I miss working, my car, my identity, and my independence. I have been hating the wheelchair and everything that I feel I lost. I needed to hear your reading. Thank you! Card 1: A year ago I survived a terrible stroke at the age of 59. I was paralyzed on my right side and lost my ability to walk, and type, and I am relearning to communicate again. I type with one hand and I have trouble texting on my phone and speaking my thoughts and spelling correctly without breaking into tears. I lost my job and was lucky to have disability insurance. I miss working, my car, my identity, and my independence. I have been hating the wheelchair and everything that I feel I lost. I needed to hear your reading. There is so much more to me than that career and what I was to others than what could do for them. Then depression and apathy set in. I have been having such a hard time allowing myself to find joy in my life. Being embarrassed, and leaving my house has not happened because I'm afraid of being an imposition or too much responsibility for others, not looking like me because of the facial deformities and not being able to put my hair up by myself....excuses, all. You reminded me I'm still me inside and my light still shines.
