Having read some of the comments further down, I agree with a lot of them. That's a lot of money for a boat that doesn't look in the best of condition but as you state they're a broker. I personally wouldn't go for this but if I did I'd be looking at around £50/55,000 for it because of the work required to get it up to speck. Once cleaned up and the engines given a good service' overhaul and clean up it does look like a good starter boat for a couple.
Anyone can build big - it takes true skill to build small. This is an excellent starter boat, although for someone who's not a gear head (like me) those engines might make me worry, and I would get an expert to take a good look at them. They're probably perfectly fine but when I see rust on an engine I pause. Thanks so much for showing the lower part of the price range as well as the top end and everything in between!
I didn’t know that Cranchi made boats in the early 2000’s; I thought they were a new yacht builder! But either way it’s great to see what they were making 20 years ago and it looks like a great first or second boat! Lovely tour thanks Nick!
And thank you Nick for this nice show of this Cranchi Giada 30 a nice sports day/weekender with a lot of space I like the aft cabine and a not to bad bathroom thank again Nick a good show on this nice Sunday
Nick, it might be helpful for viewers to explain why a boat like this has both adjustable outdrives AND trim tabs. Walking around a sunny boatyard early in March, it can't help but remind us all that Spring is coming.
A nice little boat for just getting outside on the water. It is also a great little weekender. Needs a bit of work but another may be cosmetic hopefully. Thanks for another wonderful tour. Cheers
Interesting Nick. I am surprised that it hasn't been tidied up if its for sale. For a small outlay the engines and outdrives could be smartened up. As it is now it looks unloved an un maintained, putting doubt in the mind of potential purchasers. As an ex motor-dealer, you would never present a used car like this!
Have a glance at Marine Sales Scotland, they sell a lot of boats like this but they get them showboat glistening first, I mean they really scrub them up to the point they look new. It's a tiny firm - one salesman - but they have two full-time specialists who do nothing except detail the boats.
This was a brokerage boat, the yard doesn't own it, they're storing and selling it on behalf of an owner. So it's a bit like an estate agent situation, the condition is down to the owner.
i bet the owner thinks of it like selling an older car. Why bother to spend money 'doing it up' when they just want shot of it for as little hassle as possible. Owners like that usually still want loads of money for it though. They get a bit cheeky on the price of second hand 'offloads'.
Adding on to say that if you want to be more "Italian", the "I" in "Giada" is pronounced more like a double "e" as in "heel". So "Gee-ah-da" would be more accurate. But I imagine the Italians would still forgive you regardless.
@@9VARZ Yep. In Italian, a g followed by an i or an e is always soft (like a j in English). To get a hard g, you have to put an h in between, as in a Maserati Ghibli. And Nick, it's not that hard to learn! I learned enough from an audiobook course I took before a trip to Italy. Well, enough to know how to pronounce things, anyway. Also enough to get myself in trouble by giving Italians the impression I spoke a lot more Italian than I did!
Ohhh and its called the Argo, I hope the owner is called Jason. A rival to us aquaholics , the Argonauts! And they have the golden fleece too so let's keep cool guys!
Love these kind of 25-35ft boats, although she looks like the best times are over and a decent amount of tlc plus a hell of a lot of money need to be invested
I suppose it’s all there in terms of layout and decent (rusty) engines etc. 65k does seem a lot for a 1990s caravan on the water. Needs some love. If you threw 10k at it it would be worth more back I think.
Excellent video of a great starter boat, but it would be great to do a tour of that Fairline Sunfury for those who's budget doesn't extend to over 30k. I own a Sunfury and are a fantastic solid built boat. A older version of an Leader 805!!! Keep up the great work, my wife and I enjoy every one!
Neat little boat, Nick! I had a question about the head...on your Motoholic channel, you've shown some smaller motorhomes where sink and the splash panel behind it turns to the side to create a shower stall rather than having the whole compartment get wet when the shower is used. Other than durability, is there a reason they aren't used on smaller boats? Thanks!
Hi Nick, another great tour. Please can you help, I've watched one of your tours and the boat had 3x IPS drives and I can't remember for the life of me the make and model. Many thanks
Those engines require major servicing I’d wager. Rusty components and bilge with suspicious water colouration . Interior refurb.required? That could become a rather expensive old boat. Lack of tlc of interior probably equals lack of service schedules being met. I’d run from that’n! Thanks though Nick great show around.
Hey Nick, great video! I was surprised by the price of this boat compared to Smuggler’s Blues, as your boat (if I am remembering correctly) was purchased for significantly less and looked to be in notably better condition than this boat. Love the channel!
Smugglers Blues was purchased a few years ago. Post Covid the price of “toys” has gone through the roof. Back in 2019 odds on this would have been a £55k boat.
Personally: I'd take some time to properly inspect that boat. It has definite damp issues. Just from the video, I'd avoid it in fact. All that glitters is not gold.
On a dual engine boat, is it possible to only use 1 of the engine, if the speed doesn't matter as much as fuel saving? And does the boat use less fuel with just 1 engine running?
I know this is a bit of a late reply, but I had a fairline targa 29 with KAD32'S, the other issue you get running one engine is the power steering pump is only on one engine (starboard in my case) and battery charging issues.
Loving these smaller boats however, are we to assume with most of the Russian owned giga yachts being hid from view, we are never to experience the Aquaholic view of these yachts again?
Excellent tour as normal, I don’t expect else! Interesting boat, but as others have said, why would you sell a boat with work clearly needed?! Obviously the vendor rather than broker, but a lick of antifoul, service to engines (and clean!) and outdrives and it’d sell much easier. Sure there’s a reason, but still. Keep ‘em coming Mr B 😎
