  • The second collection of Elric stories contains some of Michael Moorcock's earliest writings about the albino warrior, and some of the best.

I love the older Elric books. I like the newer ones also, but the later trilogy in volume 3 is very multiverse heavy, and as much a part of Moorcock’s Von Bek series as it is Elric.
You might also enjoy the Corum books, also by Michael Moorcock. Of his many series, Corum seems to be the closest to Elric. Might also be worth checking out Roger Zelazny’s Dilvish the Damned.

Moorcock is pretty great. Basically ground zero for new wave sf as an editor of New Worlds too. Everyone doing multiverse stuff from King to Marvel movies are bagging on his stuff, and not very well.
The light, pulpy nature of his stories was a reply to the literary stuffiness of Tolkien and that crowd. The action and character development is brisk but the philosophical underpinnings are as deep as any you'll find. Moorcock wrote with standalone adventures in mind that could be widely enjoyed.
