocking the dirt & corrosion off
To me it was over discharged, a lipo battery will last longer if you don't fully discharge it to 3.2, I like to discharge mine to around 3.6-3.7 overall longer life span
Shout out Big B, after owning z donicwake only for two weeks and having problems the retailer sent me a new receiver and the erratic running a low speed continued, so i eas asked to return the boat for testing. Today they made me a call because even with the video i sent to then they did not see what was the problem, but they asked what batteries i was using and after saying that were gens ace 3s 5000 mha 60c they said that was the culprit of the situation. They are new batteries and they have no problem. The problem is at low throtle i would much appreciated if you could give me your oppinion.
@@IRONCLADRC No Big B is not cavitation it seems that after a pass at a decent speed when cornering you let down the throtle and then when you give throtle again it hesitates giving some pulses until get on plane. Sorry but if i send the video is not a good quality video and its Portuguese you maybe will not understand what me and my son we are saying, but let me ask you a question. Yes sir run time, low end take off & top end is better tlwith the 4519 oxidean. Or a 642 octura
I have 2 6800 gensace bashing series v2 120c and just ordered 2 x 8000mah 100c gensace bashing batteries do you think the latter will give me considerable longer runtime , im thinking weight. Etc but i have not run either sets as of yet.
You should get longer running time, with the extra weight from the higher mah packs consider going up on the trim tabs, the extra weight will help hold the boat down at speed ( shouldnt take much)
Thanks buddy love the videos watching all the way from the u.k keep em coming @IRONCLADRC
Does a bashing 11,000Mah 4S battery too much for this? I have two of them
It's on the heavy side yes
I really like and learn from Your vids . Thanks for what You do . ? Is 120C ok in the 5 to 6 000 packs ok stock boat .
Yes 120c should be fine. I've run max amps 120c 6s in the v2 with out issue
Check the measurements on these batteries, there inexpensive & has great run time

@@IRONCLADRC Thanks.
I got a question about charging
I have some 2s batteries that seem not to be charging they r 5%
I have a prophet sport mini charger it won't go to any other color besides red and green I have xt90 connectors how do u clean them
The balance lead from the battery could be dirty/corroded. Use a stiff wire, stick in each balance lead hole on battery one at a time! Move the wire around in each balance lead hole knocking the dirt & corrosion off
ok thank u for info
Big b what is your favorite battery at this point in time? 💪🏼 boat gang
Smc racing! SRD for speed, HCL-HP for speed & runtime, HCL-HC for runtime
@@IRONCLADRC I love smc myself! What mah ratings are you referring to
@@stevenmartin8764 I like the 150c for best bang for buck
You said over discharged battery even though it technically it wasn't. Some people may think it was. Terminology can confuse a lot of new people.
To me it was over discharged, a lipo battery will last longer if you don't fully discharge it to 3.2, I like to discharge mine to around 3.6-3.7 overall longer life span
Does your EC5 loop connector spark when you plug it in ?
It will every once in a while, if it does don't worry to much..
@@IRONCLADRC ok thanks
Shout out Big B, after owning z donicwake only for two weeks and having problems the retailer sent me a new receiver and the erratic running a low speed continued, so i eas asked to return the boat for testing. Today they made me a call because even with the video i sent to then they did not see what was the problem, but they asked what batteries i was using and after saying that were gens ace 3s 5000 mha 60c they said that was the culprit of the situation. They are new batteries and they have no problem. The problem is at low throtle i would much appreciated if you could give me your oppinion.
cavitation could be the issue? can you send a video of the issue? Ironcladedout@gmail.com
@@IRONCLADRC No Big B is not cavitation it seems that after a pass at a decent speed when cornering you let down the throtle and then when you give throtle again it hesitates giving some pulses until get on plane. The esc has that cap pack that prevents riple voltages... but i asked the retailer to try another esc, it maybe the cause.
Sorry but if i send the video is not a good quality video and its Portuguese you maybe will not understand what me and my son we are saying, but let me ask you a question. If you will drop the 5000 mha 50c in the v2 the boat would run normaly without hesitations only it would nit have the same performance... right.?
With out seeing the issue first hand it's hard to pinpoint the problems..
I have a sonicwake v2 on the way it should be here this week, maybe I can help once I get my boat on the water
@@IRONCLADRC Ok if you could help me on that matter brother because i am not a profitional what i know is from seing your videos and other you tubers and i like the sonicwake v2 a lot but right now i need a man of the business oppinion. The retailer said to me that the v2 does not run well because my batteries are 50c discharge... what a nonsense.THESE 3S 5000 MHA 50C WILL GET HOTTER THEY CAN PUFF WITH USE THE BOAT WILL NOT HAVE ITS MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE ,but in the end the boat must run smooth and without any kind of hesitations specially, specially at low speed. Your experience is my guidance on this matter, please tell i am wrong!
Wich boat do you rekomend for just playing around?
Recoil 2 has been a fun boat
Awesome comparison but you should include max amps batteries
MaxAmps 5450 120c TERRIBLE, just Terrible, the only boat I use them in is the 6s Recoil2, Any other heavy, high performance boat of mine just puffs the battery like a bag of popcorn.
@@IRONCLADRC so it's true that they are just average overpriced batteries, not any better than decent spectrum batteries for example
Would 2x 3s 9000mah 100c be to much weight in this boat???
I doubt it only o e way to find out.
I'm running 2x 3s 9700mah 120c, runs great and very long, like 10+ mins
@@gMcizzLeFilms no problem fitting those 2 big batteries inside the boat?
@@JuanSQuiP nope no issues. I also have 2x CNHL 9700MAH 3s batteries, fit perfectly
Is there any alert or alarm for when the battery gets low?
I actually just got some smc precision lipo alarm kits, video coming soon.

How does the ESC run vs the Stock one?
Much better
What batteries will get the most run time
Look for batteries with higher MAH ratings. IMO single 6s pack is best for longer run times. SMC HCL-HP 7600 150C 6s is a good choice
how much a 6s china hobby weigh
About 900grams
COFFIE TIME B
My supersonic V2 is stock out of the box just wanna change the stock prop
I've been recommending the oxidean marine 4519 or octura 642. Both great props
okay ?
So I can run a 5000 50c?
Yep
Ok that will help til I get more batteries.
You need a t shirt that says your chant😊

my 6s 6600 cnhl outruns my dads spectrum v2 5000 v2 easily and I run harder. Spectrum def not worth the money. The 6200 3s twins cnhl race packs last even longer.
Wish I could of run the spektrum packs in this video I had just discharged them in the ul-19. I like the spektrum batteries I actually got my all time pb i1mph with the veles 29 spektrum 5000 100c twins. I'm a out to pull the trigger on those cnhl 6600's. Those batteries are bad to the bone
@@IRONCLADRC for $115 the twi. 6600 racing cnhl packs are great. Switching to larger connectors because ec5s cant hang!
5minutes is like nothing😐 That's not much fun for the Money to be honest.Does 2x3S 9000mah works in this boat?
well, that depends on how hard you pull the trigger. But I'd also like to know whats the biggest battery combination, for 2 battery packs, you could fit inside the boat. Space looks tight.
