In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. I take a cordless angle grinder and a couple of other cutting tools when I go out scrapping. Chopping down those aluminum chairs and tables saves some space for more stuff. I picked up a fridge with he door removed and used it as a bin for all the poles and pieces I gathered & just pushed it off the truck at the scrapyard. Saved a lot of time.

People throw out things that they do not use for a while. So I think that the water pump is still good , the carb. is easy to clean .

Nice home owner fed Dotty good :) Its too bad no one picks up scrap where I live but it is what it is.
In SoCal, the homeless pick up the curbside scrap, and take it back to their sidewalk homes. My street corner looked like a scrap yard for several months. City finally cleaned it up a month ago, but the homeless returned the same day, and started the scrap collection all over again.
Seen 2 dishwashers on curb while picking up recycling today and thought of Mike

You might want to invest in a lift on the back of your truck. My neighbor installed windows, siding and whatever else, and bought a used truck with a lift on the back. He loved it so much that he put one on his next truck

Where I live, cans are worth a nickel each - bottle deposit. That said, if they're crushed like Mike finds them they're worth scrap aluminum ..i.e. Don't Bother.
Cans are.90 a lb. Where I live.
I love when people explain their trash to me. Like 'Yeah, that still works.' Had a guy tell me today while I picked up a vacuum from his trash 'That vacuum works great.' Is that why you are throwing it away? No need to explain.

I really wish I would have bought a truck instead of a Camry earlier this year. The amount of scrap I have to pass up makes me cringe. Regardless I load my baby down with what I can fit!
