‘Shine’ is a dedication to the legacy of the 11th century scientist Ibn Al-Haytham. ‘Shine' features on Sami Yusuf’s music score for Ahmed Salim's short film “1001 Inventions and the World of Ibn Al-Haytham” starring Omar Sharif, his final lead performance before his death in July 2015.
'Shine' supports a global Ibn Al-Haytham awareness campaign from 1001 Inventions in partnership with UNESCO that is part of United Nations proclaimed 'International Year of Light'.

To understand the story behind this amazing song.. it talks about a person called Ibn al-Haytham
.. he was an Arabian scientist and was interested in light and studied it.. he got to the prison in a time of his life... but in that place he noticed sth ..the light which went through the prison's window was upside down on the apposite wall which is shown in 02:00 and that was the beginning of the camera.. It's actually called pinhole camera< you can search for camera's history > ...so you can see that he studied the light and understood it in the darkest place in the world^the prison^ ... he literally shined in the dark.. I hope you will shine too someday^_^

Sami Yusuf is the best musician I have ever known. Since my childhood his songs were very special like from an other world! He is so unique- there will be no other talent like him in the future I believe. His messages his choice of instruments and the content are extraordinary- emphasized by his stunning voice mashaa Allah! I do listen every single day to his music- more to come in shaa Allah
