I think its a bit disingenuous to compare Presale prices and including them as "Day 1" prices, then saying "Look, prices have tanked as I said they would," when those actual Day 1 prices should be "The Starting Price," if you're going to keep making "Don't buy now" videos, referring to the Presale prices.

I mean, I'm looking at singles prices and at least for the non-premium cards, by and large they appear to be trending down.
You would be correct in most instances like pokemon or yugioh but one piece is different. One piece has a slow roll out instead of flooding max supply on day one
But cards are sold presale. And especially at and around the prerelease. My point is wait a couple of weeks after release to buy. They always fall at that point :)
That's not the issue. When people say you were wrong, they mean the following.
1. You told people to wait. That prices would go down and they have not.
2. The video in which you showed that prices were going down, you showed a lot of SP's which ironically you did not show in this video with the exception of nami (and waifus). Those cards have exploded in prices. Lucci, Kaido have gone up since that video.
3. You told people not to buy booster boxes because there will be more restock soon, yet those who might've listened to you, just missed out since booster box prices have increased 50-60% since.
4. Speaking of restocks, you constantly tell people that because you know business that you're educated enough to know how a tcg business works, and that it's in their best interest to keep restocking product to make money, but that is not true. Tcg's don't work like that. I can guarantee you that as someone who has a store. You know how much money they can make just restocking romance dawn. There's a reason they don't.
5. Lastly, you tend to include pre-order prices in your analysis which is very deceiving. Almost all cards plummet after release.
And what is that reason for them for not restocking old set?

@@sergia8748I mean, as more sets come out, there are less chances for them to restock old sets. Since they need to get current product printed.
Two major reasons, the printing chain and demand.
1. Placing an order for prints takes 4 to 5 months on average and with the release of new products it is impossible to continually reprint old products.
2. they must not flood the market because otherwise this will negatively impact the product and the franchise, the notion of collectible only has (monetary) value if there is demand, if the good exceeds in quantity the demand for blatantly prices and demand are collapsing, just look at the majority of TCGs which have increased their printing following the bull linked to the pandemic and which are spitting in 2023
Bandai has more to gain by keeping printing tight to maintain a climate of FOMO, the best quantity of printing is demand minus one.
@@sergia8748they won’t halt production of newer sets just to go back in time and reprint older sets. They print sets usually within a 6 month window and after they finish that print run, that’s it. Also, bandai isn’t pokémon. two entirely different entities, with completely different IP’s.
Alt art leader cards are crashing because people are cracking high priced boxes trying to hit a Manga/Signed and the leaders are a way to recoup costs. Reprints wont bring prices down much now that retailers know what people are willing to pay. The set will be forever inflated

Prices are high because of lottery cards, which drives the prices down of singles because everyone is cracking boxes, there is product for new players just not sealed product. The only cards you can argue that are hard to get for new players are starter deck staples and secret rares otherwise it’s not too expensive to get into unless you want max rarity .
Crazy to see prices just 2 weeks later
Buying OP cards has been a nightmare lately. I save enough money for Law (parallel) and the card shot up $100 from the amount I saved. Doesn't really help that some people buying out specific cards to drive up the price. I thought switching over from Pokemon would be less costly, but it actually worse.
booster packs are cheaper than the box because the packs come from a box already open and pulled out the hits
Correct. And if you pay a fair price with that borne in mind it can lead to some cheap collections being built up :)
I think part of the reason for the increase in the SP rares and manga cards are due to buyouts, as from what I have heard there were talks about doing it in the one piece tcg community discord.
Yeah, all the SPs went sky high because of buyouts, it's not an organic change in price when 6 cards double their price without an specific reason, being happening with other cards too. Luffy 5 is another example, there has been no changes in the last couple weeks but they doubled the price in a week.

I did, however, notice that radical growth overnight on some cards, which like you said was inorganic and not natural change. Bottom line, people suck... Now boxes are outrageous and the manga rares are further out of my reach.
People who Scalp OP-05 booster boxes are the worst! I've gone to tens of shops and retailers since release, and cant find any of these damn things!!! Then you got people buying hundreds of them, marking them up by at least 80%(even if they claim to be an official bandai distributor), ripping them open on stream for you, then making you wait for those cards to ship hoping something doesn't happen to them in the mail. I'm aware all card games are like this, but the fact how ridiculously pay to play this game is keeps me from competing against anybody who's been playing since/prior OP-03. I want to play this game, but it's current state makes me want to quit already, even though I've spent hundreds on cards already.
Those people that buy tens of booster boxes just for a very rare card are the worst kind of people that ruin the experience for everyone else that just want to experience this Trading Card Game from a casual level...
I'm sorry but this is a healthy card economy, 115$ for a full art leader Sakazuki a top tier meta card that's affordable. I don't feel bad
i've gotta say I'm getting real worried about this game. Bandai is not doing themselves any favors with these low prints. There's absolutely no way we can continue with these prices, there are simply not enough people able / willing to pay for them.
I opened 4 boxes of OP05 and got Uta SP, Nami SP, Kaido SP, Sakazuki Leader, Enel Leader, Sabo Leader, Kid AA, Oda Luffy (non-signed) and Kaido SEC
My shop never even got a box

We knew we were getting a reprint when Pika is misprinted in the set but question is the reprint going to be bigger then the original run as everything sells out in minutes to a hour after stock

I am holding onto my Manga Luffy! I thought I'd sell it but I honestly love the card and it's the gem of my collection. It was in my 5th pack of the one box I have been able to get and that was on opening day.
If you need money now, you should sell it.

People’s complaints won’t drive the market price down. Even reprints won’t, just look at manga shanks and op01 boxes. All got reprints yet they spiked drastically.

Before everyone jumped on the one piece scene, Bandai rarely ever does reprints. See Dragonball and digimon for reference. One piece was the one exception that they did reprints and massive reprints. But i dont expect them to be like pokemon and keeps reprinting the set for a year. If anything, it will be like set 4, with one big reprint and move onto the next sets...

@@gekhang people do care for Digimon tbh. Still top 7 ranked tcg now. Also cap filled up for nationals. And it’s been going on for 3+ years so it’s still going strong with no signs of stopping.
@@Ventus_Gaming sorry i meant to say. on the selling side of things. You buy a animal colosseum Boosterbox at $63.90 at distributor. Currently preselling at $69.85 shipped on tcgplayer. and by release day it will be $50-60. It's a lost at release day. No shop will survive on that.

Wait til op06 comes out. The best time to buy leaders in one set, is during the release of a new set. Prices will fall by then
Keep an eye on prices. They will start to go down. Then at some point OP-05 will actually stop being printed and they'll start going up. You wanna buy right before that happens. If you watch prices you;ll see it hopefully
So many ppl saying “of course the prices weren’t going to go down” - my people, nobody, NOBODY could have foreseen the level of GREED come about from this set. Asia’s Manga Luffy is still $1k but the West’s is selling for $3-4k? It’s a bunch of sacks buying up what they can and reselling it. Lorcana is gone now for these ppl and Pokemon is finally printing on par with how fast these scummy ppl could get their hands on the cards, and so now they gotta jump to another TCG. Simple as that.

Bandai has repeatedly come out to say that there is no plan to make One Piece tcg normal/regular game pieces , Bandai “reprints are not the same things as Pokemon reprints ….
Would like to hear you talk about the alleged market manipulation talk going around. Definitely seeing some weird buyouts going on.
I mentioned this a bit in my Manga Luffy $4k video but it's hard to know what's really manipulation, I have to be careful not to start a witchunt :)
Wossy is right that this set will be reprinted but what he fails to mention is that the price is not going any lower than 130-140 usd. It took Pokemon about one year to print to demand, fingers crossed Bandai are a little faster than that.
game has been out for a year and pokémon has been around for two decades. we probably won’t see an increase in prints of OP until late into this year or more realistically… 2025. It takes time to ramp up production
Don’t be surprised when the reprint comes, boxes will hover around 180-200.
Romance Dawn was super high on release. It went down when reprints came. We saw this happen :) I'm talking one piece here
So it was HIGH at prerelease and it stabled out after release.. there is no crash.
Romance Dawn are $400-500 a box in my area. Crazy prices. Op-04 being given away 😂😂 but op-05 $200 a box at my local shop
Some friends i know bought 8 english boxes at 300 a piece and never pulled no manga. Pretty devastating considering these manga chases are like the equivalent of weiss scharwz SSP's at least japanese is a little forgiving in price and risk

OP cards have a lot of room to run. Buying up sealed OP-01 and OP-05 to keep for a long time.

You think those sold listings are legit or are they market manipulation where people are buying their own cards to create sold listings or a friend is buying a card from a seller and but their not actually buying it? This set is super new and yes I understand manga rares are super hard to pull but cards fetching these kinds of prices this early on seems outrageous. I LOVE one piece and love collecting the cards but I fear these ridiculous prices are gonna make people leave the hobby or not even want to come into the hobby because of second hand market manipulation. Look at Pokemon for example, alt art umbreon vmax and rayquaza vmax are very very hard to pull but they aren’t fetching these kinds of prices. I will continue to collect one piece cause I love one piece but unless I pull a manga rare I will never own one. But with these kinds of prices on these cards does make me worry for the longevity of the game.
I pay $120 for all my boxes from LGS. I've got 6 boxes. Mission Games and Level One both in KC,MO USA. There where others "Spankes" selling them for $150 but thats for suckers.

Yes they did. There's some stock out there now. A shop near me just got a case in but packs are iirc $16 each. Outside of the official store though I wouldn't bet on finding it at retail price.

Product is just scarce for everything one piece can’t walk into any store right now especially in my area only two lgs sell one piece and my local can’t keep stock sells immediately because they sell at msrp and they are great for that but my other lgs marks items up just to make sure they have stock for players and are overpriced by almost double msrp due to that. Plus we have just seen spikes in certain cards everyday it feels like due to under printing. There just needs to be more in general.
We opened 5 cases, snagged a Kid and 3 Signed Luffy's, leaving us needing just Law and Luffy Mangas to be completely done collecting every card from OP01-OP05...saw the prices seemed a bit too high and decided to wait, then watched in horror as they skyrocketed. It feels unsustainable, so we are waiting for more product to get released to see how that impacts the market and hopefully brings those cards back down to earth.
Prices for the manga rares are not normal for something that just came out… i mean a manga card that just came out should not to be same price or higher than the first manga rare that is not getting printed anymore… ridiculous. Hopefully prices correct themselves once more prints of op05 come out
Truth is demand. Gear 5 luffy is the goat while shanks is whatever. Also look at pokemon. A brand new alt art can be 600$ with thousands printed while some vintage rare cards won't pass 100. It's all demand.
They could also just not reprint the old sets, but bring new sets with old reprinted cards so people can play the game for cheaper and collectors value doesnt tank, would probably be the best solution for all sides. They will also still make money so eveybodys happy

Im fine with doing that later but not now we need to purge the people who are just scalping the game 1st so keep printing all the sets for now if your only goal is to buy cards and have them go up in value then kick rocks people like that ruin it for everyone.

Booster boxes are almost selling for almost $300 as of today
I hadn’t been able to find these anywhere in person I don’t live in a big city and finally decided to check the sports card store because the owner gets some tcg stuff every once and awhile and low and behold he got in 3 Op-05 booster boxes and there was only one left and I got it for $180 a couple days ago. He doesn’t really know anything about it so he doesn’t realize they’re selling for $250ish or more so got lucky with that deal but I doubt he’ll get any more. I doubt I can convince him to get more without him figuring out they’re selling for for more but I’m not gonna wanna pay $250 for it but anyway got lucky I could get this one box for $180 I can finally open some will probably open it tonight
They need to print more cause I can’t get my hands on anything I want from this set for a fair price
The problem is that Bandai choose to do waves distribution to make an artificial scarcity
If its to play, Luccis are 2 dollars, Rebeccas go up for 4, rush Enels are like a dollar fifty. What isn't fairly priced? Prices are at rock bottom for base rarity cards. If its to collect, what you consider a fair price is likely just what you'd prefer to pay and it's not in line with the market...🤷♂
REPRINT: has there been a reprint since OP1? Dbs? Digimon? Do they get reprints or just insignificant restocks?
The issue is that the reprints are like 10-20% of the first wave and this is insignificant to change the price.
Actually in Europe you can get boxes for 140-150€ but in a month surely is going to be like ebay prices 200-220€. As you say, this is the best set of the tcg, people is opening a lot of boxes and is hard to find stock.
You're right. It's selling out fast. But if we know this then Bandai know it too. And they're a profit making business. So what makes more money: printing a set they know is gonna sell, or deliberately not printing in the hope that the next set sells better?
i think it is not rare that the special rares are jumping in price while manga leaders are dipping. special rares are 'x' amount in a case while manga leaders you have more chance to pull.

Nobody know. We will see. Even if Bandai reprint OP5, I believe the price of those manga cards and oda card will never go down too much. The demands are quite high too.

Everyone still chasing manga , people sitting on cases. My lcs has 2 cases and refused to sell me boxes.
I've been selling them, started at 135, then 140, 145 and now 150. The only inconsistency is there isn't huge volumes of buyers but prices are rising
I guarantee you that over 50% of those "buyers" are investors looking for the rare cards to sell for thousands of dollars...

From what ive heard from a rep ODA himself said he wanted this set to be limited. He wants his special art/signed card to be very low quantity. So without that card being printed at a normal rate they cant justify printing more stock. This set will set records as far as value of specialty cards/SP's/Alt Leaders/ alt arts and Mangas. I feel bad about the people who want these cards but this is a premium set. Gotta get it day one or shop secondary market.

as an lgs worker, your calculation of msrp is wrong in general. packs arent sold at a standard price like that at most lgs's since we need to make some money (not excusing stores that scalp hard). 107 is definitely not msrp.

OP 05 is the best booster cause you can pull 3 Manga cards and a signed Luffy. Probability is higher compared to other boosters and I think Bandai noticed thats why they only have 1 manga in OP 06. They may reprint but manga alt cards might not be reprinted cause you dont really need them to play the game.
It’s actually much lower. You’re not getting a chance at 3 mangas per box. You’re getting a chance at 1 of 4 per box. This means that if you’re trying to snipe a specific manga or signed luffy, the probability is much much lower as compared to just 1 rare. The rates haven’t really changed much.

My man I promise you a company making a card game, is not doing it for the changing metas but for money. If they have the option to pause all new cards for 5 months from ever being released but they get to sell out of every piece of cardboard they print, I promise you they won't stop printing.

You teach business but you don’t understand the scarcity of supplies and demand generation as a result. You can’t print and inflate rare cards. People want rare cards because they are special and not everyone can get it. You totally missed the point.
No. I haven't. Bandai wants people hooked for the long run. You don't do that by having a few scarce cards that you don't reprint. You get that by hooking people into the game for the long run which only happens if you keep printing. And again, we saw them print op-02 and op-01 for 9 months+ after release. That literally happened. We saw it :)
