    I gradually learned how to lab him over two years. Started off just learning how to launch, crouch dash/back dash and do simple combos. Then I started learning to punish and mix up. Then learned how to be patient, block punish, utilise sidestepping and change the pace of the match with poking and setting up. The learning curve of Tekken is amazing, and is how I taught myself to play Jin (along with your guides as well 😁) And till this day, I’m still learning Jin.

      Seth Wellington quick story:
      I picked Jin as my main since I was more familiar with him (Only played Tekken 4 and 5, but I spammed Law and Steve lol) I watched videos and whatnot about what to do and most said to learn how to perform the electric. I tried and practiced but I was so trash that I gave up and just relied on normal combos and pokes that would help me win without the ewhf. After about a month and a half, I gave up. I had fun on ranked but my Jin was seriously lacking electrics to scare my opponents. After a string of defeats from better Jin players who could hit electrics, I dropped Jin and started using Kazuya instead. Not only was he slightly easier (at least to me) but his normal wind god fist always launched so I felt assured since if it hit I’d get a combo. I kept using Kazuya for a few weeks and ultimately started to get used to wavedashing and soon enough I was beginning to hit an electric every now and then. The longer I played as Kazuya the better I got at timing the electrics. Since his electric inputs felt easier, my confidence in executing the inputs increased and soon enough I was hitting electrics semi-consistently. My Kazuya was okay, but I started hitting a block on ranked when I realised that while I could now hit electrics, my Kazuya play style lacked everything else since I relied heavily on one move. So, I decided to give Jin another shot. All that time with Kazuya actually helped me getting down the timing and input window for hitting the electric, that after a few hours on practice I started hitting Jin’s electric quite consistently. So after a few warm ups on player matches I went back to ranked with my new found confidence and finally started to get back into winning. Because I always could do well with Jin’s basic combos and pokes, with the addition of hitting electrics I was now able to hold my own and win matches.
      Sorry for the long novel, but if you’ve read it up to here, basically it took me learning another character with the same move to learn the timing better and gain confidence. I also use pad, which lots of people say it’s easier to learn it on.

    3 takeaways
    1) Punish practice, new patch got the punish tool on practice and playbacks so I'll start using those .
    2) Microdash
    3) Wavedash / Backdash

    Thank you so much for this video. I just started and I got the main moves down, the bead and bitter combo but my god I need to work in the lab because I'm dying in the rank matches. 4 wins total.

    I feel like the Jin community has made an image of Jin that he's super hard to play and that you need tons of hours in training in order to play him. For beginners I do not think this is the case: you can play Jin very minimalistic with only a few moves which are the tekken basic jabs, df1, his lows and pokes. And yes, Jin does have a lot of good moves but it depends on what style of Jin you want to play, because you'll not use all of those good moves if you are a "poking" type of Jin or if you are a more aggresive one.
    So Jin can get difficult as you get better in Tekken, but he's also a very standard character that can be played like a normal tekken character, he is NOT like yoshimitsu at all.

      214 is never guaranteed after b21 or 2 1, last 4 kick is only guaranteed if the second hit is a counter.

      In short
      not that difficult to learn but
      hard to master

    • @DamageXcaling
      @DamageXcaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are way off here, i clearly said last hit of 214 connects if 2nd hit counter hits, b21 being +2 if ppl try to retaliate after because of small advantage all 214 is going to hit if he catches you mashing to get your turn back.
      Also, i never said jin is going to be dificult, but he will take time in the lab, you shrinking your moveset to play him doesn't change the fact that you will need to know what moves you should use to punish, Jin labs defense mostly, over offense. After reading your post it seems you lost yourself in the context of the video without understanding though, you got it all backwards.

      Poking doesn't work that much at all in low tier where your opponents does so many gimmicks. Also as a beginner you'll find that your poking approach gets old fast when your opponent realizes how limited your moves/mixups are. Unless you have a really good defensive instinct (as a beginner), you won't do much with a poking Jin approach in green/yellow ranks.

      Yeah try poking all day, and you'll eat a big mean power crush to the face.

  • @ВьюлигИррат

    Microdash isn't worth it. Unless you're playing bears, second b3, f+1 without ender into dash savage sword or b2, delayed 1 will do the job.

    • @DamageXcaling
      @DamageXcaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Season 1 and 2 was necessary otherwise no decent wallsplat, and jin relies heavily on it, these days you just do zen1,3 and that's it.

    • @ВьюлигИррат
      @ВьюлигИррат 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DamageXcaling But dude, now there is zen 1,3. Why bother? I would say, technically zen cancel now much more useful skill since most powerfull poking coming from it as well as high damaging combos.

    • @DamageXcaling
      @DamageXcaling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ВьюлигИррат There are situations where microdash still pays off huge and zen 1,3 won't give you that, but its very rare, more of an adjustment thing.
