Honestly Armenia is not only one of the oldest country in the world, but one of amazing countries. There are so many unforgettable places in Armenia. Welcome to Armenia!
i remember we went to gyumri last year to see my relatives and family since im armenian, and we also came to ponchik monchik! ive never forgotten how good the ponchiks were
Fantastic travel video in a place I had not even heard of because it's in an area the Western media ignore. Such a shame. Lovely people. Fantastic traditions
Public Notice : 😮every ethnicity eats animal organs! there is no ethnicity that does not have animal heads, organs, etc. in their authentic traditional cuisine. Hungry TH-camrs are eager to create shocking contact so that people will watch their videos. As a result, one culture gets stereotyped or singled out as eating primitive food. As you can see, even the Armenian guys sitting with him did not order the cows head or the lambs head, or any head. It’s just something the restaurant put on the menu because in old times people ate that food to keep their bodies warm, and they probably had some kind of traditional custom around it to venerate the animal that they were consuming. End of story. 🫡🙄
As an Armenian, I can confirm your assessment to be accurate. It's a rarely consumed dish meant to hearken back to a time when people consumed it out scarcity, especially in the winter months. The name used for it in Armenia ("kyalla") is originally an Iranian borrowing (کله) and has the same name in neighboring countries like Azerbaijan ("kəllə") and Turkey ("kelle"). The dish has taken a special place in Gyumri's cuisine, hence the reason people might be served it in that city when asking for local specialties.

Great video although its too short for a city like Gyumriiii
No doubt about it. Originally this video was over an hour - we cut it down a lot to try and keep people engaged 😂
I would not be able to get past the fact that a lambs head cooked or not is something I could eat.😱😱🤣🤣
Eyy 🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲
The roasted mutton head is not an Armenian food but very common in Italy, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, Egypt. It is called elsewhere, nifa.
