- Nukumanu, formerly Tasman Islands, is an atoll of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea, located in the Southwestern Pacific Ocean, 4 degrees south of the equator and share the border with the Solomon Islands.

Thank you for doing this. My Dad is from there. Because of how remote it is..sadly Dad never got the chance to take me there (unlike my older siblings) and meet everyone and see the place before his death..so this is like a glimpse into my origins..thank you again.

Nuku in Fijian means sand and manu means animals or birds so it is a land or Island of birds in Fijian translation. The people look like Tuvaluans.
