If I buy it will it be responsive or unresponsive cus the yo-yos I buy on the internet are responsive I really need a unresponsive one to do advanced tricks
Bro fr I just clicked on something because I was TH-cam drunk and damn I am amazed at how well you made yo yo sound makes me want to buy a yo-yo what’s the variant like
This feels like a full circle moment. I started watching you pretty much 10 years ago for your tutorials, you made some Mickey tutorials and back then you seemed like a massive fan of his. I find this video very well explained, I love how you keep getting better and better at TH-cam! You put a recent yoyo history topic and made it likeable for non-yoyoers and yoyoers alike. I must add as well that a lot of people seem to think Angelo became "good" at speed combos in 2020, but what they are missing here is that he has been this fast since at least 2015. I remember a story from Gentry back from when Angelo was in the "Shutter Crew" (2016?2017?) where he did a very similar fast combo at an already insane speed. He has worked his ass off since before 2012 (when he was awarded best US junior player) and people still seem to believe Angelo "got lucky". He might have been a bit lucky that tiktok algorithm picked up his content back in 2020 (when, by the way, he was doing content non-stop), but he has played his cards right and marketed everything in a way that is now recognizable from afar. Yes, godspeed isn't really a thing in yoyoing, but in this day and age when I think of speed combo Angelo pops up in my mind -even if he isn't the creator of this type of tricks, just an insanely fast player. Props to him for his hard work.
What a blast fron the past. I can remember watching Hiroyuki Suzuki videos maybe early to mid 2000s when I was in elementary school and interested in yoyos and diablos. Didn't know the routine was called Godspeed, but when that opening clip started, I knew I've seen that movement somewhere. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Someone already said it but man I really never thought a yoyo video could firmly hold my attention for more than 60 seconds let alone a couple of minutes. Well executed video.
Great vid Brandon, very informative. Also one thing I noticed which may or may not be true but Angelo's rail combo uses relatively simpler rail elements as compared to people like Jason Liu or Shion, which helps him go faster. Also his combo incorporates a lot of hits which make the combo look faster than it is.
I've never tried yoyo before I thought to myself "I'll watch the intro for a bit" and the next thing I knew the vid was over! I was so into it. That was so entertaining you're a great storyteller and editor
I used to compete back in 1999 with some miscellaneous titles and sponsors (Yomega, Team Losi, 11th 1A Nationals, unofficial "Fastest 2H Looper" at Golden Apple), and also actually taught Jason Lee at my local shop, and this stuff would have looked like witchcraft to us back then. It's wild how far yoyoing has come.
@@thebrandonvu yup, we were both literally kids back then (I was 13, he was a year or two younger), and part of my sponsorship was instructing. I had no idea I was teaching one of the GOATs at the time. Sadly the shop went out of business and I gradually stopped yoyoing in highschool, but he kept at it apparently 😂
I subscribed just because of the way you told that story. I'm a 43 year old Former Marine from Cent Fl that doesn't even know why this popped up on his feed, but is damn glad it did. Great vid.
This was so interesting to watch! I love yo-yo even though I don’t possess any talent for it….. Also I heard Godspeed and yo-yo and all I could think of was Killua Zoldyck XD
Micky is the og of the godspeed, there's even a video of him doing his signsture double or nothing speed combo to advertise the yoyo called "speeder" at the time he was trying to profit out of it.
Yo-yo was popular in Russia more than 10 years ago, somewhere in 2013 the popularity ended. I decided to remember my childhood and bought myself a yo-yo and now the trends show it
I don't even like yoyos and I am not interested in them but somehow this gentleman got me to watch the entire video without losing interest and leaving for something else.
Being in my mid thirties, I never thought I'd be recommended a video like this. I remember being a kid and impressing people by making the Eiffel Tower with the string, now I see that was pretty basic lol. I had no idea about this kind of stuff until 10 minutes ago
GREAT VIDEO. little sidenote though, please make the background music a bit quieter it makes it harder to focus on your voice. Other than that thank you for the documentary!
Oh man thanks for reminding me of one of the Kings of yoyo Hiroyuki Suzuki I also remember all of these contest like it was yesterday I live in Hawaii and met Evan when he was the yoyo baby lol so I guess you could say I have been playing for over 10 years lol I wish I could compete I just don't have enough funds to get to a contest
Having played yo-yos (thru influence of a certain anime and TV show) during the majority of my teen years, I'm just glad to be able to pull off the basic tricks😂 I could never hope to perform the tricks these masters show.
Hey brandon quick vid suggestion maybe bring back the learn tricks like a pro series back!iam 4 months into yoyoing and got i lil speed combo but its a very short one ahhahahaah anyways nice content!very story like love it brandon thank you for vlogging for us!!!!(please do more story vids hahahaha i really liked the vids that you tell us on how you won anyc or how you got dq'ed from a yoyo contest but even if u don't do more of those i'll still love your content!)
I don't have TikTok but I've definitely seen some of my friends do this trick back in school. Not as fast though. Wanted to join them but 10 years ago, I didn't exactly have any money to buy a yoyo with.
I can't be the only one that's scrolling the comment's section checking if senpai noticed you. Good stuff! Maybe do a history lesson on the DNA. Can't remember how it goes but it probably has bits of Pali, Kohta, Ethan wong and Han sanpraset in it. :D
It's crazy how the yo-yo has been around since the 50s with techniques and tricks being a thing and still today people are finding new ways to mess with it.

This is probably one of my most favorite videos you've ever made the amount of History in it is crazy.
I don't even play yoyo, and I'm here watching the whole video about something that I will never do. Kudos to you. This is very interesting.
Hiroyuki Suzuki is living legend, so many yoyo player inspired from him 🔥🔥🔥
That "we're actually not" and "senpai notice me" had me dead 💀😂
Lmfao

I know nothing about yoyos, except that godspeed is killua's electric ability
Well if you watched this video, you now know more than 99% of the population.
Isn't Killua's brother gift him a yoyo?

This is definitely in the top 5 of your body of work, one of the most interesting pieces of yoyo content I've ever seen. Incredible video, great job
Thanks bro! Worked really hard on this glad you enjoyed it.
I loved growing up and watching micky. His style was so crazy back then. shout out the PHENOM!!!

Brandon: Each string hit counted as a point.

Great video. I had no idea about the significance that the mach 5 mount had on contests and speed combo. Thanks for sharing this!
Brandon was like our school teacher at this point😂
Weird title, but ok.
Didn't know people still played with yo-yos. this was a thing back in the 70's.

Mickey is the most revolutionary yoyo competitor of the past two decades and I’ll die on that hill.
We need new Yoyo anime to entice the young generation into the hype again.
Yes we do!
