I love that you provide a natural diet for him 😊 I often forage for my rabbits similar plants to what a tortoise would eat, in fact you can buy seed mixes marketed as rabbit or tortoise even though they’re exactly the same because they require similar plants. I have a huge collection of identification books 😂

the water bowl looks very small for him? They sell dandelions in the supermarket. Unfortunately, online says dandelion is a "feed in moderation" type food. Many food I think is great for him, they say "feed in moderation"...I didn't hear what you had on that yellow plate. I don't recognize it at all as a green or fruit?

i built the same enclousre you did, but my room stays around 70 degrees but i have a heat lamp, lamp with a 40 watt bulb for light and a 14 inch uvb STRIP BULB

kota, my newly bought, juvenile testudo, will only fall asleep on me and not her enclosure. any idea on how to get her to fall asleep without holding her. she completely destroys her enclosure if she’s set in there before she’s held....
Our adventure 8 months Eastern Herman like that to. Yesterday he got him self flip over we got scared didn’t know how long he was like that.

I love this!! Have been pondering a tortoise myself for awhile. I grew up raising box turtles so seeing Blue reminds me what amazing reptiles they are. Thanks for sharing his day. Really love idea of growing own greens. This would be great for dragons too. Think of all money you are saving from Krogers!!

Rachel neale you can just buy a cutter bone at a pet store. They are usually located under the bird section and just place it in your tortoise’s enclosure. My tortoise loves to use it and it also helps trim his beak too. Hope this helped

We keep our house cool. Usually 68-70 degrees. Should I keep a heat lamp on at all times?
Was that all you feed it in a day? So if I bought a bag of spinach, how long would it last? Along with pellets.
Just found one on the side walk and it’s not my neighbors, I don’t know how it got there :/ I’m just thinking someone left it there :( so I put it in my backyard and tried to give her some veggies but didn’t eat at all, didn’t then drink water. Just went to hide under a bush and it’s been 2 days and the same thing just hides . When should I be concerned ? What is their favorite food? Any tips ? What should I buy first to better accommodate her ? I’m calling her Lola for now don’t know if it’s a boy or girl. Any advice helps ! Thanks !

Hello! Just picked up a Russian Tortoise and I’ve never owned a tortoise of any species before. Was told that I should be dusting food daily with calcium powder. Why do you do it every other day as opposed to daily?
Hello. I have a tortiose and for reasons he doesn’t eat? Like 2 days without food and i am extremely cared and hes name is abdullah boy and 1 years old or more please put information about to teach him to to eat. Also he also is not so actually moving but when i grab him he moves his head and his hands and also his pp has a skin which is 1 skin ripped out. I take extreme care but it doesn’t help i been trying carrots and more but he doesn’t eat 1 piece

Declorinated water only
Lol I've heard many controversial things on reptile water. I've owned many reptiles and one of my friend owns 300+, including snakes, turtles, geckos, and all kinds of lizards. He and me alike both use normal tap water. Our rule is if we can drink it they can too! If you own only a couple reptiles, you could make yourself feel safer by using filtered refrigerator water but honestly tap water is definitely not going to kill or even harm your animals. Most reptiles drink rain water and you think that is clean???. Just take into consideration that tap water( unless has high hard-mineral deposits) should be fine.
* The hard mineral deposits can be discovered just by spraying glass with the water and if it leaves a dry powder like substance that can be scratched off, stay away from it.
**Also DISTILLED WATER IS NOT GOOD! reptiles need the natural minerals in water and distilled water has all of those minerals removed..
What kind of Mazuri do you feed him? Brand wise :) I can’t get mine to touch the Mazuri but I always try to mix it in with his greens and weeds.

I bought a tortoise about a month ago. She is a Greek tortoise and looks very much like blue. Most folks have no idea how demanding they are to keep healthy. I didn't. They need 80 temperatures and special lights and food. Without the proper care they will fade away and die within a year.

My tortoise's routine - hide for 2 weeks, come out to eat, roam around the house, hide for 2 weeks. Tortoises don't need a routine. Just let them live on their own terms.
What were you feeding blue at the end of video? I have a Herman's almost the same size as him
