11:45 when you were looking at ps2 there was a car radio under them worth over $100. I sell car radios all the time. I guarantee the, to work or customers money back (since I can’t test it) I RARELY get any returns on them! Big money in those radios.

On Sony hifi gear.. always look at the end of the name.. if it ends with ES it is usually some high end gear.. ES meaning elevated standard or something of that sort. Audiophiles can pay top dollar for that stuff.

@@intuitivelymagician2076 that’s what I stick with and my small stores make me crazy deals because I actually communicate with them and donate a ton to them.
Thrift stores are also watching their margins and the lease and employees do no work for free. They have mouths to feed as well.
I mean they probably are increasing the prices because so many people go to thrift stores to resell now. Which sucks for people who are just poor and are trying to find a good deal for personal use.
Hello ThriftSchool, really fierce what things you find there. I do the same in Germany. I do not have such finds here, unfortunately! At least not so often :-) I would like to give you a tip along the way: Always look at the speakers. Good speakers are often for 5-10 $ and you get on Ebay 60-150 $. Good luck furthermore!

I remember the Bop It when it first came out. Tested one at Target. Thought it was one of the dumbest things invented. So shocked that it's actually worth anything.

I’ve noticed Goodwills in large cities have caught on to resellers and either price things like consoles very high and have them at the counter, or put them on their website for auction. Don’t know where this guy lives but I haven’t seen this in smaller cities

That is a HUGE thrift store. The ones in my area are not like this.
My best finds we’re all last week when I went to Trenton and PA. Every single store I went was a hit from hyped up film cameras to even a mirrorless camera. Then I ended up in South Jersey and I found a brand new sealed Chromecast with Google TV. I wanted to extend my luck at the Red, White, and Blue thrift in Berlin township but I was tired and wanted to go home.
Goodwill has doubled their prices where I live.

The fat PS2 doesn't have screws where you were looking. To see if they've been opened you just have to look to see if the tape near the power is cut. I also would have...and actually did leave that ps2 behind though for that price with the controller as rough as it was.

It’s so funny seeing how Pendletons are priced in other states. In Oregon it’s like THE brand employees in thrift stores know about and price them high.
Also Tyndale FR is a decent brand but when it comes to FR, Ariat is one of the best. For Tyndale, I’d stick to picking up hoodies only, those bring in the big bucks. Unless you can pick up their pants or shirts for $1-2, I’d pass on them!

Smart move on passing on the cards. That many boxes in 1 area likely belonged to a hobby shop that already picked through it and pulled anything good.
Good move to pass on the basketball cards. Outside of the Jordan and David Robinson cards you’re going to struggle to even get 50 cents out of any cards; most are less than a penny each typically. Those are the type of cards that I move in 5000 count boxes for $25-30 total.
I picked up 4 of those same boxes of cards at my GW a week ago for $6 in a bag.....so far no Jordan's to be found. I did find a few of Steph Curry's dad Del.

thrift stores have raised their prices because of people like us. Why price it lower and let you resell it? I do the same thing you do, but it's becoming harder to do. Same thing happened with sports cards. I actually collect but because of all of the flippers, the retailers doubled the prices of all of the boxes. only issue with that is the actual singles don't sell for anything.
you are 100 percent right thats exactly why thrift stores and goodwill prices are higher when you got everyone and there grandmas doing the reselling thing now, its like everything else everyone starts jumping on it and doing it then it becomes no good anymore, for example my brother use to go to the goodwill outlet about 3 years ago and he would find vintage shirts all the time to sell but he stopped doing it cause now when you go to the outlet there is already a line of people standing waiting outside for them to open and when he went 3 years ago it wasnt like that when he used to go there were only a few people in there. just watch soon the reselling thing wont even be worth doing anymore.

Here is a prime example of stick to what you know! The sports cards and your comment of, if you listed every card maybe you could make a couple hundred dollars. That statement is not even close to being accurate. Buying the box at $20 is already a loss. If you do not understand the product and the MARKET leave it alone. I personally learned this lesson years ago with comics. When there is a buzz about a product you always think you just found a gold mine.

But then you have a rare version the perforated gem mint 10s Jackson/Menendez that was on a full sheet of uncut cards that one Graded can upwards of $7,500 literally one just sold like a month ago for that amount. And the Jordan and Bird can Graded gem 10 can go from anywhere from $200 up $700. Those are just ebay prices over the last few months.

Smart choice to not mess with the cards. Even if you bundled everything together you might make your money back. Baseball cards from 1987-1993 are considered "Junk Wax Era ". Way over produced.
Man your goodwills suck up there, not inventory related, just price related. In Florida it’s a little easier. I usually hit up yard sales 90% of the time, but I still find decent things at goodwill.
In the UK that Wii would be like £10 and wouldn't sell.

You really have to scan the prices. I've found retail price stickers on boxes for $5 and the thrift was selling it for $7, or just below the $5. WTH??? The thrifts should be #1, removing the sticker prices, and #2, selling wayyyyy below the retail prices. I don't mess with electronics anymore. Too much trouble. You have to test test test.
Those many baseball cards mean a) somebody died and left them and nobody wanted them; b) nobody wanted to buy or sell them; c) too many baseball cards flooding the market.
