Ehrlich and others said 2 billion humans at the various inequitable consumption levels c. 1970 was sustainable, above which it is unsustainable ie taxes and undermines the principle, the ecology etc. Perhaps this sustainable population could be forced by governments wiping out global female fertility. Rachel Carson: eco abuses, extinctions due to overfishing, farming with chemicals. Of course, there are no eco reforms and no eco consciousness in the grant dependent research labs of universities, boardrooms and in the general populations of the West. I think its clear most species are not going to survive human pressures for many more generations. There is no evidence that our hubristic species is paying attention to climate change, or in general adapting to the environment. The evidence is that most humans are narrow, hubristic, only interested in finding ways to make money adapting the environment to other narrow humans.

I visited Boston in the 1980s and observed that the car traffic was Crazy! Just waiting downtown for my friend to pick me up I saw several near miss accidents and had to step back on the sidewalk when it looked like a car was going to drive up over the curb and run me over. Many drivers took their lives into their hands doing the Boston Creep - driving from a side street attempting to cross a busy road by forcing their way into traffic and gradually crossing all the lanes in both directions. 🤪🤪
