    Useful if you are thinking about upgrading to Scalextric Digital.

    First person I've heard who pronounces Scalextric correctly lol. Well done. Informative video too, thanks.

    Very helpful thanks, thought my lane changer was playing up but this seems to confirm it isn't, it appears daft that with 1 lane changer, if you want to stay in the inside you don't have to press the button, but if you want to stay on the outside you have to press it every time you go past the lane changer otherwise it switches you back to the inside, which is annoying!

      That doesn't sound right. My lanechanger leaves the car on the side that it entered the crossover in.

    Great breakdown of how the two systems work. I have scx digital is the arc upgrade a good investment?

      I think it depends. Depends how much wireless controllers and Tablet based race management is worth to you. I was starting from scratch....

    Thanks for another interesting video. I really miss those curved lane changers! I cannot understand why Scalextric does not make a few more lane-changing alternatives as Carrera does; or even track alternatives, for that matter. I really miss my Goodwood chicane!

      I know, its odd. Its not like they had to develop a new product, they were already selling them! Same goes for the narrow lanes that you used to be able to get on the classic track.

    I have a question regarding the old digital 4 car base in the video. Can you link it to a computer and use race software with it? Also great video Thanks! 👍👍

    • @FAWRailsandSlots
      @FAWRailsandSlots  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure that you can't as there is no USB or in fact any other connection on the unit. Scalextric offer the C7042 Advanced 6 Car Powerbase which allows you to connect to a PC.

    • @SlotCar2021
      @SlotCar2021 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FAWRailsandSlots Thanks, yes I knew the 6 car did. I also heard that the 4 car digital suffers on power surges etc. I have an ARC one and wanted a cheap upgrade to digital but seems that ARC pro is the best option really without connecting to a pc. I will just wait until they become cheaper I think. Thanks

    How firmly held is the flipper, as to allow me to run my cars the opposite direction? I want to put 2 LC tracks for each direction, at strategic points for each direction of the layout. Can't find a suitable answer anywhere. Thanks. Ron.

    • @FAWRailsandSlots
      @FAWRailsandSlots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not held firmly and is free to move apart from the moment it is activated by a car passing over. It'll be fine to operate both ways I think, but the lane changing only works in one direction as there is only one sensor and flipper.

  • @aeliayousaf
    @aeliayousaf ปีที่แล้ว

    that's why the scx digital was so much better - track was all manual and the cars had the mechanism for changing lanes - no need to worry about missing the sensors.

  • @Stonely1974

    Is it normal that lane change are not always successful? My lane change track is in between 2 standard straights and sometime i could fail to change lane even when i had the lane change button pressed.

    • @FAWRailsandSlots
      @FAWRailsandSlots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, quite normal. There is a little Infra-red bulb on the bottom of the chip / car. If the sensor on the track doesn't see that then it won't work. It could be that there is debris in the track so check that.
