Congrats on pushing through to the end. You never know how the day will go, the challenge is getting the best possible result on the day in whatever conditions happen. Sounds like you did that!

Finishing not injured is always a win in my book. You’ll get that goal on your next go around.

So interesting to hear your reflections on the 2:49 Marathon Project. I have absolutely no doubt that you'll be seeing 2:49 in the not so distant future! Huge congratulations on another fantastic run and thanks for putting yourself out there for us all to learn from 🙌

Great job on powering through the marathon. 3 hours is still a great time. It was very interesting to follow your training. I enjoyed it. Your approach is a little different than mine, so it was neat to see a different perspective. Your enthusiasm with marathonng is very motivating. Keep it up and I'm sure that 2:49 is coming soon.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I found the interaction and all of the comments across the different social media platforms to be fantastic. I enjoyed the interest and the feedback. I'll be taking some good lessons away from this one.

I enjoyed following your training this last 16 weeks. We both had the same running goal of 2hr 50m.
I also failed my goal at Amsterdam due to getting injured 5 weeks before I struggled to a 3hr 7m.
I remember we talked about nutrition at the start of the block and you mentioned you were only eating 2200calories a day. In reflection do you still think that was enough daily intake?

Hi Dave, First off, sorry to hear about your injury. Congratulations on pushing through to a 3:07 finish. It's speaks volumes about your mental and physical strength to complete it.
As for me, I had three very successful training blocks while limiting calories from the beginning through to the last few weeks and achieving a target race weight. This time, however, I really struggled with weight and discipline in the kitchen. I ended up gaining weight almost as many weeks as I did losing weight.
I have run over 40 marathons now and I always learn something from every single one. I am taking a lot away from this training block. One of the takeaway's is that going into the London 2025 block, I will try to get as close to race weight before the block begins.
I can't explain why I couldn't maintain discipline as it has been a strength of mine for many years. I ended up being 10 lbs heavier than I was in Manchester in April this year. That, I was hoping, was a change in body composition. But at the end of the day, it was 10 lbs that I didn't have to drag around 26 miles in Manchester that I did in Valencia. It was only a minor part of the problem, but going forward I will try to take that part of the program out play by getting there before the training starts in full.
Thank you for all your input. I've really enjoyed chatting and hearing everybody's input. This is exactly why I put it all out there and I appreciate it 😊
