I love photographing wrens, Trond. One day one landed on top of my pop-up blind. I was listening to it scratching around up there when it hopped down into the window I was shooting through. After that its hopped up on my 500mm f/4 lens. Finally it finished up by going inside the sunshade before it flew away. That was a great experience that I'll never forget.
Beautiful video, Trond. The Wren is such a tiny bird with a huge voice. Always love your videos and look forward to each new one, thanks for sharing them with us. Pure magic!
Fantastic shots of this beautiful little guy. I also love his singing. Here they are rather shy and I rarely get close enough to take good shots. Your photos are fantastic as always! Hilsen fra Sveits - Heini
Great shots! especially those action shots. How do you trigger the shutter for those wide angle shots? Blue tooth? And do you "wake up" the camera after it goes "sleep" -- referring to those wide angle shots. Thanks!
It's built in the Z9 ..it will work like a trail camera and will start shooting according to some rules that you setup the camera to follow ,such as direction of target, size of target ,how long to shoot and how long to stop before shooting again ..all in the Z9.
You turn wildlife photography into an art form Trond, beautiful images 👌 patience is a virtue and you have it in spades. Studying your subjects habits is what gets such incredible results. Never tire of watching your vlogs. Thanks for the tips 👍
hi Trond what beautiful photos and what a beautiful, but oh so expensive lens. something like €17,500 in the EU. good luck with this new addition, and keep your beautiful photos with their stories coming.❤️😇👍
Great video and photos Trond! The Wren is also one of my favourite birds to photograph here in Shetland, where we have our own subspecies Troglodytes troglodytes zetlandicus.
Hey Trond, wow, the first wide angle is just awesome! I haven't seen one of them in many years. You really had a beautiful setting and the photos are spectacular! When's the next video? Lol Wow, the store you work for looks pretty big. Greg
Those are beautiful photos! How did you get the camera to focus on the right place when you did the wide angle shots? It looked like you were some distance away from the camera.
Nikon Z9 has a new feature in camera, where you can set it up to take picture everytime there is something moving in front of the camera. It is pretty awesome :)
Shame about the AF though, which test pictures, still life and posed portraits don't reveal. Anything that moves can be a challenge. Comsidering selling mine.
Interesting how You mention all this location knowledge, bird behavior knowledge and then show Yourself setting up with the wide angle next to a speaker at 9:34. You talked about Your approach but never mentioned You were using playback, and You can clearly see the bird reacting to the callback (most obvious sign is the wing flaps) rather than feeding in the video. Your videos are great, but telling people about how You got the shot without mentioning the biggest factor to getting those is a bit questionable
I also agree, I think transparency is only fair, especially if the video is educational/fieldcraft oriented, I am sure Trond will respond with his reasoning. Maybe he was listening to some heavy rock? 😆
Thanks for your feedback. I actually recorded at the end ,where I talked about using som sound to attract it to the area ,and then stop. I am not sure why I forgot to use this clip . Because I talk about it in my videos photographing the gold crest. Same thing. I know that in some countries it is illegal to use sound. Therefor I wanted to talk about it. But I can say what I was recording here. I only use a litle sound to attract it to the area. And when it repsond of curiosity I stop. There are also 3 other wrens in the area that call on each other there. And in the winter it does not hurt the nesting site. But we all should not over use it. That is for sure. Only to get the attention and then stop. Hopefully this was clearifying. Thanks for your compliment and good comment.
