    I have done this trip many times over the past three years and really enjoy driving the Hai Van Pass. I love how it overlooks the beautiful beaches. It is definitely worth taking the time to drive it. During the war I was stationed 8 km Southwest of Hue, at Phu Bai, which is now an International AIrport that just opened in May 2023. During the war I had only passed through Hue and in May 2023 I stayed there and was amazed at how this city has grown and recovered from the destruction brought on by so many years of war. Nice video Gabi.

    Vietnamese people also visit Hue mainly for its regional specialty food varieties, some are of royal cuisine origin. 😊❤😋😇

    I wanted to see Hue, but I chose to go to Hoi An instead during my trip to Da Nang last June 2023. No regrets, as Hoi An is incredible. However, I still plan to visit Hue on my next trip to Da Nang. Exploring Da Nang and Hoi An was a great experience, unlike anything I've seen in popular Vietnamese cities like Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi. And the coffee there, especially coconut coffee, was simply amazing.
    Thanks for your video-I definitely want to visit Hue next time.

      Also try the peanut coffee which originated from Hue as well. Tommy (from "Sammy and Tommy") fell in love with it when he was in Vietnam. Most people love the coconut coffee or egg coffee as well. Others to try are yogurt or pandan coffee.

    • @fromthethrone
      @fromthethrone ปีที่แล้ว

      @@datgal2u And here in Europe was very popular cinnamon coffee, and a coffee with added rum.

    • @datgal2u
      @datgal2u ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fromthethrone What really surprises me is the lack of use of cinnamon over in Vietnam. They have the best cinnamon in the world, but they rarely use it, especially in sweet stuff (they just use cinnamon sticks in making pho and such). I am guessing they think it's a warming spice and they don't want that in their sweet stuff, especially during the summer.

    Older people do like the warm weather better, though it can be nocif from time to time. When i first went to Thailand i had to cross the pedestrian bridge from the airport to the airport hotel & upon entering i started to laugh it was so thick and warm, nighttime. The next day i was fine. Just there for a couple days before Nepal. I work with a Vietnamese man & he says there is so much corruption there, but maybe tourists and ex-pats do not see or feel it so much. He also says to be aware of where your food comes from if possible. You sold me on Hoi An Gaby. That looks like a place one could live long term. Very beautiful countryside, people and the café culture seals the deal. I share your love for the joy of bike riding though it has been many years i have not. Used to ride motocross bikes in the 70's. Thanks for these videos.

    1) FYI, Hilton Thailand is hiring.
    2) on the way back to Da Nang, you can play the song "Sadness" by Enigma (I think it was based on an Italian Chant) while riding on Hai Van pass. (the song's rhythm and motorcycle speed are synched up nicely). .:)

    Hi Gabi! That Hai Van Pass has phenomenal views! I took the train from Hanoi to Hoi An in 2008 with nice views as it was along the coast. I agree that Hue has some interesting sites like the Citadel, but not much else to see. I almost got killed in Hue, as I was on the back of a motorcycle taxi and it hit a bicycle (just took some skin off my upper leg), but I remember the traffic being horrific in Hue.. I enjoyed HoiAn much better as I bicycled around the city center. Great video as usual! Can't wait to see your next vids! Love your drone shots! Oh, I never tried salted coffee, I don't know if it was a thing way back in 2008. I'll have to go back to try it, seeing as they will be giving three month visas that is awesome!

    Thank you for sharing. Your first question about the hotel: No! It is not even close to a 3 star hotel! The breakfast does not look good. Five star hotel in Vietnam is very really nice! The second question: For Westerners, Hue worths a visit only if you like to do the Hai Van pass and the Perfume River boat ride.

This vid was completely useless in terms of providing practical information to someone wanting to do this ride for the first time.
