    Thanks for mentioning us, where we unfortunately always we've been left out.
    A good fact about the Mandaeans is that we are the last of the Sumerians. Our language is close to Akkadian and Aramaic, our faith is the earlier Gnosticism belief, and the Mandaeans are considered the last living Gnostics.

      The vast majority of (if not all) historians acknowledge that she was born to an Arab family. Her sister's name was Maysa! Her father was an Arab high priest of Elagabal (Elah El Gabal), and they worshipped a black stone. Domna/Dimna means "black" in Arabic.

      You are just wrong. The problem is you and the person whose comment i replied to have no idea what you're talking about. You read articles online without understanding the context of the information. If you had cared to do any sort of research into this topic, you would know that the Sumerians weren't Semites. But thats just the problem, you get your information from stupid documentaries and articles instead of looking at the actual academic material.
      Semites first arrived in Mesopotamia at around 3000BC when Eastern Semites migrated to Mesopotamia and founded the Kish Civilization who later on became the Akkadians and even later, Babylonians and Assyrians. These groups had no relation to the Sumerians prior to this. Semetic people are part of the Afro-Asiatic peoples whose original heartland is thought to have been somewhere around Southern Egypt or Ethiopia.
      And modern iraqi arabs came even much later than that. You Arabs don't have any right to claim the prior civilizations of Mesopotamia and their contributions to humanity any more than anyone else. The only people who can make that claim would be Assyrians and Chaldeans of whom you have no relation to.
      Also, the claim that Said Ahdarf just made is complete BS. I can tell that he misread an article that was published a while back about the genetic connection between the early pre-indo-european population of western europe and the ancient anatolian populations.
      He and other ignorant Arabs think that because parts of Mesopotamia are currently in Turkey, that somehow means the pre-indo-european inhabitants of europe are somehow connected to them, forgetting that they are neither Anatolian or even have any remote connection to even the original Mesopotamians let alone Anatolia.
      There is just no point in making completely bogus claims to boost your nationalistic ego or whatever, saying things like this will just make you look stupid.

    Great video Mark! One thing I would have liked for you to mention was about the Jewish, Assyrian, Chaldean and Syriac demographic in Iraq. This demographic was a significant part of Iraq’s population up until recent times. Jews occupied Iraq since the fifth century BC up until around the 1950’s. Christians (Assyrians, Chaldean and Syrians) also we’re a significant part of Iraq but began to flee the country during the US invasion in 2003.

    • @user-xm8zp8us4g
      @user-xm8zp8us4g 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sarah Asaad Syriacs are not “Just Aramaic”. We all come from Northern Mesopotamia and definitely not the Levant. Ancient Arameans came from the Levant and the Assyrian empire adopted the Aramaic language (mixing it with Akkadian words). Syriac is a linguistic and religious term. Syriac Orthodox Christians are Assyrians and Chaldeans are Assyrians from the Chaldean Catholic Church. Chaldean Catholics are not related to the Chaldeans of Babylon. These are all labels to differentiate between different churches. Syriac Orthodox Assyrians speak Western Assyrian dialect/Turoyo. We all call ourselves Suraye/Suryoye (Chaldean Catholics and Syriac Orthodox) which literally means Assyrian.
