I can never express how grateful I am that Oda-Sensei has based Dressrosa and its main villain in my country, I love how he has traced it in all aspects. I remember the first time I got to the arch; the flowers, the flamenco, the names in Spanish (Diamante, Corazón, Trébol), the places and monuments that are nods to real places in Spain... Just wonderful! Also, finding out that some characters of the show had Spanish foods as their favorite dish was just too good for me. Paella, Gazpacho, and even Crema Catalana! You don't know how excited I got finding those things out.

Croc was not pure evil from childhood... Mingo tasted both celestial heaven and hell which twisted his heart permanently.
I wouldn't even call Croc a hero at this point either, he just maybe has an OUNCE of respect for Luffy's resolve now. He's definitely still scheming something in the New World because he still wants to be Pirate King himself deep down in his heart. And if Luffy will endure some teeth-clenched teamwork with him, there's no way he'll EVER forgive him for what he did to himself, Vivi, Cobra, and Robin. Guy left him for dead twice, and committed the cardinal sin of trying to kill TWO of his crewmates! There's a reason you literally saw a switch flip in his head when he first encountered him in Inpel Down. He forgave Buggy and Mr. 3 because he literally forgot about them, and Bon Clay was already his friend for real beforehand. He'll never forget Vivi's pain for what he put Alabasta through, nor should any of them for that matter. That said, I think he's got a better shot at full redemption than someone like Doflamingo, Luuci, Arlong, Akainu, Blackbeard, or Judge does.
