Chestnut-headed Tesia (Cettia castaneocoronata)

Adorably round and tailless small ground dweller; the combination of bright white eyering, deep cinnamon-brown head, and yellow throat is distinct and easily identifiable. Breeds in montane and hill forests, with a preference for densely vegetated wet or damp areas near streams and gullies. Winter in scrubby forest with forest edge growth in the lower foothills. Forages actively on the ground in dense cover, rarely venturing out into the open. Produces a loud, fluid-sounding "chee-leu-chee-wit," as well as several sharp, high-pitched sounds.
