Bruckner & Beethoven - Gilbert & Barnatan | NDR

The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra performed in the Elbphilharmonie under the direction of Alan Gilbert Bruckner's Seventh Symphony. The Israeli pianist Inon Barnatan plays Beethoven.

Bruckner schreibt in seinem Adagio "Sehr langsam" vor! Das Adagio hier ist ja fast der schnellste Satz der gesamten Sinfonie. Eine Katastrophe!

Der Kontrast macht es aus. Das Tempo im Adagio ist zwar schneller als die meisten anderen Interpretationen, ich finde es aber noch in Ordnung. Mich stört aber eher, dass Gilbert in den Ecksätzen mitunter ein bisschen schleppt... Dadurch verliert der zweite Satz ein Stückweit seine Funktion als Ruhepol der Sinfonie.
