Knowledge and ignorance is misunderstood in this answer. “ when we have knowledge we can make a wonderful life for ourself”. This answer is good for a child understanding. Knowledge means freedom from ignorance not philosophy or mental understanding. Once from com from ignorance. Ie freedom from bondage as an egoistic identity then we see we have self realization of knowledge. This is life in freedom. One’s sense of self is no longer a small self but a universal SELF
We are born in a certain culture. Religion. Conditioning country etc. all these forces create a mind set and affect all our decisions. We think we have free will but all these forces cause our decisions so it’s hardly free. Act as if you have free will knowing you don’t. As long as there is a sense of individual identity there will be a sense of free wil. Once that ego sense disappears then their is no free will. One is played by the divine as Krishna plays his flute.
- Sanskrit is mother of all languages - BG : This world is reflection of another reality, spiritual reality - What is Mind - mind can be the best friend and worst enemy, it make hell out of heaven and heaven out of hell, mind can drive us crazy, in one scripture says, mind is like a drunk monkey, beaten by scorpion and hunted by ghost (Yadava tadava bhavishyati - who can understand what such a monkey do next) - This conversation will cover about Moksha (liberation), Mana(mind), Dharma (purpose), Karma(action) - We each of us interact with five worlds. 1. World around us, we can see. People, places, continents, rivers, mountains 2. World that you choose - where to stay, with whom to stay, lifestyle 3. World inside you - there is a saying - smiling faces and crying heart 4. World that you can change - did you know you have more power to make some change in this world. One philosopher said, no man or no woman is a social island. When we are in this world, we always affect other people, other environment 5. World that you creating for the future - These all five world are equally important but world that we need to focus on most out of all of these five world is the world that we choose because we choose it for ourself. It will affect the world inside of you and according to the world inside of you, you will then become empowered in trying to change the world that you wanna change. According to how you make a contribution, that will then affect on your future world - According to BG, what Krishna is basically equipping you to creat a beautiful life yourself. Because based on the world we choose live in, every other world will be created outside - In BG Krishna broadly five things which make up a beautiful life. If we incorporate these 5 things within our life then we will creat a beautiful a beautiful world that we choose to live in and then all other worlds will become beautified because of that - BG 4.38 - न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते तत्स्वयं योगसंसिद्धः कालेनात्मनि विन्दति - Translation - In this world, there is nothing so sublime and pure as transcendental knowledge. Such knowledge is the mature fruit of all mysticism. And one who has become accomplished in the practice of devotional service enjoys this knowledge within himself in due course of time. - Purport by His Devine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanata Shrila Prabhupada - When we speak of transcendental knowledge, we do so in terms of spiritual understanding. As such, there is nothing so sublime and pure as transcendental knowledge. Ignorance is the cause of our bondage, and knowledge is the cause of our liberation. This knowledge is the mature fruit of devotional service, and when one is situated in transcendental knowledge, he need not search for peace elsewhere, for he enjoys peace within himself. In other words, this knowledge and peace culminate in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. That is the last word in the Bhagavad-gītā. - First creat wonderful life for yourself - which is guided by knowledge - then inner world will become very very peaceful, not only that but one can become empowered to achieve their goal - There are five `C’s for beautiful life - Character, company, culture, contribute and connection - First thing Krishna says if you Wanna leave beautiful character is more important - So many people have to do list but not to be - Golden line - People will not remember you for what you did but they will remember you for who you are - As monk when we enter in to monetary. One of our monk teachers used to do this type of guided meditation and ask us to visualise your own funeral and visualise who has come, what is the mood, where is it, can you identify the faces and further in this guided meditation they said now you have to visualise the person who comes to the front to give the eulogy the speech of your life. And then you have to try in your mind’s eye to imagine what would you want that person to say about you ? 1. The quality I appreciated in them most was …….. 2. The way made an impact to the world was by ….. 3. The greatest achievement in life was ……. - and then we finish this meditation, open our eyes and ask our self what did I do in the last month to become this person. Then we realised that we’re so much focused on activities that we forgot it was small about character. It was all about the deeper substance the content of our own personality that ultimately we want people remember us for. - Important line - BG gives various qualities and the qualities of the most spiritually evolve people in the creation and this qualities are given to remind us. If you embrace to such qualities, your life will always move in the right direction - First thing Krishna says to develop a beautiful character and think about character - Second thing Krishna talked about beautiful culture. He outlines a model of lifestyle as three mode of nature; goodness, passion and ignorance just like three primary colour red, blue and yellow - The food that you eat can be in mode of goodness. Ex. If it’s healthy, fresh, full of nutrients then it’s in the mode of goodness. While food which is unhealthy, stale, agitate, imbalance nutrition this is passion and ignorance. - One can even drive in this three mode. If you drive and fall asleep that is mode of ignorance. If you drive and you break all the traffic rules, cut people up and go into fits of road rage that will be driving in passion - Krishna explains about third important things is company. Whoever who decide to bring in our proximity, clearly their qualities will run off on us so Krishna explains what are the kinds of friends to look for in this world. - Then Krishna talks about contribute: we earn a living by what we get but we earn a life by what we give to others - In BG Krishna talks about how to live selfless life - Most people are only thinking about to me society means to think about only me - But when we help other to solve their problems, your problem will be solved - When you try to spread wisdom, you will become even wiser automatically - We are not just passive observer of others but we are we have the opportunity to make a great contribution - A German writer says treat a person as he is and he will remain as he is but treat him as he can and should be and he will become what he can and what he should be - Krishna says fifth and final thing that beautiful connection. This perhaps bottom line of BG. Writer C.S Lewis said if I find within myself a desire which no experience of this world can fullfill then I must conclude that I was made for different world. Krishna explains in BG that mission part is Yoga, to connect with God. - Moksha is live in this world but not affected by this world - Our purity is our immunity - Why mind becalmed agitated - because our character and traits are wrong. Because we have unhealthy lifestyle. Because we are surround by wrong people. Because we are so self Conscious - About Dharna - BG says each of one us have Dharma as a soul, as a body. a part of beautiful contribution is understanding what is my Dharna. - How do we find out how we find out our Dharna - Read BG. It has many personalities and try to find your Dharma with this personalities. With all this keep in mind we have deep purpose beyond this body, this life is only a chapter - In BG Krishna explains about Fate/karma and free will/make decision. When we are born in this world we are born with certain type of body, which has certain amount of intelligence of course we can increase it and the same way we have certain amount of fate (our abilities some people have and some people don’t) - We can’t change fate but we can make right decision. According to the decision you make within the situation you will create your future karma/destiny/fate. Ultimately, interplay boy - Free will is given by god to is. It’s Naved taken away from us. Because it is meant for to live god - Smoking example - how we use our free will then we limit our ability you see someone can pick up a packet of cigarettes and on the cigarette packet it says smoking kills smoking causes cancer and why looking at that someone will still pick up a cigarette and smoking why that means that their Free Will has been curtailed but they're using their free will they have because of how they use their free will previously a certain level of addiction has taken place which now means they can't make a logical decision in that situation as to what to do rather than just an emotional decision. - Real freedom means the ability to utilise your free will without being pushed by any of the influence of this world. So, by accessing knowledge you open up your capacity to utilise your free will and then you will make the best decision.
