I found out on my own well in the original game I was thinking why all these nitros? So I just went in the fake door and I thought it was a glitch that they had something in mind but patched it with a fake turns out the gem was there and I was happy (for some reason)

I had the same issue, my guess is it's the single crate amongst the nitros when you get the green gem, you'd think the green nitro detonation box would get that one too as it's amongst them, but maybe not! Going back to check now!
The best way to go about the secrets in this game... is actually by intuition. Besides the Blue Gem, all you have to do is make yourself this question: "why is that there?" For instance: - why are these planks still there after the bear fell into the hole? - why are these platforms here in the water after the Polar run section? - why are the Nitro crates making a ladder? And hold on, they aren't hopping like the others either... - why is a normal platform there on the river? Can I reach it? - why are there so many Nitro crates in this small tunnel, especially at the back, seemingly guarding only this crate and nothing else... in a level with a colored gem in it?

I always thought this level was some sort of a giant submarine or a sunken ship engine room as a kid but sure lets go with sewers.
