Upbeat anime voice? If you understand the lyric, you'll know it's supposed to be a melancholic but hopeful song. And the voice fits just right for that intent. And whoever consider this upbeat, man, I can only shake my head.
They stripped the vocals?? I always thought this song was far worse in Wild ARMs Alter Code: F, I didn't know the localization stripped the soul out of it! I looked this up as an example of the original composer making the song worse in remake... then I find out the localization butchered it. Just wow!
That's a thing across the whole game; they stripped more or less any evidence of Voice Acting from the game too, guess they weren't given a VA Dubbing budget. The Japanese version had voices during battle.
Iunno why people are going on about the vocals. The original had no vocals at all, just a somber humming choir, which fits the narrative way better. The city is destroyed, the king is dead, many have lost their lives and their homes, and an object of untold value and power was surrendered to save those still alive. An upbeat anime voice is not what is needed here. They shuda just kept the humming choir.
It's an shame that the vocals were cut out when this came too the US. She has an lovely voice.

Fuck, I love this.
