Lots of negative comments about Scott but this guy lives and breathes Man United. He is a great pro with the right attitude and mentality. He might not be as naturally gifted as others but he more than compensates for it by being ultra competitive and a really good team player. Makes me fed up when I read so much negativity by contributors here and so-called football expert you tubers who make destructive comments about McTominay because they’ve got an agenda against him. If we had more in the team with his positivity and can-do attitude, we’d be better off. As I say, not the most gifted but sets the right example. Well done Scott.
People seem to forget the teams Fergie fielded in all sorts of big matches.. names you wouldn't even recall now (not that they didn't have talent) but they were required to show a bit of mettle and fight.
McTominay, love to hear him talk. Big character on and off the field. He'll be the first one to admit he's no scholes, but he contributes and every great United team had players like him. Pure heart.
What an interview. And what a level headed young man player that has come through the ranks. He gets it all. What it means being a United player, determination to succeed and having to prove himself every day. Being polite. He spoke from the heart. His parents should be really proud. Well done Scott.
Scott talking about self doubt is such a great topic, so many people suffer from this and it is a major topic in everyday life it is great to see someone so high profile acknowledging this
We love and appreciate you Scott. I'm from South Africa, but I watch every Scotland game all because of you. Don't take the negative to heart, some people are fans and not supporters.
These comments hurt to read. Yes, okay you don’t rate him as a player. Whatever. He’s still a professional athlete. Playing at one of the highest levels you possibly can. Clearly he put in lots of time. And has reached a certain level of his career. Which most people only dream of. Goodness.
Less than 0.5% of footballers don’t turn pro. 97% of academy players for PL clubs don’t play for the first team of that club. He’s unfortunate that he’s a squad player who’s played first team minutes in a terrible man united side.
Be a professional is not just about training and tactical aspects. Practicing the fundamentals after practice will elevate your game as well. Free kicks, penalties, set piece headers etc. Analyzing your game play and scouting your opponents to prepare you for what’s coming is essential. Scott seems like great person and professional. Wish him the best in his career!
I think Scott is a huge breath of fresh air. There are not many players like him now. I personally believe he’s an attacking midfielder and has proven that this season so many times, and yet people keep trying to knock him down. EVERY TIME HE SCORES I SMILE KNOWING HE HAS DOUBTERS WRONG.
Listening to him talk about self doubt is such an important topic which so many people suffer with. It is a major topic in everyday life and it's great to see someone with such a high profile acknowledging this.
No one ever questions his personality, drive, leadership etc. Clearly a top man. Just hasn’t found his position (always a worry when that happens) and doesn’t have the technical ability to compete with the best in the PL.
This have always been a big issue with Scotty. He played as striker in his academy days but it was Jose that promoted him to the first time and tries to mold him into a CDM to replace Matic or some kind of box to box midfielder due to his height and physique. Ole, Ralf and ETH continue to played him as midfielder. As fans watching him all these years, we all agree his not a great midfielder. I feel like he should played as a striker with his good scoring form.
I'd disagree. Think he is a top player. Just not at United cause a team like United need players who can keep errors to a minimum. Mentality great, but that should come as standard, not to be in on that merit
You can see why previous managers like the Lad, he is likeable, but he still is a Man Utd SQUAD player, not a first teamer, If I were manager I would be thrilled to have Scott in the team, but as a Sub, he has a role as he scores goals and big ones, but just not as a first team starter, but I do like Scott a lot
The thing is, he is better than a squad player for the vast majority of clubs and I feel like he is wasted by being one at United. I know a lot of people will disagree but stats don't lie and stats say he is well above average for a premier league midfielder. He would walk into 3/4 of the teams in the league and be one of their best players. Just look at him for Scotland. I honestly think McTominay and Fred got WAY too much shit. We had way more control during the McFred Ole era than we have had under Ten Hag with Casemiro, Eriksen, Mainoo etc.
There is no best part. As he says at the end it’s the whole. The whole interview was outstanding. His appreciation of his opportunities and his professionalism makes him one of my favorite footballers of all time.
My favourite moment of the video was when he mentioned that whenever the club bought an amazing player he had to show himself and show that he is capable of being in the first team. That is an elite mentality.
I love Scott because he tries his best every time and plays within his limitations. The day he maximises his skills, he will be a crowd favourite. He’s already doing it this season and will get even better next season. Love Scott. Proper United Man.

He is a nice lad and very passionate his parents will be so proud of him. In all fairness tho he is not good enough for man utd just like alot of others that are there. He contributes nothing apart from a few recent goals. Is attitude to everything is spot on can't fault him there. I hope he can find a team that need a player like him. Celtic would love him ❤ good luck scott 👍
I really loved that, thanks Scott. You are a credit to yourself, your family, your coaches, past and present and to the fans. Thanks for your attitude on the pitch. Brilliant!
I’m completely happy with mctominay in the team aslong as he isn’t playing holding midfield, he is genuinely a decent player just never been able to play in his position
Mctominay has the right mindset for a united player. Thats where it all starts towards becoming top class player and he is definitely headed there in no time.
Listening to Steve Clarke give him the chance and motivation he needed to shine as the fantastic player he truly is! It's great to see a talent as brilliant as Scott truly making a different impact with just a few encouraging words, especially when things hadn't been going his way during that time. Great way to show why you should never give up!
It's nice to hear, how mentally Scott had managed to cope going through the ranks at Manchester United, being able to the big players around him and the entrance of going on the pitch at Old Teafford listening to the 75,000, fans applauding the team, the buzz he must of got feeling this moment. Just hope the team can get more consistency now. Come on Scott let's be that leader on the pitch, it definitely needs one.
When he talked about young players coming through and their passion - ultimately Scott came through the academy and whether we think he's our best player or not, you can't blame him for wanting to continue to play for his boyhood club. There's no doubt he cares for the club.
Where Scott talks about self doubt, he’s so humble and seems so down to earth and normal, it’s great he’s so open and honest and very relatable. It’s nice to know people in positions such as Scott also struggle with normal doubts and worries. Massive mctominay fan
He lived all of our dream. Supported Man Utd, got SAF backing from early on, and played for us, clutch performances. I just want this team to win PL or UCL as they deserve it. Him, Bruno, Rashford, Shaw etc. Great guy.
Would love to win the shirt. Just started the podcast. I love the way he talks about his parents and how he enjoyed driving in the car to the games so that they had quality time together. He said they were his best memories. Such a grounded young man
Met him in St Andrews pre season under Ole. My son has a signed McT Scotland shirt which is his pride and joy. I’ve got my CL final 99 programme and Ole shirt signed and framed which is mine. ❤
12 points and counting, from his best number 10 position. He should be understood as a ‘different’ type of 10 than Bruno et al. Guy deserves everything. Kind words about his family and luck in his life!
I feel Scott is a Preofessional at Manchester United coming up through Ranks then having different Managers, has definitely had an affect on the whole team, not just Scott's performance. Give him the opportunities he still has a good work rate, score important goals. Is high up there for work rate. Keep it going Scott we still believe in you. Good interview by the way and keep up the great work in influencing the young ones coming through the ranks.
My favorite moment was his halfway goal against city it just gave such a boost of optimism and confidence at that time qnd it completed a memorable double over city
Loved all of it but pzrticlulary the bit about his struggles and how he kept belief, and also the part about his Grandparents, shows his character - what a guy!
Scott aimt good enough to start and win us titles in a deeper role. As a last gasp sub and squad player I like him. Seems like a good pro and good lad. We need his attitude with more talent around him.
Give me a team of players with Scotts professionalism, dedication and heart over a team of superstar prima donnas anyday. The lad is an absolute credit to his parents and the clubs academy system
He lived all of our dream. Supported Man Utd, got SAF backing from early on, and played for us, clutch performances. I just want this team to win PL or UCL as they deserve it. Him, Bruno, Rashford, Shaw etc. Great guy.
The reason he keeps coming back is that the fancy dans brought in don't have the mindset, guts and fire that he possesses in his physique, determination and will to win.
You can say whatever you want but one thing for sure is h plays for the badge and I sometimes think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. If everyone in the team has Scott,s work ethic we would be set to top 4 .Side note I have a friend who is a member of Morecambe golf club and he said Scott,s dad is a member and say he is so down to earth and this podcast points to the reason why!
My favourite moment was Scott talking about Mourinho leaving and the self doubt around that. Fascinating to hear that perspective from a player, we don't often get to hear that insight from a player, it's usually a robotic "we're all on board with the new manager "
I hope this guy is making his voice heard in the changing room been there 21yrs some of the higher paid young guns could learn a thing or two off him! Great video again team keep them coming thanks
I like the lad even though people complain sometimes about him not being good enough I’ve always supported him as there is a certain character in people of high value that you can sense at times…Respect Tom, keep fighting bro
I loved how he said you have to prove what you can do at united every time a player steps on that pitch uts a clean slate they all need to prove what they can do
He was not roasted to be better at football, BUT to build the mental resilience to deal with away fans!! Have you been to an away stadium and see or hear what the fans shout at visitors??? They need to build the resilience against fan abuse and remain focused. That is the way it's!
A very honest professional who is maximising his talent as a solid Prem player and Scottish international. He shouldn't be doing this feature at this stage of his career and would nice to see him somewhere like West Ham or Everton where he'd play regularly and be appreciated (note Mark Goldbridge's comments about him).
Alex Ferguson recently commented "McTominay should be the first name picked". Moyes was picked by AF, Darren Fletcher has a technical director job thanks to AF, McTominay has a career thanks to AF. Do the math, Scottish denominator.
The most average player I’ve seen at the club. You can’t say that he ‘plays with passion’ and all that because if that’s the case then I’m good enough to play for the club.
United were built on players like Scott. Hard not to like him and you can see why managers have liked him. If there were more Scotts in the team, I don't think United would be where they are. A deficit of determination and character that he has in abundance.
The conversation shouldn't be about passion, character, commitment or whatever platitude you want to throw in, he ultimately is paid (lots of money) to a better than average footballer, which he is most certainly not, the fact that he has all these other qualities is less to his credit and more an indictment of football players at large. Imagine if a plumber showed up to your place not knowing how to properly turn a wrench but showed a lot of gumption and drive.... you'll no doubt appreciate the extra spice but still call him out for not being able to do the basics of his job. That's Scott in a nutshell, doesn't matter how much you run, at his age and position he should be able to receive the ball on the turn, control it and progress it forwards. Also why is valid criticism so anathema to footballers? they have no problem receiving praise, but the instance you call someone for having the first touch of league 1 player then all of a sudden its not on? Scott McTominay is an apt example of the sheer decline Man United has had this decade and a half, we came from underrated world class midfielders to overrated championship players like this.
Scott talking about self-doubt was really interesting as you wouldn’t expect a player playing the premier league at such a big club to be experiencing those feelings. Just shows how much of a normal guy he is and i can get to that level with Luck and hard work put together.
People being rude in the comments he is obviously not suitable for this man united vision but he has tried his best you don’t know if he reads the comments be nice people
Great interview with Scott - admire his commitment & dedication. Despite this season being frustrating for Utd, I'm proud that we have so many academy players at the core of our team (Marcus, Mainoo, Scott, Garnacho + Dan Gore, Willy etc). Can any other Prem team compete with the Utd academy output....?
He should have doubted himself too. Even though he is crap and keep getting tons of chances while others are given one to none chance and got kicked out. There must be fairy godfather on his Scottish shoulders, who cast spells on every manager to pick him.
That was brilliant; thank you, Scott. I am a Manchester United fan who often criticises your performances (justifiably so, I think). But today, in this podcast, it has shown that as football fans, we need to remember that you guys are only human (somebody's son, daughter, brother, sister) - strangely, this is something we can forget due to the emotion and tribalism football carries. Now I can see why Robbie Savage respects you so much. I have shared the link to this episode in our family WhatsApp group - Thank you again for the insight!
everybody is somebody's son, daughter and parent. that doesn't mean you get paid 300k grand a week to just get sympathy for having a family and being like everyone else?
@redblazer29 Scott certainly ain't getting that kind of money. He is one of the only United players that I actually like even though he hasn't got the top quality needed. But the money players get is absolute obscene, especially the shower of charlatans at United (excluding the youth players & lower paid ones). The ridiculous wages causes a big disconnect between players & fans
Mctominay Positives: - Not injury prone - Capable of scoring goals at times similar to Fellaini - Has a decent shooting ability Negatives: - Below par passing ability - No vision or creativity - Cannot dribble - Doesn't have the ability to interlink play - Poor decision making when pressed - Below par first touch for a midfielder - Master at creating illusion of hard work(Never seen him making sprints to stop counterattack, Doesn't trackback after losing the ball) - Doesn't really put effort in and around our box when opposition is attacking or lacks the ability to read the play - Runs around like a chicken without much output - Gets absolutely dominated or bullied by superior midfielders - Whenever he talks in interviews it makes me believe that he doesn't really have self awareness. It seems he actually thinks he is an elite footballer -Has a punchable face (jk) Overall Mctominay is lower level premier league player at best. Unfortunately he has managed to fool part of Manchester United fanbase who either don't watch games or lack intelligence.
30 seconds in and this is the reason why he will never improve and MAN U are where they are at. From an early age he has been happy to just play and in his own words whether it was a good or bad game got in the car home with a smile on his face. Real competitors and winners don't smile home after losing or a shit performance. So far from elite mentality it's unreal and this is clearly why united are struggling the way they are. The squad is full of happy smiley losers. It might be harsh but it's true!
Amazing to see the drive and passion of Scott, sadly the missing factor is ability. I’d wish that rashford, sancho, Anthony, had that desire with their natural talent. Hopefully we’ll see these average joes being moved on from the biggest club in the world and resume the number 1 position.
The way hes talkin bout Rooney and Carrick,,,They should be coaching our players,,They have the Ferguson Mentality it should be kept in our club,Our old skool should be our coaches
Some right beauts in the comments this McT epitomizes passion for his club, like any player he had a downer and upper, bet you love him when he bags the winners like he has tho.... Needs to stay he is gonna get even better and be an great example to young players
I’m sorry but we need to stop the sententially in football…This is Man Utd are where they are today. A part from the odd goals here & there, Scott should not be anywhere near a top 6 side… He’s a very limited footballer at best
Well said. I’m sorry he chats so much shit in post match interviews etc says all the right things. Then in a game he slowly walks around the pitch and doesn’t bother.
First off, it's sentimentality. And secondly, you think United isn't founded on sentiment? We have a statue of a man who was given his Last Rights twice after a plane crash front opposite a statue of our three greatest players. We have a record number of local lads in the top two leagues and no team has played more Academy products more consistently. We are a sentimental club, because we're founded on specific values. Without those values, in fact, we're nothing. You think it's McTominay that's caused the rot? It's precisely the opposite; bringing in 70million retirees who have zero loyalty to United and work us for a bumper contract.
@@silewis9396 He’s a bench player. He’s never been a world beater. Good mentality, scored some important goals coming off the bench, but that should be his role .
Mc sauce is cooking this season i am happy for him, hope he gets more love from fans even though his football ability is not world class ... Go on scott we are supporting you and the team going forward
McTominay is one of Ferguson's favorites. Ferguson loves his fellow Scotts. McTominay has a career thanks to Ferguson. Bang average player. Nepotism exists at United. Ferguson appointed Moyes, Darren Fletcher has a technical directors job thanks to AF, McTominay is protected by Ferguson.
its true, our recruitment in general is a joke, high paid players but average quality thats why i feel so sorry for ten hag, can only do so much, they cant even make 5 yard passes properly
@oovirusooo Correct and now there's a story of leaking that they are unhappy about doing the same thing over and over in training. I think that's because that some/most aren't good enough.
I genuinely believe if he was to be made captain instead of the hot and cold Fernandes who brings the team down when they are losing, we would see a different player. He is captain material, but does he have the talent as well, maybe not. Still would love to see him captain utd

The reason he keeps coming back is that the fancy dans brought in don't have the mindset, guts and fire that he possesses in his physique, determination and will to win.
But at the end of the day, he’s shite and ghosts. United will win nothing with him in CM
Scotland wouldnt be going to the Euros without him
Totally, his goals powered us to qualify. Also he played in the back three to help out. Get's criticised for his passing but has everything else.
Zero Technical Ability @@encouragesolutions2595
All great attributes, all he needs is a footballing brain and skill then he's good to go.
Fans have the same passion its about talent
His mentality is enormous. I like this man.
what a lovely polite lad all the best Scott
@@CounterSpicefax
one of the greatest interviews ever. One sauce a true professional. big up mi balla
Mate, he’s crap
Wish others in the squad had this mentality
Later came on against Wolverhampton and scored the third goal.
Our current season supper sub.💯💯
Keep going McTomminay
My favourite moment was Scott talking about Mourinho leaving and the self doubt around that. Fascinating to hear that perspective from a player, we don't often get to hear that insight from a player, it's usually a robotic "we're all on board with the new manager "
He ain't only going to inspire young people, I'm a 45 year old fat bloke, and he has inspired me, what a impressive young man.
Great to hear from one of my favourite players.
The only person that will put my dream up.
Train for yourself that's what really matters
I hope this guy is making his voice heard in the changing room been there 21yrs some of the higher paid young guns could learn a thing or two off him! Great video again team keep them coming thanks
when is he gonna learn how to play football?
I like the lad even though people complain sometimes about him not being good enough I’ve always supported him as there is a certain character in people of high value that you can sense at times…Respect Tom, keep fighting bro
I loved how he said you have to prove what you can do at united every time a player steps on that pitch uts a clean slate they all need to prove what they can do
He was not roasted to be better at football, BUT to build the mental resilience to deal with away fans!! Have you been to an away stadium and see or hear what the fans shout at visitors??? They need to build the resilience against fan abuse and remain focused. That is the way it's!
What a guy McSauce is 🏴
A very honest professional who is maximising his talent as a solid Prem player and Scottish international. He shouldn't be doing this feature at this stage of his career and would nice to see him somewhere like West Ham or Everton where he'd play regularly and be appreciated (note Mark Goldbridge's comments about him).
A decent pro but he isn't good enough for United longer term . Would be a great signing for a team like Crystal Palace.
Alex Ferguson recently commented "McTominay should be the first name picked". Moyes was picked by AF, Darren Fletcher has a technical director job thanks to AF, McTominay has a career thanks to AF. Do the math, Scottish denominator.
Currently top scorer. Does everyone else deserve the nepotism tag as well then?
The most average player I’ve seen at the club. You can’t say that he ‘plays with passion’ and all that because if that’s the case then I’m good enough to play for the club.
Outside of this being a joke, no you’re not
United were built on players like Scott. Hard not to like him and you can see why managers have liked him. If there were more Scotts in the team, I don't think United would be where they are. A deficit of determination and character that he has in abundance.
Show some respect. Scott is a top lad, just wish he was also a top footballer
None are great...thats include this scott and rashford...2 academy players that is so shite
They bought Garnacho from atletico
He should have doubted himself too. Even though he is crap and keep getting tons of chances while others are given one to none chance and got kicked out.
There must be fairy godfather on his Scottish shoulders, who cast spells on every manager to pick him.
I've always felt he's a solid fourth choice CM, that isn't meant to insult him but he's a good backup/super sub for any team
McTominay always scoring in the winner 😊
I don’t get people who don’t like or rate him -he’s class both at club and international level
Desperate to win but strolls around the pitch on a world of his own
That was brilliant; thank you, Scott.
I'm trying to learn English by my self, and this podcasts are the grate way to do it, and the British accent, as well, thanks and way to go)
great, grate means to like to grate cheese or carrots

Mctominay
Positives:
- Not injury prone
- Capable of scoring goals at times similar to Fellaini
- Has a decent shooting ability
Negatives:
- Below par passing ability
- No vision or creativity
- Cannot dribble
- Doesn't have the ability to interlink play
- Poor decision making when pressed
- Below par first touch for a midfielder
- Master at creating illusion of hard work(Never seen him making sprints to stop counterattack, Doesn't trackback after losing the ball)
- Doesn't really put effort in and around our box when opposition is attacking or lacks the ability to read the play
- Runs around like a chicken without much output
- Gets absolutely dominated or bullied by superior midfielders
- Whenever he talks in interviews it makes me believe that he doesn't really have self awareness. It seems he actually thinks he is an elite footballer
-Has a punchable face (jk)
Overall Mctominay is lower level premier league player at best. Unfortunately he has managed to fool part of Manchester United fanbase who either don't watch games or lack intelligence.
Steam award take my points!
spot on
Cos you're an expert.
@@mobilthree7544 Doesn't take an expert to watch Man Utd and see how shit McTominay is.
@@JimDuggan-tq2lvOne of the two best scorers we have at the moment. So are you saying the same about all the others who fail to produce what he has
30 seconds in and this is the reason why he will never improve and MAN U are where they are at.
It’s all good mcsauce the Scot’s took you in like yer auld da said. We love your passion and we know you play for our badge. Keep yer head up
Amazing to see the drive and passion of Scott, sadly the missing factor is ability. I’d wish that rashford, sancho, Anthony, had that desire with their natural talent.
Hopefully we’ll see these average joes being moved on from the biggest club in the world and resume the number 1 position.
The way hes talkin bout Rooney and Carrick,,,They should be coaching our players,,They have the Ferguson Mentality it should be kept in our club,Our old skool should be our coaches
nice guy. Everton or West ham would be great for him
its absolutely ok for him to stay and be a squad player...sir alex had john o'shea, darren fletcher etc
@@RAHMAN-qb5ed Both have them still way better players than Mctominay both track back and defends.
@@vickywitvickyMcTominay scores goals. He's top scorer soooo 🤫

He's leading scorer for a top 6 side. Your argument is dead.
@@silewis9396 He’s a bench player. He’s never been a world beater. Good mentality, scored some important goals coming off the bench, but that should be his role .
@@CR-pw9il So what if he's a bench player? Noone said he wasn't. Still producing off the bench for a top 6 side.
Loved this ❤
GGMU 👊
My new favourite player!!
Scott McTominay being interviewed for High performance has to be the best comedy i've seen
this year
Mc sauce is cooking this season i am happy for him, hope he gets more love from fans even though his football ability is not world class ... Go on scott we are supporting you and the team going forward
He's not. He's scored a few goals, but he's not good enough.
Scott hasn’t “made it” in football. He just gets away with it and is the perfect example of why United are so bang average.
Spot on. Brought in by Ferguson. Ferguson has convinced every manager to play him.
Did Ferguson convince teams to let him be top scorer for United as well? 😂😂😂 Muppet.
Just wrong
I love Scott his mentality is great and he’s a great lad. He always fights for the badge!
Great lad got a decent family behind him. Not a starter but great to have on bench
This is a great interview …
He talks the talk but he has the quality of a mid table player. How the mighty MUFC has fallen from Scholes Keane Carrick to this is still a mystery
its true, our recruitment in general is a joke, high paid players but average quality thats why i feel so sorry for ten hag, can only do so much, they cant even make 5 yard passes properly
He may be a nice bloke but his footballing ability is shocking. Even after scoring braces against Brentford and Chelsea, I still think he's mid.
@oovirusooo Correct and now there's a story of leaking that they are unhappy about doing the same thing over and over in training. I think that's because that some/most aren't good enough.
@BigSmokeMUFC Other than goals, he doesn't assist, and he hides
Love reading all the comments from 🤡 who’ve never been close to what he’s achieved. I’m sure his managers know a lot more than all of you..
I genuinely believe if he was to be made captain instead of the hot and cold Fernandes who brings the team down when they are losing, we would see a different player. He is captain material, but does he have the talent as well, maybe not. Still would love to see him captain utd
He must be captain and play 10, it's sick that he isn't captain, he's the best character by far at the club.
Fabulous!!
Have admired him since his debut. Class act and I hope he wins some trophies soon.
He is a perfect fit for Luton
should be captain at United and build a team around...
Big up Scott! Much love from Africa!
